25.01.2022 As a followup to the sport that Years K-2 have been doing this term, Sydney Sixers' 'young gun' Jack Edwards spoke to Year 2 via a Zoom meeting this week. Jack spoke of his passion for cricket but encouraged the boys and girls to enjoy as many sports as they can, not just one. Jack stressed that it was important to have fun and enjoy yourself. Jack answered a number of question from the students and thanked them for being such a good group to talk to.

24.01.2022 SAVE THE DATE: BOOK WEEK PARADE WED 21 OCT To celebrate Book Week all students are invited to dress up as their favourite book character on Wednesday 21st October (Week 2, Term 4). This is traditionally a K-2 event, however we invite all students from K-6 to dress up and parade should they wish. Please don’t spend a lot of money, be creative and make something to go with clothes you already have or get crafty with cardboard & paint... maybe a great holiday project? See attached letter for more details.

24.01.2022 Today Year 5 recreated a Gold Rush Town as the culmination of their research on the Australian Gold Rush and the Eureka Stockade. Students designed and created interactive displays covering every aspect of life during the Gold Rush from panning for 'real gold' to damper tastings and even doing the weekly wash! Congratulations Year 5 on an amazing display clearly based on a wealth of knowledge - well done!

23.01.2022 FUTURE RECORDING ARTISTS? Many of our cast have stepped up to record the vocals for the musical that we can ‘no longer sing as a group’ thanks to COVID restrictions. Over the last 2 weeks students have been busy recording both solo and chorus parts INDIVIDUALLY, with our amazing Mr Kerr layering each track together to build the songs. When our students perform the show, the dialogue will be ‘live’, but the songs will be lip-synced in order to comply with COVID restrictions. We are so proud of all our students for the time they have invested this year in learning and preparing the songs, and even more so for their tenacity and determination in taking on the challenge to record their parts as solos... recording a track on your own is a very different experience to singing in a small group or as part of a chorus.

21.01.2022 MINI VINNIES MINI BREKKIE Feeling peckish after an early start? A tad rushed in the morning? Mini Vinnies and the Student Representative Council have combined forces to run a trial of a breakfast program here at school during Term 4. On offer will be yoghurt cups (with or without granola), fruit and muffins. The Mini Brekkie will be open each morning from 8:30am-8:45am outside the canteen and is open to all students and staff. Prices for each of the items are expected to be between $1.00 - $1.50 however, these will be confirmed and advertised in Week 1 of Term 4. Mrs Loader and Mrs Symonds ran a canteen induction yesterday for MV & SRC Year 6 students.

12.01.2022 YEAR 5 EXURO RETREAT Today all of Year 5 were involved in Exuro (Latin for on fire), a student discipleship formation program designed to strengthen the Catholic lives of the students and keep the fire and passion of Proclaim Lismore Students alive. This Retreat was a one day opportunity to bring students together, to share and build relationships that strengthen the practice of their Christian faith, and to be leaders in building strong Catholic school communities.... The following quote from St Teresa of Avila guided our discussions and challenges the students on how to live as disciples of Christ: "Christ has no body now, but yours. No hands, no feet on earth, but yours. Yours are the eyes through which Christ looks compassion into the world.Yours are the feet with which Christ walks to do good. Yours are the hands with which Christ blesses the world."

12.01.2022 In Term 3 the Stage 2 High Potential Learners (HPL) have been learning how to create designs for the 3D Printer using TinkerCAD. After initially creating bag tags to master the software, the group has focused on designing and building rubber band powered cars that can travel the furthest distance (and do it with style).

06.01.2022 Today St Augustine's took part in 'Lismore Meditates' to mark R U OK Day. #Lismmeditates is an initiative for schools across the diocese to pause and reflect on those suffering from mental health issues and especially during this time of the pandemic. In a primary school setting we talked about our feelings and how we should talk to a trusted adult if we don't feel OK. Our Christian Meditation gave us an opportunity to be silent and calm, and to be present with God.
