11.01.2022 Tackled Mount Everest lately? Make sure you stock up on biltong before you go!! Here’s what Debby has to say about her hiking experience: We travelled in Nov 2017 to the Everest region in Nepal to climb 6200m high Island Peak and to hike the demanding 3 High Passes route, including side trip to Everest Base Camp. Jonty at Stanley Street Butchery was kind enough to supply us with several packets of biltong for our 4 weeks in the high mountains. We carefully rationed the bil...tong to last over the most demanding parts of our journey. Nepal cuisine is basic & rather monotonous with yak/buffalo steak the only source of red meat if available. Jonty’s biltong helped us replenish lost salt & fulfil our meat craving. It was appetising and satisfying. The only problem was we wished we had brought at least twice as many packets with us!! (Thanks to Debby, Martin and Bikram for the awesome pics)
