25.01.2022 Afternoon members! An email has been sent out from PCAV in regards to riding under this step towards "COVID normal". See below. The club grounds are still closed but you are now able to trail ride away from HOME.... COVID UPDATE AS AT 29 SEPTEMBER 2020 Metropolitan Melbourne Step 2 From 11:59 pm on 27 September 2020, metropolitan Melbourne moved to the Second Step towards COVID Normal. The DHHS is currently updating their website, however, in summary, exercise is allowed within 5km of your home, or 5km from your workplace if you are on the permitted worker list (you must carry your permit). - You can go riding within 5km of your home, but only where facilities are not required i.e. you can go for a trail ride within 5km of your home but you cannot go to your local club grounds. You must not travel more than 5km from where you live to exercise. - You can also exercise within 5km of your workplace if you are a permitted worker, but you will have to carry your permitted worker permit. - Exercise and outdoor social activity with members of your household or up to five people (including you, and from a maximum of two households) is permitted so long as you do not travel more than 5km. This must be in a public outdoor space and does not apply to people’s backyards or outdoor spaces connected to a home. - You must limit your exercise to no more than two hours per day in total. - Indoor facilities remain closed, unless you are a professional athlete, facility owner (where the facility is not open to the public) or are exempt under high performance guidelines (a permit is required) - Restrictions related to exercising your horse on animal welfare grounds remain unchanged - Coaching (in person) is still prohibited until such time as Metropolitan Melbourne reaches Step 3 restrictions.

23.01.2022 Anyone know a pony that would suit? Hi there, we are the McNeilly family from Smiths Gully. We are reaching out to our local community in search for a beginner pony for our 7 yr old daughter. Must be quiet, not young, no dirt or vices. 13hh would be perfect, but happy to go to 14hh if bombproof Mainly wanting to trail ride so can’t be spooky and must be able to go out with company. Good home assured. Happy to lease or buy. ... Thanks Lucy See more

23.01.2022 Peter & I thank our Pony Club family for your support & the beautiful flowers in this very sad time.

10.01.2022 https://www.gofundme.com/f/andrea039s-road-to-recovery A lot of local kids started their riding through Andrea’s business. Lovely local lady who has worked very hard over the years since moving to Australia.

10.01.2022 Great article for all the parents and towing members to read up on! It’s very important to make sure you understand how much everything weighs in the end and making sure you aren’t overloaded.

09.01.2022 We have been informed from Cathryn Baldwin that this was a fantastic viewing and a must watch. There has also been other webinars to have a squizzy at as well.

06.01.2022 Thank you to all the riders, parents and instructors for an amazing day for our first rally back. Everything ran smoothly and a great time was had by all. See you all on the Sunday 22nd November for our next one

06.01.2022 As a passionate rider and horselover, I promised 4 years ago to develop an equine strategy or plan, for the forgotten female participation sport in the Shire. E...quine sports. Despite some obstacles we persevered, and it’s now a reality. We have many clubs, adult riders, pony clubs, trail clubs, Athra clubs, agistment businesses, feed stores, saddlers, instructors and the list goes on, in the horse business. Now that horses are recognised in Nillumbik just like any other sport, it will be eligible for grants just like other sports. From an economic development and tourism perspective, these clubs and businesses will now be eligible for grants, as well as a sport with participation of women being in the majority. We need to be ready to take advantage of all government grants that will become available post covid. From a mental health point of view, the equine industry and sport in the Shire will play a major role in the rural areas in helping people recover from the lockdowns and all the stresses placed on residents, the majority being female. Another project on its way very soon, is a new skate ramp for Hurstbridge youth, which will free up and enable Hurstbridge horse clubs to renovate and rejuvenate the same area with a $20K grant. A useful and vast addition to the Hurstbridge Club grounds. I will continue to support all sporting clubs as I have in the past 4 years, and horses will be an addition to the list of sports we already have. What others say. I wish to fully endorse Karen Egan for re-election in the upcoming council elections in the shire of Nillumbik. We currently run two horse agistment properties within the shire and Karen has been extremely professional and helpful to deal with and understands the balance required between both local businesses and the environment. We highly recommend her to be re-elected and continue to provide for all residents and local businesses. Regards, Paul Riggs Chapel Lane Equestrian Centre www.chapel-lane.com.au
