19.01.2022 Please help us welcome our new Digital Mentors! We have just completed 5 workshops over the last 4 weeks to train 80 new Digital Mentors to assist Seniors and Over 50s throughout Victoria with technology. Such a demand, our training program was booked out quickly and continues over the next nine months with monthly meetings, weekly training sessions and more. Exciting times for everyone! Thank you @BeConnectedAU and @goodthingsaus for the opportunity, and thank you to all of our new Digital Mentors for your enthusiasm and contribution! We look forward to working with you all. #seniors #digitalmentors #digitalinclusion

17.01.2022 We know that having access to data and digital devices is critical for Australians to continue learning digital skills and maintain vital connections to community, services and information. Unfortunately there are many Seniors who lack devices to use at home and are extremely isolated now more than ever whilst in our second Stage 3 lockdown. We are therefore thrilled to be part of BeConnected’s Digital Devices program which involves loaning devices and providing internet ...to Seniors who do not have devices, plus teaching them how to use them. Peter Twist from our Senior Digital Mentor team headed out this week with a big smile to deliver iPads and laptops to Seniors in Melbourne. Thank you Peter and our other volunteer digital mentors - Trevor, Joe and Veronica, Richard and Donald - who have also offered to remotely mentor these Senior learners. We are looking forward to hearing about their journeys! #seniors #digitalmentors #BeConnectedAU

16.01.2022 It's a wrap! Stay In Touch has just finished a 5 month training program, training 25 digital mentors to assist Australian Seniors. Lead by Jackie Knight, our Lead Senior Digital Mentor, this has been an extremely successful and rewarding program involving train the trainer workshops, group training, 1-on-1 mentoring, and monthly mentoring group meetings. What was supposed to be delivered face to face in Melbourne was quickly redesigned by Jackie to deliver via webinars, Zo...om meetings and remote support in order to stick to our deadlines. These amazing volunteers have come from a variety of background and experiences, mixing together beautifully, learning, sharing and supporting each other. We are proud to have worked with these mentors and look forward to this relationship continuing. Look out Melbourne when this digital mentor team comes out of isolation! In the meantime they will be practicing their new skills remotely with their learners. #Seniors #Digitalmentors #BeConnectedAU

12.01.2022 A feel good story for everyone. Stay In Touch have been given the opportunity to assist @BeConnected with delivering devices to Seniors who are isolated and do not have a device or internet to help them stay connected. Ross recently received one of these devices to use whilst in lockdown and will be supported by Trevor Scott one of our senior digital mentors. Having never used technology before Ross was a little bit nervous but we can tell by his smile that he is keen to learn and stay connected. If you have a friend or neighbour that is isolated and needs help with technology, ask them to call our Senior Technology Support team on 03 9596 4547 www.stayintouch.net.au #BeConnected #tutoring #technicalsupport #seniors

10.01.2022 Garmin’s ransomware attack is a tough reminder to tighten up security and have a risk management plan in place for your organisation. Some things to consider now more than ever with many employees working from home: ensure your organisation has remote access policies in place, ensure networks used by staff are secure, manage this access, use VPN and encryption to protect your data, strong passwords and multi-factor authentication, only trusted devices, train your staff, back up and data loss protection, monitor staff connection and devices, and have an incident response plan in place. If you need assistance in this area contact our business technology consulting team on 03 9596 4547 www.stayintouch.net.au #cybersecurity #riskmanagement #dataprotection #stafftraining

10.01.2022 Many of you may be aware that Garmin services and gone down after a ransomware attack that has encrypted it’s internal network and some production systems. This has also impacted their call centres, leaving the company in the situation of being unable to answer calls, emails or online chat. Words is spreading that it is due to a new strain of ransomware called WastedLocker. The reach is yet unknown to 3-party observers or if customer data has been stolen. To be safe, if you have used your Garmin password on any of your other online accounts, go and change those passwords. For help on passwords go to https://www.stayintouch.net.au/creatingpasswords #cybersecurity #passwords

08.01.2022 Some humour for our senior clients, using words as we first new them. Have fun watching this, we did! For those that do not know, Orange is a UK internet and phone plan provider, like Telstra Optus etc.

05.01.2022 The webinar ‘Profile Building and Networking on LinkedIn’ yesterday was one of the first digital advisory webinars for small business owners we have delivered since lock down for the Melbourne Innovation Centre and Australian Small Business Advisory Service. Normally delivered face to face, we are running these as webinars to assist small businesses during social distancing. There were many more participants registered than the face to face workshops, which filled us with... a little bit of nervous and excited anticipation. This lasted all of five minutes and then we were on our way. We are so pleased with the chats, questions and contributions from all of the participants. Everyone is feeling the hardship of lock down, but your positive and enthusiastic energy came through, you know who you all are. We thank you. We have received a volume of positive feedback, one being from an amazing photographer Echo Blue Photography (by Linda Golikidis) Wow - this is amazing - your responses are exactly what I've been looking for. I've heard so many conflicting ideas of what and what not to do and you have just made it much easier. I'm pretty social media savvy but very new to LinkedIn - only a few weeks in. And I am mindful of the culture and the personal brand that I want to have on here, hence the questions and balance of it all. You have taken the time to answer all these questions and I now have a very clear plan of where I want to go with LinkedIn and a list of actions to take me there. Thank you Linda Golikidis. If you would like to know more about this passionate small business owner go to https://www.echobluephotography.com.au We are running our next webinar for small business owners on Twitter, Tuesday 12th on Twitter - go to https://www.stayintouch.net.au/group-training-events for more details. #smallbusinessowners #digitalsupport #training
