21.01.2022 Day 6 of the Queensland Border restrictions are now in place at the Sunshine Coast Airport. Today Kawana and Nambour State Emergency Service joined forces with QPS and Queensland Health today to help with the processing of people through arrivals at Sunshine Coast Airport in compliance with state border restrictions. 1x aircraft with 183 passengers landed today with SES members filtering passengers through the process and checking border declaration forms and I.D. before bein...g processed by QPS and Queensland Health officials. 2x possible quarantine passengers were detained for further investigations. Victoria still under fire with 30 of the new infections were connected to contained outbreaks and 186 were under investigation. There are now at least 1,249 active cases in Victoria. About 5 million Victorians in metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire are under strict stay-at-home orders after weeks of worrying transmission of the deadly virus. Let’s keep Queensland safe and continue the hard efforts, government and officials have done to keep you and I safe. Social Distancing is the Key factor here.
20.01.2022 Last night, Kawana State Energency Service visited the Nambour & Districts State Emergency Service and participated in a joint training session for some forensic landsearch. Thank you for having us Nambour. We really appreciate it. Next week we will be meeting again to participate in an exercise away from the shed to deal with real life situations in the elements.
19.01.2022 New announcement about border controls for New South Wales and breaking news for a few Western suburbs in Sydney New South Wales. Remember your socical distancing and keep up with update through the www.health.qld.gov.au www.covid19.qld.gov.au **************************************^**... Deputy Premier and Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services The Honourable Steven Miles Tuesday, July 14, 2020 New South Wales hotspots declared after outbreaks From midday today, two Local Government Areas in New South Wales will be declared COVID-19 hotspots, following multiple cases stemming from the Crossroads Hotel at Casula. Deputy Premier and Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Steven Miles said the local government areas (LGAs) of Liverpool and Campbelltown would be listed as hotspots, following a public health alert issued by Queensland Health on Sunday urging those who visited the hotel to get tested. This outbreak is incredibly concerning, and we are taking it very seriously, Mr Miles said. Any Queenslanders who have been to the Crossroads Hotel from July 3 to July 10 inclusive should get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible and then immediately self-isolate. The hotel is a busy stopover for many travellers, so it is very likely that there are a number of Queenslanders who have been there during this period. Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said the purpose of hotspots were to assist in containing the spread of COVID-19 within the community. Until today, all current COVID-19 hotspots were located in Victoria. Currently the whole State of Victoria remains a hotspot, Dr Young said. We are watching this situation very closely, and we remind people to remain alert but not alarmed. It is important to remember that we are all in this together. The onus remains on our community to remember that the pandemic is far from over. We need to rapidly respond to outbreaks like this by testing and self-isolating. Queensland’s border restrictions mean people who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot within the last 14 days will no longer be able to quarantine in Queensland and will be turned away at our border. This applies to everyone who has been in a COVID-19 hotspot in the past 14 days, except people needed in Queensland for essential purposes. Queensland residents who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot can return home but will be required to quarantine in government provided accommodation at their expense. There are testing facilities right across the state including GPs, fever clinics and pop up clinics. To find your nearest location, visit the Queensland Health website. ENDS

17.01.2022 NAIDOC Week starts this Sunday 8 November. This year’s theme Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this country for more than 65 000 years. This coming week is an opportunity for all of us to come together to celebrate the rich history, diverse cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is also an opportunity for us to have meaningful conversations within our teams and reflect on what this theme means to you personally, and to QFES. Kawana State Emergency Service respects the past and looks forward to our future.

17.01.2022 Well our first Tuesday night training was held last night for the first time in a number of years and our first official training night since COVID-19 started. With the week fastly approaching for our Working Safely at heights course for 3 of our members, this was the perfect time to brush up on the skills that are required for this particular course. We were very fortunate to have Col from Maroochydore State Emergency Service (trainer) that went through the basic skills and requirements for the weekend. Thank you so much. If this kind of thing interests you or you want to help our experienced volunteers with other activities, come along to one of our training nights each Tuesday at 7pm. We would love to see you there.
16.01.2022 We are doing a great job Queensland, so let’s keep doing what is expected of us and treat each day as the first, one step at a time.
14.01.2022 Remembrance Day falls on the 11th of November each year. On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minutes’ silence is observed and dedicated to those soldiers who died fighting to protect the nation. 11 November is universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the First World War. This conflict had mobilised over 70 million people and left between nine and 13 million dead and as many as one third of these with no grave. The allied nations... chose this day and time for the commemoration of their war dead. At 11 am on 11 November 1918, the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The allied armies had driven the German invaders back, having inflicted heavy defeats upon them over the preceding four months.
12.01.2022 Today, Kawana State Emergency Service supports the importance of asking our colleagues, friends, and family... R U OK? Well... Are You? https://youtu.be/fFBqddRMflM
11.01.2022 So Kawana State Emergency Service joined multiple groups from our region, participating in the GWN Radio training at Head Office tonight. This will be a game-changer for the SES with clearer communications for our members in regards to operational purposes and of course training. This is going to be amazing.
06.01.2022 What an awesome day going through with the new ATV course which was delivered by Queensland Fire and Rescue and Regional. Kawana State Emergency Service is now ready to participate in operating the ATV with call-outs to land-searches (which has been used in some major incidents already) and has widen our capabilities to respond and to help our community in times of need. We had a good turnout of members from multiple groups on the Sunshine Coast participating in the course today. A job well done!
06.01.2022 It’s so important to keep our skills up especially when it comes down to the lives we work with and the public. Kawana SES was happy to support our unit to keep our groups current. Keeping up to date with our First Aid and CPR is a key skill, something we hope that we don’t ever have to use.
05.01.2022 Another day at the Caloundra Fever Clinic for Covid-19 testing. Both Kawana and Glasshouse State Emergency Service join together with the help of a few members from Fire & Rescue to help out our local community with the on-going fight from this terrible pandemic. Remember, if you have any symptoms... Don’t risk your health or anyone else’s. Get tested!
04.01.2022 Kawana and Caloundra State Emergency Service were called again to help with the increasing support with Covid-19 here on the Sunshine Coast. As most of you are aware, the increase of cases in Queensland has prompted us to support QPS, Qld Health and the Sunshine Coast Council with more mobile testing units for Covid-19 so we were requested to attend the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service at Caloundra. Traffic control and marshalling was a high priority to get people in quick and fast with over 1000 people getting tested. You can imagine the traffic in such a small area. A long day but an amazing job from the team that worked hard to keep the busy times rolling! Stay Safe Queensland!
03.01.2022 Sunday afternoon, Kawana State Emergency Service had the privilege to visit and meet up with some amazing members from the Australian Air League at Kawana. It gave us a chance to show off our Flood Boat and Storm Damage trailer and go through the equipment we carry to respond to varies jobs. They are currently doing their Emergency Services badge and we were only too happy to have a chat to them and answer any questions they may have about the SES. We look forward to catching up with you all again very soon at our shed! (Permission was given by the parents to be in the photos for social media purposes).
03.01.2022 Last night, Kawana State Emergency Service joined in with Nambour and District State Emergency Service on a well organised training night for a land search exercise. Had a good turn out with nearly 30 members participating in different rolls last night. Also, a long time member of Kawana that has really been putting in the hard yards was promoted to Senior Field Operator. Congratulations Michael! Kawana SES continues to excel leaps and bounds and is making a difference in our local community. Well done all.
01.01.2022 It is here where we start the close relationship between Queensland State Emergency Service and Suncorp. We are proud that you have our backs when we are called! Thank you!
