18.03.2022 State Guard Protective Services would like to congratulate a couple of our security officers, Trevor and Roger, on receiving Commendation Awards. Earlier this year, StateGuard Protective Services, Site Supervisor and security officer responded to an emergency in which the cabin within a luxury vessel caught fire. Our Security staff attended the scene immediately and were able to control the fire with extinguishers until Fire Rescue Victoria arrived on scene. Their quick respo...nse, bravery and team work resulted in no one being injured/hurt, minimised damage to the vessel and no other vessels being damaged by the fire. Residents and owners who witnessed the security officers efforts expressed their appreciation by giving them a round of applause. Our Security Staff working in Western Health facilities may be involved in managing patients or other individuals who may exhibit disturbed and / or aggressive behaviour. There is an international shift towards the reduction and, where possible, elimination of the use of restraint in health facilities. A safer approach to managing the care of patients who exhibit disturbed and / or aggressive behaviour is one that focuses on prevention strategies especially communication, engagement, situational awareness and appropriate case management. 07.01.2022 StateGuard Donates to Western Health Foundation Dear Ben, Thank you so much for your kind donation to The Greatest Need. With your donation we can support the immediate needs of our most vulnerable patients, while also assisting our researchers to tackle some of the biggest issues impacting the health and wellbeing of our community. Health issues like Type 2 diabetes, which affects 35 percent of all inpatients at Western Health, plus kidney disease, heart disease and cancer.... You may remember reading the story of Debbie* who was faced with the prospect of being homeless, after her diagnosis with terminal cancer meant she could no longer work. Through The Greatest Need we were able to assist her with a months rent so that she could secure a place in transitional housing. When Debbie was asked what support from The Greatest Need meant to her, she responded by saying, I cant describe how I felt when I received the call telling me that Western Health would be able to help me out with my rent and with food vouchers, says Debbie. I was so touched by the kindness. I just thought I am saved. I am not going to be homeless. Its these small acts of kindness - thanks to the generosity of donors like you - that make a big difference in the lives of our most vulnerable patients.
