22.01.2022 Today is the start of Week 3 of Active August. With the uncertainty and restrictions surrounding COVID-19 this year the Gladstone Ports Corporation are unable to host their signature community event, Botanic to Bridge. So, the GPC created the Active August campaign to continue providing financial support to the community whilst also celebrating active, healthy lifestyles. OUR GOAL... Gladstone to San Francisco - 11,290km San Francisco to London 8,630km TOTAL 19,920km Every step you take is one step closer to that goal. You can walk, jog, skip, run or participate in an exercise class or activity. Please use this form to keep track of how far you go. https://forms.gle/j1DipmNNQCp2a3xbA
21.01.2022 With the uncertainty and restrictions surrounding COVID-19 this year the Botanic to Bridge annual event has been cancelled. So, the GPC has created the Active August campaign to continue providing financial support to the community whilst also celebrating active, healthy lifestyles. RUN JOG WALK BE ACTIVE How many kilometres can your school achieve each week? Maybe you can walk to Sydney, Perth, London, San Francisco, even around the world? The five schools walking the... most kilometres in a week will be recognised through social media channels at the beginning of the following week. CHALLENGE This is a movement challenge. The idea is to tally up as many kilometres as possible each week as well as for the month of August? HOW Every time you exercise, keep track of how far you go. You can walk, jog, skip, run or participate in an exercise class or activity. Use the following to record your distances: - 1500 steps = 1km 3 laps of school oval = 1km 10 minute brisk walk = 1km 6 minute steady jog = 1km 10 minutes skipping = 1km 20minutes(fitness/dance class) = 1km STAR OF THE SEAS GOAL Teachers will be entering the steps for their classes during the school day but we also need parents to help us reach our goal. If all parents could record any steps your children do through the week by filling in the form at this link. we would really appreciate it. We have some Active August caps to give to the first 20 children who record their steps. https://forms.gle/ELwb59CkcSK2pjFP7

12.01.2022 Its Catholic Education Week and we have so much to celebrate!
11.01.2022 A highlight of our Catholic Education Week celebrations is the recognition of our Spirit of Catholic Education Week Award recipients. These awards are presented to people who have made a significant contribution to the life of our school community. This years Awards were presented by Fr Andrew Chase to a beloved Staff Member, Mrs Louise Hanrahan, and a generous and hardworking family in our school, the Nash family. Louise has been a part of our community for the past 20 year...s and has worked in many different roles, sharing her talents and her love of Star of the Sea. For the majority of people who become part of our school community, she is the first person they meet and she works hard to make sure each person feels welcome and special. Louise also cares for each child and family as though they are her own and, no matter what the job is, she tackles it with a smile on her face. The Nash family have been an integral part of the Star of the Sea community since 2010. They are faithful members of the Parents and Friends group and have spent many hours volunteering their time and talent to build community and enhance the learning environment for our children. It is not just Sean and Teresa that take on these volunteering roles though. Their three children have spent hours, lifting, washing and doing whatever job they are given without complaint. In a year where we have not been allowed to have our volunteers in our school we have come to appreciate even more strongly the precious gift that our parent volunteers give us and the Nash family are a wonderful example of that generosity. Congratulations Louise, Sean, Teresa, Zarah, Jadyn and Dawson and thank you!

05.01.2022 The Feast of the Assumption of Mary is an important one for our school who has Mary as its namesake. We are grateful to our Year 3 and Year 5 classes who organised a beautiful liturgy to celebrate this feast together. It was also wonderful to have Father Andrew with us to lead our liturgy and to visit some of our classes last week.

02.01.2022 Today is the Feast Day of the Holy Name of Mary. With Our Lady Star of the Sea as our namesake, this is a special day for our school and we celebrated yesterday with a whole school liturgy, some Feast Day cake and some classroom activities led by our Year 6 students. Fr Simeon reminded us that we prayed for and remembered not only the students, parents, staff, religious and parishioners who make up our school today but all those who have been a part of our story throughout the past 118 years. He told us that we must all shine our light brightly so everyone will know how special Star of the Sea is. Happy Feast Day everyone
01.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all of our Dads and Grandads and all of those men who care for our children. We hope you feel our love and appreciation for all you do.
