24.01.2022 If they cancel the rest of the school year, students would miss approx 6 months of education. Many people are concerned about students falling behind because o...f this. Yes, they may fall behind when it comes to classroom education... BUT WHAT IF .... What if instead of falling behind", this group of kids are ADVANCED because of this? Hear me out. What if they have more empathy, they enjoy family connection, they can be more creative and entertain themselves, they love to read, they love to express themselves in writing. What if they enjoy the simple things, like their own backyard and sitting near a window in the quiet. What if they notice the birds and the dates the different flowers emerge, and the calming renewal of a gentle rain shower? What if this generation are the ones to learn to cook, organize their space, do their laundry, and keep a well run home? What if they learn to stretch a dollar and to live with less? What if they learn to plan shopping trips and meals at home. What if they learn the value of eating together as a family and finding the good to share in the small delights of the everyday? What if they are the ones to place great value on our teachers and educational professionals, librarians, public servants and the previously invisible essential support workers like truck drivers, grocers, cashiers, custodians, logistics, and health care workers and their supporting staff, just to name a few of the millions taking care of us right now while we are sheltered in place? What if among these children, a great leader emerges who had the benefit of a slower pace and a simpler life to truly learn what really matters in this life? What if they are AHEAD? Via Megan Wood

24.01.2022 Children are dealing with a world that is far different than anything they’ve ever known. Add to that, the fact that their rocks parents, teachers, grandpare...nts are all worried, stressed and just different. Everything is upside down for them. You can help by trying to bring some calm into their day. Add a bit more cuddles and relaxed playtime. Do some fun things. Maybe make a big tent in the house, have a sleepover in the family room, game night, make cookies, look at the stars. Take a breath Mom and Dad. Try to build some happy family memories into this very odd time. Via: The Gentle Mamma Source: Elizabeth Pantley

16.01.2022 VCAL is a senior secondary pathway that delivers some fantastic outcomes for young people! During 2019/20 the LLEN undertook a Research project to Make the Ca...se for VCAL because this pathway is under-utilised. Well I’m pleased to report that the project is now complete and has been accepted by our top class steering committee! Next step is to have input into the current Review of senior secondary pathways in Victoria and then to work with our schools and other providers to strengthen and enhance VCAL in the region. Our researchers were Dr Jude Walker and Dr John Henry. Got questions? Just ask!

06.01.2022 'For our first year (of the current City of Wyndham Learning Community Strategy), we ranked moderately in our three focus areas for 2019. Our focus on celebrati...ng living and learning in Wyndham was highest due to the large partner contribution in our learning festival. These first Collective Impact Assessment Tool - CIAT results support us to see a clear baseline and help drive our planning... It also gives us potential to improve over time.' Congratulations Diane Tabbagh and Jan Torres-Gomez and the Libraries in Wyndham team on your insightful and courageous assessment of the collective impact of your current Learning Community Strategy using the Collective Impact Assessment Tool - CIAT - and on your local and international #learningcommunity leadership. Watch the 2 minute video (link in the article below) for a snapshot of this inspiring work. #collectiveimpact #globalleadership #partnershipsinaction #evidencebasedpractice
