13.01.2022 Star Physio WA Lets talk about exercise. Something that should at least be discussed in every treatment session. Its probably something that a lot of us want to do more of, or maybe something that some of us do too much of! But in the clinical setting, its one of the most important things we can prescribe as health professionals. In a physio clinic, its one of the most important interventions, as it has been proven to give long term benefits and not just throw a band-aid ...on top of a problem. As an RMT, exercise can seem like its outside of my scope, but it definitely isnt. I know that massage can help with temporary blockers which might impair movement and therefore exercise, with the goal of getting patients moving again to complete their every day activities. In all of my treatments I strive to at least discuss exercise with patients to try and find an exercise that fits with their interests and beliefs. Not everyone wants to lift weights, so its important to find an exercise that people enjoy to get the most out of their treatment.
