24.01.2022 REINFORCING RULES FOR STANTHORPE SHOWGROUNDS The Stanthorpe Agricultural Society would like to start the year by reinforcing a few rules that apply to the Stanthorpe Showgrounds. Unfortunately over the past few months showgrounds staff have had to deal with a number of issues that for some reason or another seem to be escalating. So here are some reminders: - The Society is a not for profit incorporated association. The showgrounds are not owned by the Southern Downs Region...al Council. - Whilst the showgrounds are a community facility, no one should access the Stanthorpe Showgrounds unless they have a legitimate reason for being there. - Please notify the caretaker of your arrival and reason for being there so that he doesn't have to chase you up. - The gates are being locked/shut so that visitors can be monitored. - More surveillance cameras are being installed around the grounds. - Water is only available to patrons camping on the grounds, who fill up their water tanks when they leave. Luckily most campers understand we are in severe water restrictions and choose not to fill up using Stanthorpe water. - The dump point can only be used by campers staying on the grounds. - There is a limit to the number of campers we can have on the grounds and unfortunately, when we reach that limit we have to turn campers away. - There is also a set area on the grounds where campers can set up. You cannot set up where you like. The caretaker will place you in a spot. - The amenities are only open for campers to use, or for people to use who have a legitimate reason for being on the grounds. Please keep the amenities clean or report any issues to the caretaker. Unfortunately our amenities are being abused and vandalised at the moment, either by people being caught short or by people stealing sanitiser and soap. Only a limited number of amenity blocks will be open at any given time. - There is a 5kmph speed limit around the grounds. - Horses cannot be ridden casually on the grounds unless part of an event or if riders have their own insurance. - If the caretakers ask you a question, please respond in a civilised manner. One of their roles is to monitor security on the grounds and they are acting on behalf of the Society when they are doing their surveillance checks. They do not deserve to be abused when performing their duties. If anyone has any questions about the Society's activities or about the showgrounds themselves, please call the secretary on 07 4681 2107 or message this FB page. We are only to happy to let you know what you can and can't do on the grounds. We are trying to get back to some sense of normality post COVID and are looking forward to the 2021 Bendigo Bank Stanthorpe Show and an eventful 2021.
