25.01.2022 30+ club members attended the pre-swim water safety meeting. At this stage the swim is still on. A review will be completed by 7:00 am... A post will be made as soon as the decision is made.

22.01.2022 An email has recently been sent out to everyone who had entered the event on-line. STANWELL PARK OCEAN CHALLENGE... Hi Ocean Swimmer, Thanks for entering the Stanwell Park Ocean Challenge, which was postponed last Sunday, March 17. And please accept our apologies for not getting back to you earlier regarding future arrangements for this swim. Were travelling at the moment (in New Zealand with a peloton of oceanswimsafarists) so our routines have been disrupted. At the time of postponement last Sunday, organisers had hoped to be able to arrange a new date later this season. That has not been possible, however, due to various logistical issues. So they have instead decided to postpone to the earlier part of next season, with the regular occasion of the event taking place in March. That means, the Stanwell Park Ocean Challenge will run twice in season 2019/20. As an online entrant for last Sunday, your entry will roll-over automatically to the postponement date of Sunday, December 8. If you would prefer to roll-over to the later date, Sunday, March 15, then you have a window of month to let us know. Otherwise, your entry will be included for the December date. Its good to see this swim back after an hiatus of several years. Were looking forward to doing it. Not for nothing do the organisers refer to it as The Big Swim of the South. 20.01.2022 The Equilibrium Healthcare Stanwell Park Ocean Swim Committee has met this evening and decided to postpone the swim until November/December 2019. As always the main concern is the safety of the swimmers participating in the event, the club wants to ensure that enough suitably qualified water safety personnel are available for the event. 17.01.2022 The Stanwell Park Ocean Swim Organising Committee met on Thursday, 12 March 2020 to discuss the swim. Based on the forecasts at the time of the meeting the predicted swells were 5m with 3.5m surf, along with wind speeds over 40 km/h, low temperatures and some rain, it was decided in to cancel the swim for 2020 and look to run the swim again in 2021. The committee have selected some dates towards the end of March 2021, these are yet to be confirmed with oceanswims.com... Feel free to message the committee if you have any questions.

14.01.2022 Stanwell Park about 8am this morning. Waves breaking between stanwell park and coalcliff, it would have been a very long and difficult swim with large swells between the start and finish points Good day to stay in bed.

10.01.2022 The Club Captains from Helensburgh-Stanwell Park and Coalciff Surf Club have deemed the conditions unsuitable for an Ocean Swim today. Apologies to all swimmers who have come the Stanwell Park Beach for the swim. Arrangements will be made in the coming days regarding this swim.... The decision was made for the safety of the swimmers and the water safety.

09.01.2022 Swimmers and Spectators best parking for the swim on Sunday is, - Stanwell Park Beach Reserve at the end of Station Street, then access the surf club via the tracks to the beach - Stanwell Avenue, then access the surf club via the track at the beach end of the road near the pre-school... Beach Road has limited parking and needs to be clear for the bus to access the surf club

06.01.2022 If you are interested, here is the planned course. It is obviously just a representation and the actual course will depend on conditions on the day. The organizers are making use of the latest Surf Life Saving technology and will have 2 UAVs (drones) flying the course prior to and during the swim, checking on conditions and unwanted marine life. 6 IRBs and 2 RWC (Jetskis) will be patrolling the course along with lifesavers on rescue boards and rescue tubes on the shore.... There will also be observers posted along the course on the cliffs, utilising viewing platforms created by the Grand Pacific Walk. The safety of swimmers during this event is paramount,

Pre-registered swimmers will be contacted by email about rolling their registration over to the later date, and further information about the swim will be available on the Surf Club Website and posted here....
