18.01.2022 The backfilling of Davis Pit is really starting to take shape! Inert (non-polluting) waste rock from the underground mine is hauled to the surface and placed into the Davis Pit before the team at SHS Civil get to work shaping it to match the surrounding slopes of Big Hill. This is undertaken as part of Stawell Gold Mines’ long term commitment to rehabilitating the pit and have it match in with the surrounding area. It’s amazing to think that this was once more than 80 meters deep!
