21.01.2022 It was a joy to be able to welcome some parents back to our Cathedral to celebrate the end of a challenging but fruitful year in Junior School and Gawura. Our community congratulated many award-winners from across the year, thanked our current leadership team and introduced 2021's team, and said farewell to a few staff and celebrated others who were awarded for their recent achievements. Even though 2020 has been a year like no other, we're grateful that we have been able to continue to learn and grow and pray that our Junior School families have a safe and restful break!

20.01.2022 Our staff are awesome. While we can't have visitors come into school right now, our teachers and support staff have been joining our Gawura students in the mornings for their reading and literacy time!

20.01.2022 Yesterday, a group of Year 8 and 9 students met with the US Consul General Sharon Hudson-Dean for an informal Q&A at a city cafe. The meeting came as a result of the Consul General's earlier talk to SACS students for International Women's Day in March. Her talk generated a great deal of interest from students, who were keen to hear more from the inspiring diplomat. The girls asked some great questions about women in leadership, diplomacy, gender equity, COVID-19 and a career as a diplomat.

19.01.2022 Join us at 9.30am as we farewell our Year 12s in a special live-streamed service from St Andrew's Cathedral.

19.01.2022 Year 10 recently raised $10,000 with the support of the school community and used the money to buy food to include in hamper packs with Anglicare Sydney, which they packed last week. It was part of their time of post-exam community service, where they also participated in a poverty simulation.

19.01.2022 The Great Book Swap is on today! Don't forget to tell your children to head to the Middle School Library at lunchtime to buy a pre-loved book and donate to this fabulous initiative!

18.01.2022 2019 school captain Trystan Go is in his first blockbuster movie - a futuristic sci-fi feature film, which is playing now in cinemas.

17.01.2022 Popular childrens author R.A.Spratt wowed all of our Year 3-6 students with some seriously animated storytelling which was wrapped up by a song on the ukulele. (Many thanks to the students who acted as microphone stands). Students learned some of the tricks of the trade and were thoroughly engaged by the authors hilarious anecdotes and dramatised reading of the first chapter of one of her books - "The Peski Kids: the mystery of the squashed cockroach".

17.01.2022 Our new secondary school leadership began their time as leaders at the beginning of Term 3. We checked in with our new school captains, Jess and Dylan, to see how they were going.

16.01.2022 REMINDER: The Great Book Swap is happening this Wednesday in the Middle School Library! Supporting Indigenous Literacy Day, we hope to play a small part in lifting the literacy skills of students in remote areas by raising $500 towards the delivery of 35,000 new books to remote Indigenous communities. To get involved, please have your child donate your good quality second-hand books to the Middle School Library BEFORE Wednesday, and students on the day can bring a gold coi...n in exchange for a book! 15.01.2022 Happy Friday! Last week some Middle School students who had earned Academic Honours and Academic Effort awards this semester were congratulated by our senior staff on their efforts, in a morning tea. Congratulations to all our students who have been working exceptionally hard all semester despite the trying circumstances.

15.01.2022 Students had great fun at the Athletics Carnival last week. It was a great day of high jump, shot put, sprints, long jump and more. To keep the event safe, the number of students attending was reduced. Thanks to our Sports staff for such a fantastic day!

15.01.2022 REMINDER: this not-to-be-missed evening of musical excellence is being streamed tonight and tomorrow! Parents can check their emails for a link to the video.

15.01.2022 Our Year 11 IB Science students last week participated in a learning walk in parts of the city close to SACS, seeking to answer the question 'how healthy is our city'? After hearing from our own Maintenance and Facilities Manager Clinton Gribble, students embarked on a field trip of a city walk through Town Hall, QVB and Darling Harbour to observe health concerns to the community surrounding the school. They're currently working on their group research to then present as a video to others.

14.01.2022 Our Junior School students were treated to a wonderful concert by some of our up-and-coming Infants musicians last week. Thanks to Mrs Kate Robertson for organising our Junior School music students so wonderfully!

At lunch today, our Junior and Middle School Libraries partnered with our Cru Groups to raise money for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation via the Great Book Swap. 12.01.2022 It's been a music marathon in Junior School recently! Our Stage 3 students recently attended a small concert to hear their peers perform some of the musical work they have been practising, from wind and voice all the way through to a cello!

12.01.2022 Year 11 Music students got a taste of the life of an international composer this week when they Zoomed Australian composer Anthony Leigh Dunstan in Amsterdam! He spoke about his process of creating new music, and gave some advice to the music students. Thanks to Anthony for being up so late at night for our students!

11.01.2022 Love is in the air! Yes, it's Valentine's Day this week but we're celebrating a little differently in our Junior School. Love your Library week is an annual opportunity to celebrate the valuable role that libraries play in our lives. Students have been enjoying the library by reading stories, writing cards, and playing games.

11.01.2022 Here's a mid-week music moment for you! Our very talented Year 11 Music 1 students decided to perform this great piece, 'Disco Yes'. It's a revival of the old 'SACS Acoustic Sessions'! Are you a fan?... Thanks to Mr Yoshi Oshiro and the Year 11 Music 1 team for putting this together.

10.01.2022 Guess who visited Gawura today? Our students loved getting a reading and copy of her new book, 'The Grumpy Little Crocodile'.

10.01.2022 You're invited to a Showcase evening unlike any other in our school's history! Tune in on either Wednesday 16 or Thursday 17 September to witness a our incredible music students perform in the newly-renovated Chapter House for the first time. The theme of Into the Light acknowledges the sometimes chaotic and difficult times we have all recently experienced due to the impact of coronavirus. But light means hope: light means the beginning of transformation.

10.01.2022 We held our 'P&F Presents' stream last week which gave some fantastic insights into the ways that St Andrew's seeks to shape and grow our students as leaders in their communities and world. We heard from Head of School Dr John Collier and Deputy Head of School (Strategic Improvement) Dr Julie McGonigle, as well as our Head of Outdoor Education John Chapman and outgoing school captain Harry Carson. Harry even revealed what the school captains discuss at their weekly meetings w...ith Dr Collier! Watch the full event here: https://bit.ly/3h48oLg

10.01.2022 How amazing are these artworks? Our Year 12 HSC Visual Arts students have been working tirelessly to produce their finalised works to be marked by NESA. But before they go, they created an exhibition in our Visual Arts space to show off their incredible results. In a year unlike any other, they have managed to produce some fantastic pieces -- and we're very grateful for the support of their teacher Ms Salier in making it happen.

09.01.2022 Over the holidays we transformed some of the blank walls around our school and things are looking a bit different! With the help of the very talented illustrator Matt Johnstone, we've brought our Character Strengths to life. Character Strengths are the qualities we want to develop in our students. Check out what we've done...

09.01.2022 It was R U OK Day on Friday, but the conversation doesn't stop there. Our student leaders have been encouraging our community to ask our friends and family: are you OK?

The money, which was more than double their target, will go straight to delivering new books and supporting literacy skills in remote Indigenous communities. Thank you for your support, and to the Library and CRU students and staff who worked tirelessly to make the event happen.

05.01.2022 In an emotional assembly on Monday, our Junior School said farewell to our Year 12 students who have been at SACS since Junior School, including seven who have been with us since Kindergarten (our Ultimate Andreans)! We heard from some of the students' much loved primary school teachers who wished them the best of luck in graduating and beyond. And Kindergarten students, who were unable to sing due to Covid restrictions, performed a reading of 'Oh the Places You'll Go'. It's Year 12's penultimate week. We will miss them greatly!

03.01.2022 There are plenty of activities going on for Book Week in the Junior School this week. Yesterday saw most of the children come to school dressed in the costume of their favourite book character, with a parade of costumes bringing plenty of colour to the Cathedral. Thank you to all the parents, students and teachers for making such an amazing effort with costumes!

02.01.2022 After thirteen years of hard work, we thought our Year 12s were deserving of some relaxation... So they celebrated their last day of classes in pyjamas!
