The State Swim Challenge is a great way for kids in Dolphin, Kingfish, and Superfish to test themselves. Successful swimmers will receive a time card and a medalwhich will be presented on the State Swim Dais with a photographer present to capture the exciting achievement! 17.01.2022 Our team wanted to share how we’re operating under the current restrictions. We’re so thankful to be open... so that we can teach your kids how to swim! Being open also means that we need to adhere to the current restrictions.... We’re allowed 1 person per 4sq metres - which means we need to limit the number of people around the pool. We’re encouraging you to drop off your older kids. Of course, you can still bring them in! For younger kids, there can only be 1 caregiver per child around the pool. 17.01.2022 The news you've been waiting for...! We're OPENING tomorrow! (Tuesday 1st December) We're looking forward to welcoming you back following our two-week closure.... There are a few extra precautions we need to take: Our wonderful COVID Marshal will be at the desk in the entry foyer. You'll be signed in manually until the QR Code check-in system is up and running. Edit: To meet the current restrictions, we need to limit the number of people on-site. We’re encouraging kiss and drop primarily for older students. This is definitely not mandatory. One caregiver is still able to come into the centre. All caregivers must adhere to social distancing and staff direction. The following safety precautions are still in place: 1.5 metre social distancing rules Use hand sanitizer on entry Keeping our own records of people on site. We’ll be watching the guidance from the government closely, to know when it's safe to return and continue lessons. Until then, direct debits are on hold. Any fees paid in advance will be credited against your account for when we can re-open. Keira has been in our teams since the beginning of 2020 - she's a great asset to our team!... Keira has shared that she enjoys interacting with the other swimmers. Well done, Keira! 06.01.2022 We’re celebrating Adam this week! Adam has been at State Swim Seaford for over 6 years! He’s a supervisor, instructor, coach and also helps with maintenance! "I really enjoy encouraging kids, adults, or anybody I work with to reach their goals or push their boundaries to a higher level. This requires a lot of motivation, determination, and willpower. Everyone has different challenges - including myself.... I was born profoundly deaf so i do not hear anything at all when I’m in the water. It’s completely silent. I lipread everyone in the pool and parents on the pool deck. I started swimming when I was 4 years old due to my hearing loss. It was part of my therapy....then over time swimming became my passion. Water is in my veins :). Water is great for frustration, health, fitness, therapy, relaxation, and sport. I’m a full-time Dad with 2 beautiful sons (Ky is 15 & Zane is 13). I really enjoy my job as it works around my family - which gives me a bit of balance. Today I want to pass on my experiences and my knowledge of swimming and therapy. Did you know Adam’s had 10 surgeries on his right shoulder due to a bodysurfing accident which stopped his swimming path? You will find he always works with his left arm. In Adam’s dictionary, the word ‘can’t’ doesn't exist! He believes anything is possible if you put your mind to it and keep trying. "

04.01.2022 Today we're celebrating our wonderful CSO and Instructor, Wendy! Wendy has been at State Swim Seaford for over 10 years! "I love teaching Seahorse. I have really enjoyed seeing 'my kids' grow in confidence. ... I have had kids over the years, bite me, kick me, hit me, and even vomit on me. I've even caught vomit in my rashie! BUT, I have won over each child- even to a point that a mum was listening to her son and daughter play (I taught both) and they were playing, State Swim, and arguing who was going to be Wendy! So cute!" "I have also had many kids, cry and scream for weeks. Their parents have persevered, which is great, as many are still swimming with us and are now in the higher classes - even Squads, which is great to see." "I also work on the desk. It is great seeing the kids come in, as I have actually seen them grow up, and have got to know, not only the kids I teach but many other families, which is lovely." Here is Wendy's story : "My parents moved here from the UK to Adelaide. I was born here and grew up in Henley Beach. I went to Henley High and my first job was as a receptionist. I met my husband through work. He employed me but I actually asked him out! Haha! I have been married to Bill for 31 years. We have a daughter Ashlee (28) and a son Jackson (25) - he lives in the UK now. I miss him heaps." "I also have two step daughter, Alison & Sally. I am very blessed to have 5 amazing grandchildren, Sasha, Dylan, Lexie, Marlee, and Lacey (ranging in ages from 12 down to 9 months old). Family is everything to me." Did you know Wendy is fascinated with forensics. If she had her time again, she would look into that as a career!! Wendy, we're so thankful you're part of our State Swim Seaford family.
