23.01.2022 Due to illness playgroup and pre-kinder is cancelled for tomorrow. We hope you all enjoy your long weekend :)

22.01.2022 It’s the end of another chilly week. This week we held our school Maths Relay. It was a lot of fun and moving the tables out to the gym made us nice and warm. As a result of the Maths Relay we have been able to select two teams one for grade 3 / 4 and one for grade 5 / 6. Congratulations to these mathematicians who will participate in the Circular Head Maths Relay next week. Congratulations to Lucy, Joshua, Sabella, Tilly, Ryder, Leila, Emma, and Matilda. As always, we hope you have a great weekend with your family and we hope you can stay warm.

21.01.2022 Reminder grade 3 / 4 students have the sports expo tomorrow. This will last most of the day so students will need a cut lunch, drink, warm clothing and a rain coat. The weather forecast for tomorrow is for showers a decision will be made early tomorrow if the event will proceed. If parents act on the assumption that the event is happening then students will be prepared either way. Cake raffle. We will be holding a cake raffle tomorrow to raise funds to support the Country Gold participants. Wouldn’t it be a great way to start the weekend by winning a lovely cake? Tickets will be available from the office.

21.01.2022 Today is the last day of term 2. Term three looks like it will be far closer to normal than we have been for a little while which I know we are all looking forward to. I’d like to thank our school community for the support we have received to date this year. It’s been challenging for the entire community and I would like to thank everyone for the way that people have been flexible and co-operative with the required changes to our normal activities. This week’s newsletter... has some information about next term which I encourage all parents to read. The staff wish you all a happy and above all a safe holiday. We had a great last day of term - "pyjama day", disco, sausage sizzle and a movie. As you can see from the photos, it was a great way to end the term. We look forward to working with you next term to help educate your children. See more

21.01.2022 Wow term 3 is over. We seemed to have crammed a lot of focussed teaching into the term and even managed to get a few off site experiences in for our students; junior swimming, winter sports, 3 / 4 sports expo and even the Country Gold carnival went ahead. (Thanks again to those parents involved with transporting and accommodating children.) Yesterday there was another great experience. After spending much of the term on virtual tours to foreign countries the 5 /... 6 class prepared and ate food from relevant overseas countries. Thanks to Fiona van Norden and Sam for helping out. As you can see from the photos it was a positive experience and a great way to bring all that learning into focus. Although we have photos of the special event food festival I would again like to acknowledge the ongoing day after day work of the staff at the school. Although it is the special events that get the attention it is the day to day teaching that produces results and I thank each and every staff member for their ongoing efforts this term. Today we celebrated the end of term with the traditional end of term 3 footy colours day. There was footy food and themed activities to celebrate our successful term. There are some more photos of the day in our newsletter don’t forget, the newsletter is available directly via our app. Congratulations to our grade 6 students who organised and ran the activities they did a simply outstanding job. Today Mrs Marthick also visited and planted some trees in our grounds with students from the junior class living reminders of her time with us. It was great to see Mrs Marthick looking healthy and relaxed. We need to acknowledge a staffing change today. Mrs Carson (aka Alice) will be taking some leave next term although we hope to see her back next term it will be in a different role. We thank Alice for her wonderful contribution to the kindergarten, wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to her return late next term. We thank you all for your support during the term and look forward to working with you again next term to provide the best education we possibly can to your children. Stay safe and enjoy the break. 18.01.2022 Don't forget Crazy Hair Day tomorrow! Following a request from the Parents & Friends students can wear casual clothes tomorrow. A gold coin donation to the Parents and Friends would be appreciated but is not essential.

18.01.2022 Our "Reading Club" continues to help develop good readers. We put this video together to explain a simple method that parents can use when hearing their children read at home. Thank you for helping your child learn to read.

18.01.2022 Term 3 has certainly commenced with a bang. You will find most of the news associated with the school on our newsletter (available via our school app). We’ve had lots of fun this week but also done some serious learning. Our photos this week show the 5 / 6 class participating in lesson on cyber-bullying. We explained that knowing about cyber-security is a bit like wearing a seat belt in a car you need to know about it before the incident if you want to stay safe. Today we explored the notion of Cyberbullying how not to be a bully and what to do if they experience it. As always, have a great weekend with your family.

15.01.2022 2021 = (9 x 8 +7 +6) x 5 x 4 +321 Happy New Year from the staff at Stanley Primary. As we say goodbye to the the Zoom and doom of last year we look forward to working with you to provide the best education we can for your child in 2021. ... Happy New Year. See more

13.01.2022 The end of another weekand we’ve been busy. A reminder that our newsletter comes home on Fridays and it can be accessed via our school stream app. This week’s edition contains a lot of photos of our wonderful book week parade so don’t miss it. Here is a taster of what you will see in the newsletter. A special thank you to all the adults who helped make such clever costumes. As ways, have a great weekend with your family and enjoy the AFL final.

11.01.2022 Today is the last day of school of a very unusual year. We made a discovery yesterday that puts it into context. As Emma was placing the Citizenship Shield with her name on it on the wall we noticed that her mother, Fiona, was on an earlier Citizenship Shield. We then realised that Fiona’s name was recently added to the life membership shield of the Parents and Friends. We think that this must be a very rare event for a person to be on a shield as both a student and as... a parent in the same school. Congratulations Fiona. (Actually, it gets even better as a life member of the Parents and Friends Fiona joins her parents on that shield as they were life members too.) It made me reflect on just how important our school is to many families and how good times and tough times ebb and flow. But our community remains. We have all been challenged in 2020. But we not only survived in many ways we have thrived. Teachers have delivered a high-quality program again this this year despite the situation. As a school we cannot thank our community enough for your support this year. Your understanding, flexibility, and acceptance that we needed to do things differently this year has been greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank the staff for their amazing efforts this year. The need to acquire new skills rapidly, to master new technology, to care for students who were often worried by events beyond anyone’s control, and then to slowly return to something resembling normal was simply outstanding. Of course, our staff are not robots they managed to maintain high standards at school while their own families were just as heavily impact by 2020 as everyone else. Regardless of their official role in the school all staff know that their number one concern needs to be the welfare of our students. Staff did this brilliantly and I thank them all. We also need to acknowledge just how wonderful our students have been this year. The nightly news carried information that was often scary and confusing. They could tell parents were stressed even if they didn’t really understand why. But, with the resilience that we often forget young people have, they simply made the best of things. To say that we have been proud of their efforts this year is an understatement. If we have learnt anything in 2020, apart from how far 1.5 metres is and how to wash our hands properly, it is the importance of our families, friends and community. Let us hope that we remember that lesson long after the year has faded into history. Merry Christmas to everyone. We hope you are all able to spend time with family and friends over the summer break. We look forward to being your school again next year.

11.01.2022 It has been great to have full classrooms again this week. Thank you to everyone for observing the Stop, Drop and Go method of dropping off and collecting students. This is helping keep us all safe. Unfortunately it may be some time before we can meet together and hold an assembly but we had a large number of students who have been waiting to receive their book and certificates. So we decided to give out the milestone rewards and made a video for you to see them. We hope you enjoy it. Have a great weekend with your family.

11.01.2022 We had a great time on our Water slide today. We hope you enjoy some of the photos. We had to stop the fun because the rain cameand we didn’t want to get wet.

06.01.2022 A reminder that we have school photos tomorrow. We would appreciate it if all students are in full uniform and are at school promptly at the start of the day as photos will be taken at the beginning of the day. Say cheese...

02.01.2022 What a day! Unfortunately due to the weather the selection trials for the Country Gold Carnival had to be postponed until Monday. Students wishing to try out for selection will need to bring the appropriate clothing, lunch etc. and we will try again. It’s been a good week inside lots of work done in all the classrooms. Thank you to everyone for the way students were presented on photo day everyone looked wonderful. We’re sure the photos will be great too. Don’t forget all the information about what is going on in the school is available via our newsletter on our app. As always, have a great weekend with your family we hope you manage to stay warm and dry.

02.01.2022 The Government’s response to the COVID-19 virus is entering a new phase. Our school is officially open again from Monday. That means that ALL students, regardless of the work situation of their parents, can attend school again. We will be doing things a little differently and we must ask that parents adhere to the Stop Drop and Go requirement when bringing students to school or collecting them afterwards. We’ve included a DoE video that explains why our school is considered safe and how we can all keep it that way.

01.01.2022 Learning has been in full swing over the last few weeks. We thought we would share a video grade 5 / 6 made during Health. We have been talking about healthy food and things such as fat / sugar content in food. This is a way we found to show the difference between foods with a lot of fat and foods with minimal (if any). It was a windy when we made the video which impacted a little but we think you might enjoy it.
