25.01.2022 E bikes are all the rage and we've sold a few lately but this one is something special. Full carbon frame Norco Range VLT C1. Expensive but a truly awesome bike !

24.01.2022 The last of our Vortex BMX bikes are now for sale. Very limited quantity available and will not be made again. Crmo frame and fork, alloy wheels, brakes, stem and bars. Sealed bb with 3 piece cranks. $349

21.01.2022 About an hour after the white ladies bike below came in, I saw this photo of another of our bikes on facebook, with the owner asking if anyone knew much about the brand. Probably understandable as he lives in Toowoomba and hadn't seen the name before. First thing I told him was that he doesn't get out enough if he hadn't heard of Elizabeth Star. Our bikes certainly get around!

21.01.2022 Well, the skidkid bars I made are all sold. In fact, I thought I kept one for myself but then realised I had sold them all. I need to make another couple for myself,so I'm doing another small batch this week. If you wish to pre-order let me know.

20.01.2022 We built up a fairly unique special order over the last week. Our customer requested one of our retro e-stay frames painted in our 80's signature black and neon yellow crackle paint. Then assembled to his specifications. I think it turned out as a very impressive machine for everyday commuting.

20.01.2022 We often get asked about the difference between cheap department store bikes and higher priced bikes in our shop. We also recognize that there is a place for them out there as not everyone needs or can afford a higher priced bike and many of them do look pretty good. This week we encountered a point of difference that we should share. A brand new bike was bought in as the owner couldn't adjust the brakes to work. Al adjusted them as well as possible and got them working... satifactorily but noticed the tyres were a little flat. He inflated them to recommended pressure, gave the wheels a spin to ensure correct seating of the bead. They didn't spin as the brake pads were now up against the rim wall. The inflation of the tyre to 60 psi had actually forced the sidewall of the rim outwards to the brake, a distance of about 2 mm each side ! I guess that reducing the rim material strength is a cost cutting exercise to keep price down. See more

18.01.2022 Next week we are running a special deal on 700x 25c tyres. Black with gumwall. $12 each. Buy two for $10 each. Get in early, no holds

17.01.2022 Looking for a unique gift for your bike riding father? Our Cyclox are available from $50 and we even do custom orders. Get in early for Fathers Day!

14.01.2022 Our first batch of straight skidkid forks is completed. Looking pretty good even if I do say myself. Let me know if you would like a set and I'll put them aside

13.01.2022 Bikes are continuing to be in chronic short supply but we're still building them to keep our customers happy. Just finished a couple of BMX's in our next batch. These two are sold but there's a few more being assembled in the next few days, time permitting. Available in red, blue, purple, green and gold

10.01.2022 Our last run of BMX bikes is underway. These are selling fast so don't delay securing yours.

08.01.2022 Our first project next week is another vintage salvage job. This early Super Elliott has a broken down tube, so with a bit of careful heat I'm hoping the tubing comes away from the ornate lugs cleanly. The lugwork is so delicate that it's very easy to break and destroy the appearance. Fingers crossed

07.01.2022 Just because a frame looks nice doesn't necessarily mean it's well made. Example of an attractive frame but the build quality leaves a lot to be desired. Absolutely no penetration of the brazing medium resulting in the tube pulling out of the bb shell. Rebrazed with good penetration and also a little bronze inside the seat tube joint just in case it's the same. Now a little cleaning up and quick touch up of paint to get back on the road.

06.01.2022 Another one of our locally made bikes bought in for some restoration and, knowing by the serial number when it was made, I decided to see if I could find the sales receipt in our box of receipt books. Didn't take long, sold on the 4th April 1986. Should come up well for a 34 year old bike, pearl white paint is still very good.

05.01.2022 The last of our gold BMX bikes is sold and doesn't it look great! Sorry this colour is now sold out but we still have just a total of 5 left in red, blue, green or purple. The last of these limited edition frames are about to be assembled and ready to go out the door.

05.01.2022 I had a couple of spare minutes so thought I'd take a quick look at the job ahead with that Super Elliot frame posted below. Lots of rust inside the tubing, so not surprising that it cracked. As was the custom and necessity back then, the frame is also pinned at the joints as well as brazed. In early days, the bronze welding rod did not have the strength of modern materials and the frames were heated and brazed in a forge. The frames were taper pinned together in an accurate jig, then removed and each joint placed in the forge for brazing, so the pins had a twofold use, adding strength as well as accuracy to the frame assembly.

03.01.2022 A little sympathetic restoration on this old Comet bike from early - mid 1900s. Unfortunately the bike has been painted black at some time but the owner has painstakingly removed a lot of this to expose the original colour and name. Very interesting chainwheel design too. It's now rideable and a bit more of Adelaide's cycling heritage is saved.

03.01.2022 I'm pretty happy with our Gitane restoration. (the owner is too! ) It certainly looks a bit better than when it was bought in a couple of weeks ago.

02.01.2022 Our next restoration is underway with this 1970s Gitane. Not totally original components but most are era correct. Watch how this comes together in the next few days
