25.01.2022 You never know what you may see at the Freo Markets!

25.01.2022 New Stayfreo Cottage update. A step closer to the first concrete pour! A few more days and we are able to start installing plumbing.

25.01.2022 The footings were poured last week (luckily Fremantle missed heavy rain that day!). This weekend was spent removing formwork and levelling / compacting about 6.5 cubic metres of yellow sand.

25.01.2022 R.I.P. my darling paw paw trees. It's time for them to go!

24.01.2022 The concrete contractors were working yesterday and today. The pad was sprayed for termite protection, formwork erected, plastic and steel mesh laid. Maybe the slab will be poured next week.

19.01.2022 I haven't done much this week apart from minor cleaning-up after a nasty fall out of an olive tree a week ago. The roof and ceiling were completed this week and white set plastering started today. I am back at work tomorrow and keeping away from pruning trees for a while!

15.01.2022 It's been a while since we posted anything on our Facebook page - we have been a little busy! Just a picture of the progress on the new guest gazebo. A tiled floor should be ready by Xmas. Spent a day preparing formwork for the concrete floor.

15.01.2022 How we have been spending our spare time! Hopefully the new cottage will be done by the New Year.

14.01.2022 Stephen and Shelagh from near Manchester are our first guests for the Summer Season. Little Dino was happy to spend some time with them! A new cottage will be added in the new year to Stayfreo's portfolio: http://www.stayfreo.com/properties/ . We spent some time today cleaning windows and preparing some areas for paving.

13.01.2022 Helping Dad with measuring some timber for skirting. The new Stayfreo cottage should be ready before the end of 2018 (especially if we continue to have help from Dino!).

12.01.2022 News for StayFreo is that construction has started on a new unit! Hopefully we can add this to our website in a year or so!http://www.stayfreo.com/properties/ A big thank you to all our guests who have shared time with us over the past year. The Douro Road Retreat has been very popular and it is time for a small expansion! A 11m X 7m section in the corner of the Douro Road Property is being cleared (a big thank you to Joy's parents for their help!).

12.01.2022 Balmy afternoon at the beach. A swim a great way to end the day!

12.01.2022 Texture Coating Done! The colour is supposed to match the olive leaves. Time for a big clean-up.

12.01.2022 Another day and step closer to completion of brickwork. Light winds and cloudy / cool weather are perfect for bricklaying! Happy that the corbels worked out OK. Without a verandah the corbels should give a little protection from sun and rain.

12.01.2022 Finally we have finished our new cottage - about a 2 year effort!

10.01.2022 We pulled down the old boundary fence about 4 months ago - since then the new unit was built. Today the last gap on the boundary was closed by building a small limestone wall. Thanks to our neighbors Phil and Chrissy who provided their sons Finn and Jaedyn to help with lifting the limestone blocks. I'm getting too old to do this by myself anymore!

10.01.2022 Sand render done. Roofing sheets are screwed on tomorrow - can't wait to come home tomorrow to see the finished roof!

08.01.2022 Spare time during days off over the last few weeks was spent levelling-out the gazebo floor & screwing together formwork for the hexagonal floor. Next step will be laying down steel mesh & the concrete pour.

06.01.2022 Just finished pruning trees in the front yard. New job starting next month and spending time on small jobs around the house. The last time I pruned in the front yard I fell out of the olive tree!

06.01.2022 Busy day preparing the foundations of the new cottage for http://www.stayfreo.com/properties/ The pilings on the northern boundary were completed today.

06.01.2022 A break in our winter rains allowed our builder to start laying bricks. 3 workers took one day to come up with what you see in the photos - great effort!

02.01.2022 Another day of hard labor! The reticulation (pressure pipe) needed to be diverted - about 3 days of digging later! A few photos taken while relaxing with a few beers!
