25.01.2022 WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE HEARING FROM OUR TRAVELERS! Here is some great advice and first hand experiences from one of our travelers, Sean. Our Travel Expert Aki helped create his trip of a lifetime! : -Hey Everyone, ... In March this year I did my first overseas solo trip to New York, NY, and a little side trip to Washington DC.I spent two weeks in NYC on this trip, and I wish I had more. Some of the things I highly recommend are: 1. Statue of Liberty. I recommend booking in advance and selecting the crown tickets if your not afraid of heights. If going to the crown doesn’t interest you, the next best thing is to go to the pedestal lookout. 2. 9/11 Museum. This is a must. So unbelievable being there, and the feeling walking around the museum is something like no other. If your doing your trip on a budget, I do recommend going to the 9/11 site on Tuesday afternoon as it’s free entry from 5pm if I remember correctly (though get there about an hour early as it gets packed). 3. Brooklyn Bridge. Iconic I know...but for a different experience I recommend going to the bridge at sunrise (and stand on the Brooklyn side facing Manhattan). Seeing the city from that angle, in that Glow, is breathtaking. Whilst your on that side check out DUMBO (Washington street, Brooklyn for iconic pictures). 4.Central Park. So much to see, I recommend hiring a bike and taking your time. 5. Top of the Rock. I suggest getting there late afternoon (before dusk). Reason being, you get to see the city skyline during the day, the transition to night, and the city filled with lights at night. This was an incredible trip, that I can’t possibly put into 1 post. If you’ve ever been scared to visit NYC, or scared of travelling alone...don’t be. Don’t be afraid to ask questions for your trip, don’t be afraid to ask locals for directions or advice and lastly don’t be afraid to have fun and explore. I’ve attached some photos to share my journey with you all, hope you enjoy. Happy travelling, - Sean See more

24.01.2022 FUN FACT FRIDAY! Have you heard about the Darvaza gas crater in Turkmenistan? Also known as the Gates of Hell this natural gas field collapsed into an underground cavern. Geologists intentionally set it on fire to prevent the spread of methane gas, but ooooopsy they didn't think it would still be continuously burning almost 50 years later! ... Here is an awesome pic of our friends at Dragoman overland truck tours, where will your next adventure be?

23.01.2022 Our TE Georgia has just returned from an amazing trip to Egypt! We caught up with her to go through some of her experiences and best photos from her trip! STA Travel: Can you give us a quick rundown of what you did on your trip?... Georgia: I did a G Adventures tour which went to the best parts of Egypt. We saw the Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum, and took an overnight sleeper train to Aswan where we saw the spice markets and then saw the Abu Simbel temples. We took a felucca ride down the Nile River; this was a super fun day being out in the sun having a few beers and then we pulled over on the river and slept on the felucca over night. From there we then drove to Luxor where we saw the amazing Krakow Temple. The next day we went to the Valley of Kings to see all the tombs which were mind blowing. After that we flew back to Cairo were we ended the tour. STA Travel: What was something unexpected that you experienced on your trip? Georgia: I didn't expect to be as in awe of the pyramids as I was. I could have looked at the pyramids for hours and it was really cool to go inside them. Also, the Nile River was absolutely freezing when we jumped in! STA Travel: If you could re-do your trip, is there anything you would change? Georgia: I think I would try go to Dahab and Alexandria. I really wish I went to the coastal towns and spent a bit more time over there. STA Travel: What was the best part about having a stopover in Dubai on your way to Egypt? Georgia: The value of adding in another country on my way to Egypt for next to nothing was an awesome way to use my airfare. It was good to break up my trip and see the Burj Khalifa in all its glory; the light show was amazing. Also, I really liked the aquarium; I could have sat there all day watching the fish and stingrays. STA Travel: Absolute favourite memory from the trip? Georgia: Going on the felucca and also having dinner with a local family in Luxor (another awesome aspect of doing a G Adventures tour). I don't think I will come across a better eggplant salad.. and usually I don't like eggplant

22.01.2022 We LOVE hearing from our clients when they return home from the trips we have booked for them. The planning is often months of hard work and research to make sure the whole experience is unforgettable! After almost 9 months of planning, a few of Tayla's customers returned home from their epic USA trip with a few lovely words about their booking experience, and their amazing holiday!... "Thank you so much for all of your help in the lead up to our trip to the USA! Can't believe it's done and dusted now... We returned this week and had an absolute blast over there! We have so many highlights - the whole trip really! But we definitely had an absolute ball in Vegas & Nashville was awesome; the nightlife there was so cool! We were saying that in the day its quite quiet and then at night time it's a totally different vibe. We grabbed dinner at one of the local restaurants and the manager found out we were from Australia so we definitely got a taste of Southern hospitality when he organised a whole heap of entrees and desert to be delivered to our table with a card signed by all of the staff members! We loved NYC (we saw Chicago on Broadway and definitely recommend) and Miami too! We had 8 degree weather in NYC for the most part so it was nice to jump into some warm weather in Miami. We explored New Orleans and Bourbon Street was awesome - we found it really handy to stay along the street because it was super accessible to everything. Again thanks very much for all of your help to book everything, suggestions and answering all of our emails and questions, we're very appreciative!" WE LOVE YOUR FEEDBACK! If you've booked through any of the awesome Travel Experts at the Robina branch, please send us your highlights and favourite photos to [email protected]

11.01.2022 Store Manager Troy jetted off in March to Japan and China for 3 weeks so we caught up with him to hear about the highlights of the trip and hear his recommendations! STA Travel: So you started your trip in Japan, what did you do while you were there?... Troy: I spent a week snowboarding with OzSnow in Hakuba and Madarao. We got to see the snow monkeys and Zenkoji Temple. I then spent 10 days on a One Life tour that went from Tokyo through to Kyoto and Osaka. STA Travel: What was your absolute favourite part of your trip to Japan? Troy: Ooo that's a tough question. If I had to pick just one, I would have to say it was the first day on the mountains in Madarao; it started snowing so hard and it was the first time I had ever seen it snow. STA Travel: Do you have any recommendations for potential travellers to Japan? Troy: For me, being part of a tour group really helped me appreciate the culture and enjoy my time in Japan as I wasn't stressing about transport or the language barrier. It was an awesome way to meet other like-minded travellers as well and trade travel stories. If you want to hit multiple places, make sure you give yourself enough time in each place; especially Tokyo where there is so much to see. STA Travel: What made you decide on a stop-over in China? Troy: The Great Wall has always been on my bucket list, but there wasn't too much else that I really wanted to see in China so it was good to incorporate a quick stop to see the Great Wall. I always like to try and fit in a stopover no matter where I'm travelling to; it adds so much value to your trip. STA Travel: What was the highlight of your time in China? Troy: The Great Wall of China, definitely. Standing there on the path was one of those moments that just overwhelms you and you realise you are visiting such a monumental and iconic part of the world. It was amazing. STA Travel: Where's next for you Troy? Troy: I've actually got a round the world trip booked for June; I'm heading to the USA, UK, Italy, Holland, Egypt and Singapore. I can't wait!

"We swam in Lake McKenzie which is a freshwater lake so you can swim underwater with your eyes open and it is so clear! We saw so much wildlife and got to float down Eli Creek as well. Maheno Shipwreck was super cool as well to have a look at. The Cool Dingo bus was awesome too, driving up the beach highway and through the bush was really fun. I'd 100% go back again!
