23.01.2022 Enough is enough. Let's be the agents of change and say NO to mining of water in rural Australia to put in plastic bottles
20.01.2022 Why we should be paying more attention to water for climate control as well as resilience. "The important thing to realise is that we can restore ecosystems, t...hese environments that have nurtured and sustained us, and bring heat and water dynamics back into balance. Because natural processes are so entwined, every step toward regeneration brings multiple co-benefits: more plants mean more photosynthesis, which means more carbon pulled from the atmosphere into the soil, where it adds fertility; every 1% increase in soil organic carbon represents an additional 250,000 litres per hectare that can be held on the land; the more water held on the land, the greater resilience to floods and drought." https://www.theguardian.com//climate-change-water-fossil-f
14.01.2022 3rd water truck this morning just passed our house in Stanley,on it's way to Albury to be bottled. Very hard to tolerate. Very difficult to reconcile this activity with what is happening in Australia at present.
05.01.2022 The expert witness report to VCAT from Professor Peter Dalhaus included : The groundwaters and surface waters of the Cue Springs area are well connected, with groundwater discharge from the Fractured Rock Aquifer sustaining surface water flows. Posted by a local farmer: This is Burgoigee Creek just off Flagstaff 2km from the Cue Springs Stanley Water mine. ... It has stopped. It was still holding water in the millennium drought - indeed provided critical water supply for fire fighting in 2003. We have the fire season upon us And the water trucks keep rolling on by. We have to stop water mining.
