22.01.2022 It's not about being good at something, it's about being good to yourself. At Stay Balanced, all of our classes are designed to help you feel good in and about your body. We keep our classes small so our instructors can get to know you, as well as keep an eye on you so they can offer modifications when an exercise is not the right "fit" for your body or give you that extra bit of motivation to take things up a notch depending on what is n...eeded at the time. All ages, levels of fitness/experience welcome - even complete beginners! We also have affordable pricing options to help you make Pilates (or Yoga) one of your regular healthy habits. Visit our website for more information - link in bio. #StayBalancedPilatesandYoga #yogaandpilatesstudio #matpilates #yoga #meditation #healthybodyhealthymind #mindfulmovement #balancebodymindspirit #bodyawareness #healthandfitness #MurrayBridge #SouthAustralia See more

22.01.2022 I want to let you in on a secret.....Or maybe it is not such a secret any more, but just in case you hadn't heard this before, here it is: You don't need to be flexible to do yoga! That's right, this is not a typo or some weird autocorrect misunderstanding - you DO NOT need to be flexible to do yoga. You also don't need to be fit - or a certain age, size, body type/shape, or any other thing you think you need to be to practice "proper" yoga.... For one thing I don't think that there is even such a thing as "proper" yoga - from what I can tell there are so many different styles of yoga - and variations of those styles around today, that no-one can really lay claim to any particular style being the ONLY way to practice yoga. Of course we have the classical or traditional yoga poses and we do need to consider our alignment or position while holding a pose, but that is going to look and feel different for every single person, because guess what? We are all individuals, and our size, shape, age, fitness levels and state of health will determine what is the best way to practice for us. At Stay Balanced we encourage you to try out different variations of a pose if a particular one does not work for you. We even encourage you to take a resting pose, if your energy is a little low and you need to a time out before joining in again. Yoga is not about forcing or pushing yourself, it is about union - union between your body, your mind and your breath - and yes even your spirit. It's about learning to know your body and to know how to move it in ways that make it feel good, it's about learning to slow down and become more mindful of what you are thinking and how you are feeling, and doing what is best for you and your body. So being flexible(or any other thing you thought you had to be) is not at all necessary to do yoga! #StayBalancedPilatesandYoga #yoga #MurrayBridge See more

20.01.2022 Enjoying a freshly pressed Detox Juice from the new coffee, smoothie and juice bar at the freshly renovated @farmfreshmb. Just what I needed on 40+ degree day Thanks Tracey, I think this new offering at the store is going to be VERY popular!

19.01.2022 This morning I woke up feeling a bit flat, so to try and lift my mood, I decided to make my yoga practice a little more playful that day - experimenting with balances and more challenging flows than I would normally do. While the physical practice flowed effortlessly, unfortunately it didn't shift my mood the way I hoped it would. But you know what? I was completely ok with that. While most of the time yoga can and does help me feel bett...er, sometimes it doesn't. Does that mean that yoga doesn't really "work" or that there is something wrong with the way I practice, or even worse, something wrong with me? (The answer to all of these questions is a big fat "NO" by the way) While yoga can and does help change the way you think and feel, it is not a miracle cure, and every time you get on the mat your experience will be different and learning to accept where we are in each and every moment is one of the many things that a regular yoga practice can teach us. 17.01.2022 If you prefer doing your workout earlier in the day, why not book yourself in with Ursula tomorrow at 9am? Suitable for all ages, fitness levels and levels if experience. If you've never tried our classes before, take advantage of our 2 for 1 offer for all new clients!

17.01.2022 As the weather warms up, there is no excuse not to get outside and get some sun (and vitamin D) Vitamin D is most well known for helping build strong healthy bones and teeth, but did you also know that it helps balance our moods and support our immune system? While we can take a supplement, sometimes these are poorly absorbed by the body, so the best way to get you vitamin D is to get some (safe) sun exposure for 20 minutes every day on ...about 30% of your body (without sunscreen), so try to avoid the hottest part of the day in Summer if you can. You can even multi-task and go for a walk while you are soaking up the rays! See more

14.01.2022 Ok, so now the power is out thanks to a mid morning thunderstorm which means no internet either and both phones and laptops almost flat. Latest update said power is scheduled to be back on late tonight Thankfully I had already rescheduled all of the studio classes and reactivated everyone's memberships so you can go ahead and book your classes for this week (and beyond if you like to be super organized )... Luckily I still write up my class plans the old fashioned way, with pen and paper! (Guess what I'll be doing for the next few hours?) Enjoy your Sunday everyone and hopefully our power is restored soon!

14.01.2022 An interesting article about how exercise improves the health of your brain as well as your body

13.01.2022 While Mat Pilates will give you a great all over body workout all on its own, sometimes it can be fun to add in some small equipment to add a bit of variety and more of a challenge. Pictured here is the Magic Circle - often met with mixed reactions in a lot of our classes - and the Small Pilates Ball (also sometimes known as a Chi Ball. Have you used either one of these before during a Pilates class? ... If you have, which was your favourite? And what exercises did you use either of them with? For our regulars, which one do you think Ali will use in class tonight? Let us know in the comments below. See more

12.01.2022 Hands up if you have remembered to book your classes for the coming week!

10.01.2022 Just in case you needed reminding

09.01.2022 Eagle Pose....a balancing pose that can be a little bit challenging - especially if you are blessed with shorter limbs, like I am! It is one of those poses that can feel really hard some days, and effortless on others as well as any where in between - just like most balancing poses. It's important to include them on a regular basis - not just to help us get better at balancing, but also to strengthen the muscles and joints in our legs, and improve our abili...ty to concentrate and focus on the task at hand. You might have noticed that the days you seem to "suck" at balancing poses are usually the days when you have a million other things on your mind and are feeling a bit scattered or all over the place - or at least if you didn't before you will now! Eagle pose in particular helps stretch our upper back and shoulders, as well as our hips and legs. It can be tricky to get into at first and it's a good idea to use a wall to help you find your balance and move further and further away as you feel more confident and stable You can even try breaking it down and just do the bottom half of the pose and then add the top part or vice versa. Start standing with your feet hip width apart shift your weight to your left foot and bend your knees slightly. Cross your right leg over your left, and if possible wrap your foot around the leg too. Bring your arms in front of you at shoulder height with the palms up and cross your left arm over your right as you bend the elbows, bringing your palms towards your face. Rotate the forearms to try to get the palms to touch and hold this position for 3-5 breaths to start with. Repeat on the other side. As with all poses, adjust as needed to suit your body and make sure that if you can't find a variation to suit you, maybe try something different that offers similar benefits. See more

09.01.2022 It may be empty in this photo, but after a class you will usually see clients sitting here enjoying a friendly chat or a laugh and a cup of herbal tea after class (practicing appropriate social distancing of course!) This makes me so happy to see our clients feeling relaxed and comfortable enough to get to know each other better outside of class, as well as provide encouragement and support during class - some classes a little more boisterously than others ...(you know who you are!) We encourage this positive & encouraging environment at Stay Balanced because if you are having fun and feeling supported at something no matter how experienced you are, it gives you the motivation to keep going when it feels hard, or you are not feeling your best. We have had clients come to class feeling a bit flat and walk out telling us that they are so glad they came! And not just because of the work they did on the mat. This is one of the many reasons that we love what we do, and will keep doing it for as long as our clients keep coming to the studio. See more

09.01.2022 Creating (and maintaining) balance is an ongoing process and your ability to find balance can change from day to day, moment to moment. While it can be challenging sometimes (and a little frustrating), the trick is not to take it too seriously. Whether it's mastering a physical balance (like Ursula here in this photo) or balancing your schedule or work/life/family commitments, all you can do is give it your best shot and learn to be okay ...with it, if you don't quite get it "right" all of the time. If you would like help with improving your physical balance (along with your strength and flexibility), why not come along and try out our Mat Pilates and Yoga classes? We also have Cardio style Pilates for those of you that like to get your heart rate up and get a little bit sweaty! For a full list of our classes and pricing options, click on the link in our bio to check out our website. #StayBalancedPilatesandYoga #yogaandpilatesstudio #matpilates #yoga #meditation #healthybodyhealthymind #mindfulmovement #balancebodymindspirit #bodyawareness #healthandfitness #MurrayBridge #SouthAustralia See more

07.01.2022 Have I mentioned that Christmas is just around the corner? Only three and a half weeks to be exact! Strengthen up your Christmas shopping muscles tonight with us as we focus on building strength in our arms, shoulders, backs and glutes.

07.01.2022 Most of us have heard of a "Gratitude Jar", where you take time each day to write down something that you are grateful for on a little card or piece of paper and then put it in a beautifully decorated jar. The idea is to take out one (or more) of those notes to read to yourself when you are having a bad day or feeling down to help shift your focus onto what you are grateful for and what is good in your life. This is a wonderful thing to do and can... really help lift your spirits. Why not take this one step further and use it as a tool to help us feel good about ourselves? Sadly, It can be so easy for us to focus on what we don't like about ourselves or what we want to change, but not always so easy to focus on what we like/love about ourselves. Using the principle of the Gratitude Jar, why not also have a Self-Love Jar, and fill it with things that we like or love about ourselves or things we do well? In this culture, loving yourself is sometimes seen as a "bad" thing, assuming that if someone "loves themselves" it meant they are stuck up or conceited, but truly loving yourself is not that at all. It's about feeling confident with who you are (just as you are) and feeling good in your own skin. It's about wanting to make choices that support your physical and mental health, such as getting regular exercise, eating well and taking time to rest and relax when you need to without feeling guilty. It's about being kind to other people because when you feel good about yourself you are more likely to want to help other people feel good about themselves too! So as far as I'm concerned, loving yourself is never a "bad" thing. See more

02.01.2022 Gift cards now available! A big thanks to Ryan and the team @printcityau for getting them done so quickly (and in plenty of time before Christmas )

01.01.2022 Bring a little more balance into your day and join us tonight for Beginner Mat Pilates at 5.30pm or Vinyasa Flow Meets Yin Yoga at 6.30pm...... or why not do both? A lot of our members say that sticking around for yoga after their Pilates class is a great way to unwind and get an extra bit of stretching in, helping ease that post class muscle soreness we know and love. #StayBalancedPilatesandYoga #yogaandpilatesstudio #matpilates #yoga #meditation #healthybodyhealthymind #mindfulmovement #balancebodymindspirit #bodyawareness #healthandfitness #MurrayBridge #SouthAustralia
