Only one parent per family to attend Have a great day and stay safe x

17.01.2022 BODIE "Drowning is noisy. Ill hear my child splashing and struggling in time to help..." MYTH! Maybe in the movies, but not in real life. This myth really endangers young children. They dont have the ability to figure out what to do, such as right themselves or stand up, even in a few inches of water. As a result, they just "slip away" in silence. Toddlers and preschoolers especially need constant adult supervision in and around water.... Most drownings happen during a brief lapse in supervision, when a parent becomes distracted or involved in some other activity. If you have been thinking about getting your child water safe, we can absolutely help! Call 3099 1199 to enquire

17.01.2022 HI SIS! Daniella & Rebecca "Just give her a few summers and shell get the hang of it..." MYTH! Year-round swimming lessons promote water safety and lifetime skills. Swimming is not just for summer. Numerous indoor pools and water parks make swimming a year-round option for recreation, birthday parties, excursions and more. Unstructured seasonal exposure to water can look like progress at first, but often reinforce bad habits. Regression is common among young children that swim only seasonally, so the idea that children will pick up where they left off is not realistic. Children need regular guided practice to learn swimming, and swimming-skill milestones are achieved along with physical and cognitive growth.

17.01.2022 JUST A REMINDER... We are closed at all locations tomorrow the 14th of August for the Public Holiday. You will not be charged if you have a lesson tomorrow.

15.01.2022 Princess Felicity! Swimming improves cognitive function FACT! Yes, swimming is more than a workout for the body! It has been discovered that swimming, due to the immersion in water reducing pressure on the body, increases the flow of blood around the body and to the brain, which in turn helps increase cognitive function, bettering things such as memory and focus. It even encourages the repair and growth of brain cells! In addition, each of the brains lobes is at work when swimming, and the left and right hemispheres work together, resulting in faster learning and better hand-eye coordination. The more you know, right?! Give us a call on 3099 1199 to book swimming lessons today!

11.01.2022 ETHAN Swimming in Winter will make my child sick... MYTH! Germs will make your child sick - whether it is the shops, at kindy or swimming, it is common to pick up a sniffle or virus especially if your child is younger. However, children who regularly exercise, whether it is swimming or doing other activities are less likely to get sick. Physical activity may help flush bacteria out of the lungs and airways. This may reduce your chance of getting a cold, flu, or other illness. Exercise causes change in antibodies and white blood cells. WBCs are the bodys immune system cells that fight disease (sorry to get all technical on you!) Our pool water is heated to 32 degrees in Summer, Autumn, Spring & Winter! Continuing your childs swimming lessons all year round is much more advantageous to them than the stop-and-start method.

09.01.2022 Miss Edie A great thing about swimming is that children of any age or ability can take part and it is more accessible for children with additional needs than almost any other sport. - Swimming provides challenges and rewards accomplishments, which helps children to become self-confident and believe in their abilities.... - Your child will have plenty of opportunities to make friends and grow in confidence. 06.01.2022 Learning to float can be a difficult skill for some children to master. Why do we put such a strong emphasis on teaching kids to be able to swim out, roll independently and float on their back? Many pool accidents are caused when children fall in to water and panic. Floating gives children the ability to roll over to breathe. As part of our Stanford program we always incorporate life saving skills in every lesson.

05.01.2022 IMPORTANT!!! With restrictions in place immediately for homes and outdoors we want to reiterate that we are still able to resume lessons and business as usual. 01.01.2022 Cheeky Monkey Finlay! My child should stop lessons if they pass stage (insert level) MYTH At Stanford, our levels are designed to continue to challenge and develop the learning of children in their swimming skills, and therefore stopping once what is believed to be the basics has been learnt prevents children from increasing their knowledge not only in how to keep themselves safe but also how to save others. Plus, with the benefits of swimming, continuing lessons can only improve your childs development into the best person they can be!

01.01.2022 LACHIE & NOAH "My child loves the water, except when they need to get their face wet..." Reluctance to put the face in the water indicates fear or hesitation. Floatation devices perpetuate this fear by making it easier to keep their head above the surface. Not until children are comfortable becoming fully submerged will they ever be truly comfortable and confident in water. ... Studies show that children who know how to submerge are safer in and around water. They stay calmer under water, and find more recovery strategies should they fall in. At Stanford, we teach submersion techniques to children as young as six months old. The younger a child is exposed, the faster and easier it is for going underwater to become second nature. Older children can overcome their fear and discomfort for submersion with patience and proper coaching, which we specialise in! Call 3099 1199 to enquire.
