23.01.2022 Happy feast day, parishioners of St Anthony’s, Deeragun, Catholics celebrate the memorial of St Anthony of Padua, priest and doctor of the Church, today. On this same day, we are reopening the Church that takes him as a patron saint. He must be a good guy and one who does great work before God and among his fellow saints. We know St Anthony as one helps us to find lost things and many of us may have called upon him for help - to find what was lost. Through so many and differ...ent life challenges, and in the most recent months, through the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on all of us, we seem to be lost and distressed. This sense of lost, may have affected our faith and zeal to gather and worship God as a community of Christ’s faithful. If this is how we feel, know that we are not lost. Let us invite this Saint who does an excellent job in helping people to find lost stuff, that through his intercessions and by the power of the Holy Spirit - that all we may have lost on our journey of faith will be recovered and renewed as the door of our Church is flung open. Henceforth, may we all be strengthened by God’s word, nourished by Christ’s Body and Blood as we gather around the Eucharistic table, united in love by the Holy Spirit. Fr Vitalis C. Oguh

13.01.2022 With the imminent reopening of our Church, please see below some guidelines from Bishop Timothy J. Harris for your considerations: *Those who are sick are advised to stay at home *Those who are over 65 and vulnerable, and those with existing medical conditions are advised to stay at home *Indigenous peoples over 50 are encouraged to carefully consider their vulnerability... *Priests handling vessels and books for set-up to also then clean up so as to reduce possibility of contagion *All in attendance are to sanitize their hands upon entering and leaving the Church *Social distancing to be observed in seating and general movement, especially the Communion line. *The communal Sign of Peace is not to be exchanged physically *Communion is only to be distributed under the Host and *Communion in the hand is strongly encouraged *Only the Priest will distribute Holy Communion and he will sanitize his hands before and after distribution of Holy Communion *The pews in use are to be cleaned after each service, as are all frequently touched surfaces. *Communion to the sick - training is to be provided for ministers on safe and healthy practices. This is only a few of the things considered in the reopening of St Anthony's Church. Watch this space!! Fr Vitalis C. Oguh.
