16.01.2022 A huge thank you to Debbie Dann who has been the administrative backbone of STAP for the past 2 years. Today was her last official day as her role with Griffith University has ended and she has been invaluable over the past month supporting us through the handover to Benchmark Psychology. We wish Debbie all the best in her future endeavours

15.01.2022 The APS is pleased to announce that the 2020 Federal Budget includes a doubling of the number of Medicare-funded psychology sessions for all Australians regardl...ess of location, for an initial 2 year period. 15.01.2022 Supervisors with BAS status expiring in 2018 Board-approved supervisor (BAS) status is reviewed every five years, and evidence of completion of at least a one-day Board-approved master class must be supplied to the Board. All supervisors who were Board-approved before July 2013 (when the Guidelines for supervisors and supervisor training providers came in to effect), will need to complete a master class and apply to maintain BAS status by 30 June 2018. This includes all super...visors who transitioned to the National Scheme as an approved supervisor in 2010. The majority of Board-approved supervisors have a BAS expiry date of 30 June 2018. You can check your expiry date on the supervisor online services portal. To help meet demand, the Board has approved six new providers of master classes, as detailed below. This is in addition to 11 existing providers of both full training and master class workshops. You are encouraged to review the master classes on offer across the country. Website links and contact details for all Board-approved providers are available on the supervisor training page of the Boards website. If you have not yet completed your training, the Board encourages you to enrol in a master class as soon as possible. This will ensure you have the widest choice of workshop providers, topics and dates. When you have completed your training, you should notify AHPRA by applying to maintain your approval for another five years. The application form to maintain BAS status, MBAS-76, is available on the forms page of the Boards website. There is no fee for this application, and approval will be for five years from the date that you completed your training program. If you have not completed the minimum training requirements and lodged your form for renewal before 30 June 2018, your BAS status will lapse. Do not wait until the deadline is approaching to enrol in a training program, as there is no guarantee there will be master class capacity at that time. For more information on how to maintain BAS status, and other questions related to supervision, see the Boards supervision FAQ. See more

12.01.2022 Do you have questions about becoming a supervisor? You might find your answer here: http://www.psychologyboard.gov.au//FAQ/Supervision-FAQ.aspx

11.01.2022 Privacy during a pandemic One of the issues that potentially arises for us as psychologists is what to do if we are asked to provide personal details of our clients as part of contact-tracing in the event that a client or a psychologist tests positive for Covid-19. This is one of those situations that is unprecedented certainly so no clear answer exists. So we have sought some information and summarised below.... We operate under the justice ion of the privacy act (1988). Under this act, privacy is not absolute. If you "... reasonably believe.. that the disclosure is necessary to lessen or prevent a serious threat to the life, health.. of any individual, or to public health you are able to breach confidentiality. Please be aware, data that is released should be minimised - name and phone number. We also keep a register of visitors (yesterday this included a builder and an air-con specialist). These details would also be released as part of contact tracing, which would minimise the potential for identification. The underlying principle is balance, if your disclosure of personal information means the reasonable person test of being essential to prevent public harm then we are obliged to do so. With special thanks to Lee Beames, Roger Dooley and Kim Halford who all contributed to this advice. Aaron

08.01.2022 Exciting development for STAP As many of you would know, I have been running the 2-day STAP skills training workshops for almost 10 years, and have also run two of the refresher masterclasses. Griffith University and Benchmark Psychology recently signed a partnership agreement whereby administration and delivery of STAP will be taken over by Benchmark.... The training will remain the same, but we hope to streamline administrative processes and modernise delivery. Griffith University, in particular, Prof Analise ODonovan remain actively involved in ensuring that STAP maintains its rigorous standards. Analise asked me to pass this message on as she is not an active Facebook user. Dear Colleagues, Thank you for your involvement in STAP - some of you for many years, and some more recently part of our professional community. STAP has been providing supervision training and evaluation since late 2004, within the auspices of Griffith University. Most recently, Griffith has gone into partnership with Benchmark Psychology which is owned and operated by Dr Aaron Frost Many of you will be familiar with Aaron as has been running STAP 2 day training workshops since 2011. Analise

07.01.2022 PsyBA approved additional "flexibility" for interns during the COVID-19 pandemic There is a lot to read, and we would suggest you read it all, but there are a number of highlights to be aware of for both supervisors and supervises - More flexibility in CPD for supervisees... - Board has accepted direct observation to include observing recorder telehealth sessions - Increase the amount of leave that a supervisee can take to 6 months - Board to consider extensions to the 5 year limit to complete - Online proctoring to be included in the National Psychology exam Can I encourage everyone to read this FAQ section in detail https://www.psychologyboard.gov.au//FAQ/Internship-FAQ.aspx
