25.01.2022 A belated congratulations to Megan and Paul who became engaged a couple of weeks ago. So very exciting for us and them!!! Especially as they missed an overseas holiday this year too! Love.......1 thing Covid has not stopped.

25.01.2022 Monday of another week and what a beautiful day it is. With the uncertainty relating to COVID-19 in the South East Queensland community, we have decided as of tomorrow, 04/08/2020,to again resume restricted services with PATIENTS ONLY being allowed in the clinic. We will be asking all clients/owners to either come to the side window for assistance (maintaining social distance of course) or please wait in your vehicles and phone us for assistance and we will come to you. I a...pologise in advance for the inconvenience this will no doubt cause. COVID is what it is and these are uncertain times! We are taking this precaution to protect our staff and you, our clients, from COVID risk. We need to be able to maintain our ability to treat your precious pets especially in cases of emergencies. Of course IF YOU ARE UNWELL, we ask you stay home and not attend our clinic. If you need veterinary attention please phone us from home for a plan to get your family member Veterinary assistance. Please don't hesitate to call us if you have any queries on 4681 1523. See more

25.01.2022 With spring finally upon us the lovely warm days have seen many of our 4 legged friends enjoying a swim at the creek or dam. One of our favourites came in today for a spring freshen up so he can enjoy a frollick in the water and dry nice and quickly without his thick winter coat. Thanks for visiting us Oscar. We loved having you with us for the morning Such a happy gorgeous boy

25.01.2022 Not to mention getting a little 'sparkle' back in your step. She looks so much happier now she's been pampered!!

24.01.2022 I know we're a bit slow to post but its been a week since Sophie left us for a new path in her future. She has left us to move with her partner to Ipswich and starts her new position there shortly. Thanks Sophie for everything you have done in the past couple of years for us and our patients. We wish you both all the best in your future together. See you at your visits when you drop in

24.01.2022 Hendra virus is a deadly disease that affects horses. This makes the virus very concerning. Unfortunately it can also spread to humans with a high fatality rate. It is this reason that it is is of even more concern. There is a group that monitors viruses like Hendra Virus - the BatOneHealth group. They are predicting that winter 2020 represents a period of heightened risk for Hendra virus spillover. This year is similar to previous years that have had a large number of hendr...a virus cases including the one in Scone that was well away from any other previous infections. Consider this your reminder to vaccinate your horses!! Due to the shortage of PPE from Covid-19 we made the decision we will no longer be attending sick horses that are un-vaccinated for Hendra virus. We will still attend unwell horses that are vaccinated. We will still attend well horses eg lameness, dentals etc. This disease is another one that is so preventable. See more

22.01.2022 Well, last Thursday was a sad day!! Most of you would not have heard but it was Zoe's last day as a full time vet nurse and practice manager here at Stanthorpe Vet Care! After 7 years, Zoe has decided to turn her hand to nursing Humans! and what a time to do that. She will remain here doing a Saturday shift every 3 wks or so and continuing to do some of the business side of our work and maybe the odd afterhours. It's a bit sad we could not even have a staff party for her... due to the social distancing restrictions! I have loved every minute of working with Zoe over the years. She is caring, dedicated, loves her patients and will always go the extra mile. She loves teaching every thing she knows to everyone who comes through here either nurses or vets or school students and will always push us vets as well. She is always keen to come in to help for any after hours emergencies or anything else for that matter. I am going to miss her terribly including all the help and support she has given me and my team over the years and I know you are all going to miss her terribly also! The entire team here is going to miss you Zoe and we don't know qutie how much yet!! I realise you can't all come in person to thank Zoe and wish her well, but messages will be well received!! Thank-you Zoe from the bottom of my heart (and everyone who works here). WE LOVE YOU and those BROWS!! See more

22.01.2022 Welcome to the madhouse Marigold!! We have decided to adopt her and she now lives here. Look out for her on ur visits. She is totally sweet

21.01.2022 Pet of The Month April's pet of the month is Molly the Border Collie! She has been visiting us regularly throughout April to have her arthritis attended to - she was also one of our many patients this month to have a grass seed removed from her eye by our vets - ouch! Her eye recovered well with medications given diligently by her owners, and her aches and pains are improving in leaps and bounds as well! Molly is always a model patient and is very trusting with us during treatments - not to mention, she is extremely beautiful and an absolute darling

21.01.2022 Christmas is coming

20.01.2022 Look at Mr slick!! Looking a million bucks don't you think???

20.01.2022 PARVO OUTBREAK!!!!!! 4 CONFIRMED CASES The virus initially attacks the cells of the small intestine, causing vomiting and severe bloody, mucousy and foul-smelling diarrhoea. This illness causes severe dehydration and often blood and protein loss, and affected dogs can die within a few days. Treatment involves aggressive IV fluid treatment, gastroprotectant medications, intensive nursing care (to clean up the constant mess) and often supplem...entation of the dog’s proteins via canine plasma administration. During treatment the patient is kept in an isolation ward, to prevent spread of the virus around the hospital. Dogs rarely survive without treatment and, unfortunately, this disease is still sometimes fatal even with the best treatment. The virus is spread by unvaccinated dogs coming in contact with the virus from faeces of infected dogs or in the environment. The virus can live in the soil for years, or on other contaminated surfaces for as long as 6 months. Humans can also unknowingly transmit the virus on the bottom of their shoes or on their car tyres. So just because your dog or pup does not contact other dogs, does not mean it is safe. Although puppies are more commonly affected by this virus, adult dogs can certainly contract it if un-vaccinated. It is vital that new puppies are kept at home until they have had their full course of vaccinations. PLEASE VACCINATE NOW!! WE CAN NEVER ASK TOO MANY TIMES AS WE HAVE NOW HAD 4 CASES HERE. THE COST TO TREAT IS OVER $1000 AND THE COST OF VACCINATIONS IS LESS THAN $100. FIND THE MONEY TO VACCINATE NOW RATHER THAN TRY TO FIND THE MONEY TO TREAT See more

05.01.2022 Again, the borders are to be closed to NSW. At this stage, we imagine conditions will return to what they were prior to opening the borders. As we are a border community, we are a little special and different to the rest of the state. If there is concern about the care of your animals, rest assured, we are here to help. Essential workers will be able to cross the border so if necessary, we can come to you. Please continue to let us know if you are unwell or have returned to the area from another state. If you need any assistance, don't hesitate to call us. 46811523

It has made our week
