24.01.2022 If I had my child to raise all over again, I’d build self-esteem first, and the house later. I’d finger-paint more, and point the finger less. I would do less correcting and more connecting. I’d take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.... I’d take more hikes and fly more kites.I’d stop playing serious, and seriously play. I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars .I’d do more hugging and less tugging. ~ Diane Loomans

23.01.2022 How about kindness as an advent practice?

22.01.2022 For the feast of St Francis of Assisi. Be praised, my Lord, through all your creatures, especially through my lord Brother Sun, who brings the day; and you give light through him.... And he is beautiful and radiant in all his splendour! Of you, Most High, he bears the likeness. Be praised, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars; in the heavens you have made them, precious and beautiful. Be praised, my Lord, through Brothers Wind and Air, and clouds and storms, and all the weather, through which you give your creatures sustenance. Be praised, My Lord, through Sister Water; she is very useful, and humble, and precious, and pure. Be praised, my Lord, through Brother Fire, through whom you brighten the night. He is beautiful and cheerful, and powerful and strong. Be praised, my Lord, through our sister Mother Earth, who feeds us and rules us and produces various fruits with coloured flowers and herbs. Be praised, my Lord, through those who forgive for love of you; through those who endure sickness and trial. Happy those who endure in peace, for they will be crowned. ~ St. Francis of Assisi

22.01.2022 For me, to be a saint is to be myself. Therefore the problem of sanctity and salvation is in fact the problem of finding out who I am and discovering my true self." (Thomas Merton) Contemplative Evening Prayer Online 7pm tonight https://zoom.us/ ID: 688 852 424

22.01.2022 As we're facing more JobSeeker cuts it's going to plunge people back into poverty, choosing between necessary medication and fresh food. We're urging everyone to sign the petition and lift JobSeeker above the poverty line for good: https://www.bsl.org.au/raisetherate/ #raisetherateforgood #CovertheBasics

18.01.2022 "We must try to understand the meaning of the age in which we are called to bear witness. We must accept the fact that this is an age in which the cloth is being unwoven. It is therefore no good trying to patch. We must, rather, set up the loom on which coming generations may weave new cloth according to the pattern God provides."

18.01.2022 Sabbath might be saying that at least one seventh of life must be about non-performance and non-egocentric pursuit, or we forget our life’s purpose.

05.01.2022 "Christian expectation of the future has nothing whatsoever to do with the end, whether it be the end of this life, the end of history, or the end of the world. Christian expectation is about the beginning: the beginning of true life, the beginning of God's kingdom, and the beginning of the new creation of all things into their enduring form" ~ Jürgen Moltmann (Thanks +Jeremy)

04.01.2022 Time does not always need to be filled...

04.01.2022 The tradition of Advent candles is a Christian practice that represents the four weeks of preparation for Christmas... 1/ 1st purple Bethlehem Candle is a candle of prophecy or hope; 2/ 2nd purple Bethlehem Candle is for peace or preparation; 3/ A rose Shepherd Candle symbolised love; ... 4/ 3rd purple Angel Candle represented joy; and 5/ A final pure white Christ Candle marks the birth of the Son of God.
