10.01.2022 "Hello everyone. My name is Lyn Fetherston and I am Treasurer of Stanwell Park Tennis Club. Our next AGM will be on Wednesday, 22 February, 2017 at 7.00 pm at the Clubhouse. We are urging anyone in seeing the Club continue to attend the meeting. We are in dire financial straits and are unable to keep the club functioning without your support. There are many people in Stanwell Park who continually cut holes in the fence to play tennis for free. This is lost revenue for th...e club and additional maintenance costs for us. We cannot continue in this way for much longer. We receive no funding from Council or any other body. If the situation continues, we will have to fold the club and give the Courts back to the Council. Then no-one will be able to play tennis in Stanwell Park any more. On a personal note, I have been a member of t he club for about 25 years and have been treasurer for about 20 of those years. I dont remember the situation ever being this bad. 05.01.2022 OK people, Im an old surfie on a mission!!!! Only about half a century ago, I was a teenage surfie on Stanwell Park Beach. We had a weekender shack in Hillsid...e Crescent, and I kept my battered old malibu surfboard there for weekends. One weekend I just walked away from that old board and left it on the beach. It was so waterlogged and damaged I simply couldnt be bothered dragging it back home one more time... AND NOW IM HOPING ITS STILL UNDER SOMEONES HOUSE.... It was 93" long, and had a single wooden stringer that ran along the deck of the board but not underneath it. The fin was hand painted black with red and yellow hot rod flames on it, and on the deck was a homemade logo with Johnny Harts B.C on it, holding a board hacked from a tree trunk. The bottom of the board was a mass of repaired dings, there were heaps of them! IS IT UNDER YOUR HOUSE OR IN YOUR GARAGE RAFTERS?

03.01.2022 Back when I was child in Stanwell Park Beach I saved a seed from a fruit I had eaten and potted it in a container. Amazingly it grew. My father planted it in th...e ground near where one of our deceased dogs was buried and it morphed into a vigorous shrub. We had fruit from it after about only three years - several hundred each year, usually in late autumn. It died inexplicably after about 10 years. In contrast, I bought a sapling about eight years ago to plant at my parents home on the Sunshine Coast - which is a commercial Lychee growing area, and has more agreeable conditions. It hasnt grown at all and looks pathetic. Does anyone know what might be amiss? See more
