25.01.2022 It was encouraging to have so many tune in to our Good Friday service livestream yesterday - because hearing from Gods word and being reminded what Jesus did for us on the cross is the best way to spend this weekend! In his sermon from John 12, James shared three things: the cross is for all nations, the cross takes away our sin, and the cross displays the glory of God. What were you encouraged or challenged by from this passage? But the weekend isnt over! Just as the cross wasnt the end of the Gods story of salvation. Join us to livestream tomorrow at 10:30am or 6pm to celebrate Jesus rising from the dead. Find the link in our bio.

25.01.2022 Join us for church online today as we begin our new series in the Psalms, "The Messiahs Songbook". Did you know the New Testament quotes the Psalms more than any other book in the Old Testament? The Psalms are a special and treasured resource for believers, and especially so in times of isolation. This is the perfect time to listen to the Psalms as they teach us how to seek God in every situation, how to pour out our hearts to him, both crying out to him for help, and praisi...ng him. Tune in at 10:30am or 6pm via the link below: https://www.stbarnabaschurch.org.au We also have Arabic and Assyrian congregations who livestream on Sunday afternoons, find the links to them on the website too.

22.01.2022 O great God of highest heaven Occupy my lowly heart Own it all and reign supreme Conquer every rebel power Let no vice or sin remain... That resists Your holy war You have loved and purchased me Make me Yours forevermore I was blinded by my sin Had no ears to hear Your voice Did not know Your love within Had no taste for heavens joys Then Your Spirit gave me life Opened up Your Word to me Through the gospel of Your Son Gave me endless hope and peace Help me now to live a life Thats dependent on Your grace Keep my heart and guard my soul From the evils that I face You are worthy to be praised With my every thought and deed O great God of highest heaven Glorify Your Name through me Music and words by Bob Kauflin. 21.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day! We prayed yesterday... Today give thanks for the men in our church and pray they would be growing in Christ likeness as they seek to know God and live out his word faithfully. Pray that those who are husbands and fathers would sacrificially serve their families, modelling humility, compassion, dependency on Christ. Pray that all the men in our church would encourage each other to live for Christ every day. Pray also for Gods comfort for those for whom Fa...thers Day is hard, as they grieve broken relationships or unfulfilled longings. Amen. The Bible speaks a lot about fathers and their important role loving and serving their families and pointing them to Jesus. They do that by following our Heavenly Father, who loves us with a perfect and never failing love. Some of the passages which speak about his great love for us include... Isaiah 64:8 "Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand." James 1:17 "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." 1 John 3:1 "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" Romans 8:15 "The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, Abba, Father. Psalm 103:13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. Image of John 3:16 from @compassionuk

21.01.2022 Join us for church today! Were looking at Psalm 18, heres a snapshot of verse 1-3... I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,... my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies. How can the Psalmist say that? Why does he have such confidence? Tune in to find out how these verses can be ours too. English livestream every Sunday 10:30am and 6pm. We also have Assyrian livestream 4pm and Arabic at 6pm. Find all the details and links at our website: https://www.stbarnabaschurch.org.au

Please keep those refugees who have little access to government support in your prayers too.

12.01.2022 Dear Heavenly Father, On ANZAC Day, we give thanks for the peace and security we enjoy in Australia and remember the service of previous and current defence force personnel. We commit to you all those grieving the loss of service men and women, and pray they would find eternal hope in Jesus. ... Please bless the work of chaplains within the Australian Defence Forces and give them many opportunities to share the good news of Jesus. We pray this is the name of our Lord Jesus, who willingly laid down his life as a sacrifice so that whoever believes in him can have eternal life, Amen. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:9-10 NIV

04.01.2022 Some women from our church participated in this beautiful virtual choir for the Equip women conference this year - check it out! Rock of ages, cleft for me. Hide me now, my refuge be. Let the water and the blood ... From your wounded side which flowed, Be for sin the double cure. Cleanse me from its guilt and power. Not the labors of my hands Can fulfill your laws demands. Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears forever flow, All for sin could not atone; You must save, and You alone. Nothing in my hand I bring, Simply to your cross I cling; Naked come to You for dress; Helpless look to You for grace, Stained by sin to You I cry. Wash me, Savior or I die. While I draw this fleeting breath; When my eyelids close in death; When I soar to realms unknown, Bow before the judgment throne, Hide me now my refuge be; Rock of ages, cleft for me. Words and Music by Augustus Toplady and Ruth Buchanan.

04.01.2022 Whatever happens in this life, we can have confidence in the Lord Jesus and the life to come, because of the wonderful grace he has given us... I will see the world to come For one has suffered in my place Now there is grace awaiting me, awaiting me.... Judgements done, atonements made The ransoms paid, no guilt remains Now there is grace awaiting me, awaiting me! Grace - a welcome from the Father Grace - forgiveness full and free Grace - thats greater than our failings Oh there is grace awaiting me I take comfort in the hope Of the thief upon the cross For I am worthy of as little love as he. Like this man, I wont despair For lifes ahead, what joy well share Now there is grace awaiting me, awaiting me! Grace - a welcome from the Father Grace - forgiveness full and free Grace - thats greater than our failings Oh there is grace awaiting me Jesus you have loved and bought me By your death my debts are paid I am yours, I stand beside you Fearless face the coming day. I will see the world to come Despite the sin that I have done For there is grace awaiting me, awaiting me. All who call upon the Lord Will rise to life with peace assured For there is grace awaiting me, awaiting me.
