25.01.2022 What a fun morning to start our Book Week at Stanthorpe Kindy. The children from group 1 were very brave at this mornings parade annoucning to the audience who they were dressed up as. We love celebrating reading and it was lovely to have a few parents and grandparents stay to read to the children today. We read many books during this week and the children have already enjoyed being actively engaged in shared reading and language experiences. During group time discussions yesterday the children agred that books were important saying that they help us to learn and make us smile. They described their world would be empty, nothing to read and no pictures and colour if books didnt exsist. I agreed!! Happy Book Week !!

24.01.2022 As we have been talking about looking after our teeth and healthy eating so we decided to invite personal trainer Kristy Acquisto from Kristy Acquisto Personal Training and Group Fitness to visit us. Both groups had the pleasure of experiencing a movement class with Kristy where we learnt that being active is fun!! At Stanthorpe Kindy we incorporate physical activitity and games at every opportunity. The children are acknowledging phyical activities and music as a form of exercise and that moving is good for your body.

18.01.2022 We feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to have Postman Max visit our Kindergarten again this year. Postman Max is not only a community helper but a grandparent to Beau in group 1. The children absolouley loved hearing about your job within our community and how the mail is sorted and delivered. We expecially liked having a go at the horn on your motorbike and watching you ride the bike out of the Kindy yard. Thank you Postman Max.

15.01.2022 From little things big things grow... During Reconciliation week last week we held many discussions around our Australians first people. The children had the opportunity to take a closer look at some Aboriginal dot art and experiement with this type of painting, use natural resources such as charocaol, bark, sticks and rocks to paint on and with and we looked at some dreamtime stories and retold these stories by drawing symbols in sand. The childen have also enjoyed taking p...art in our acknowledgement of counrty where we all meet and make a cicrle and say thankyou for letting us share the land. This has been an exciting journey for the children and embeding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are part of our everyday practices. This has been a collaborative approach where educators and children worked to research, observe, explain and question why it is so important to share our land. What a fun, age approapraite and meaningful way to take part and make a difference!! See more

10.01.2022 We have been very busy in the vegetable garden at Kindy. One month ago the children helped Miss Fran plant the seedings that Jamesons family kindy donated. As the new built up vegetable gardens are the first thing you see as you come through the gate at Kindy we have been very interested in watching their growth each week. We pride in the children being involved, taking ownership and showing interest in sustainable pracitces. We are looking forward to harvest time so that we can incorporate cooking with the produce into our program. Here at Stanthorpe Kindergarten we are connected to a sustainabe world and communicate our commitmentment to a sustainable future!
