24.01.2022 This Sunday we’re starting our new series of Bible talks on the book of Romans. Please join us! We livestream at 10:30am and 6pm in English, find the link on our website www.stbarnabaschurch.org.au Sovereign Grace has a great album Grace Has Come, songs that can help us think more about this part of God’s word, and what it means to live as Christians who know it’s only by grace we are saved. ... Find it on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/6VsoAlw3TuQIYd5H9GLKTN Here is the first song, The Gospel Was Promised... The gospel was promised by sages and prophets The Scriptures spoke of a Son Descendant of David, and yet uncreated Clothed in our flesh He would come Predestined to seek us He took on our weakness And died our death on the cross But just as was spoken, The grave could not hold Him The glorious Son of God His name is Jesus His name is Jesus His name is Jesus Christ, our Lord We're loved and forgiven, compelled by a vision To see His mercy proclaimed Announcing salvation to every nation All for the sake of His name We're no longer strangers For Jesus, our Savior Has come to make us His own We're called to be holy And now we live only To make His glory known His name is Jesus His name is Jesus His name is Jesus Christ, our Lord

24.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day! We prayed yesterday... Today give thanks for the men in our church and pray they would be growing in Christ likeness as they seek to know God and live out his word faithfully. Pray that those who are husbands and fathers would sacrificially serve their families, modelling humility, compassion, dependency on Christ. Pray that all the men in our church would encourage each other to live for Christ every day. Pray also for God's comfort for those for whom Fa...thers Day is hard, as they grieve broken relationships or unfulfilled longings. Amen. The Bible speaks a lot about fathers and their important role in loving and serving their families and pointing them to Jesus. They do that by following our Heavenly Father, who loves us with a perfect and never failing love. Some of the passages which speak about his great love for us include... Isaiah 64:8 "Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand." James 1:17 "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." 1 John 3:1 "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" Romans 8:15 "The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, Abba, Father. Psalm 103:13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. Image of John 3:16 from Compassion International

24.01.2022 It was encouraging to have so many tune in to our Good Friday service livestream yesterday - because hearing from Gods word and being reminded what Jesus did for us on the cross is the best way to spend this weekend! In his sermon from John 12, James shared three things: the cross is for all nations, the cross takes away our sin, and the cross displays the glory of God. What were you encouraged or challenged by from this passage? But the weekend isnt over! Just as the cross wasnt the end of the Gods story of salvation. Join us to livestream tomorrow at 10:30am or 6pm to celebrate Jesus rising from the dead. Find the link in our bio.

21.01.2022 Dear Heavenly Father, On ANZAC Day, we give thanks for the peace and security we enjoy in Australia and remember the service of previous and current defence force personnel. We commit to you all those grieving the loss of service men and women, and pray they would find eternal hope in Jesus. ... Please bless the work of chaplains within the Australian Defence Forces and give them many opportunities to share the good news of Jesus. We pray this is the name of our Lord Jesus, who willingly laid down his life as a sacrifice so that whoever believes in him can have eternal life, Amen. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:9-10 NIV

They serve with CMS, who work together with churches like us to see a world that knows Jesus! This year, CMS needs to raise $1.6 million by 30 June to support missionaries like Miriam, Dan and Olivia and Kate and Bijay as they share lasting hope throughout the world. If you are able to make a one-off contribution to support Gods mission through CMS, please do so at https://lastinghope.cms.org.au. #OurLastingHope and keep praying for the good news of Jesus to go out around the world!

11.01.2022 I have a massive church family that I never thought I would have. I have Christian brothers and sisters, and my social support group has enlarged on a scale I never thought possible. My family were happy when I left the cult. The relationship I have with my mother is so full of love and closeness and laughter, its really improved. And I have an assured hope because of Jesus. He died for my sins. Life is not about getting the best career. Things in life are here one day, go...ne the next. I find a fulfilled purpose in what Jesus offers in Matthew 28 when he gives the Great Commission. Everything else fades away, but that will last forever. We love hearing one of our members, Joseph, share how Jesus came into his life. Read more here: https://sydneyanglicans.net//the-cult-didnt-give-me-/50462 Everyone is welcome to join us for church on Sundays (small groups are meeting in person, and our services are live-streamed). We also have Meet Jesus - where you can find our more about Jesus too just as Joseph has! Find the information on our website: www.stbarnabaschurch.org.au

06.01.2022 Please join us in praying for the people of Lebanon and those affected by this mornings explosion in Beirut. Thank you St Michaels for putting this together. We know many in our local area have family members in Lebanon, and that it is a common transit country to live in before coming to Australia for those fleeing Iraq and Syria. Please keep those refugees who have little access to government support in your prayers too.

02.01.2022 Some women from our church participated in this beautiful virtual choir for the Equip women conference this year - check it out! Rock of ages, cleft for me. Hide me now, my refuge be. Let the water and the blood ... From your wounded side which flowed, Be for sin the double cure. Cleanse me from its guilt and power. Not the labors of my hands Can fulfill your laws demands. Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears forever flow, All for sin could not atone; You must save, and You alone. Nothing in my hand I bring, Simply to your cross I cling; Naked come to You for dress; Helpless look to You for grace, Stained by sin to You I cry. Wash me, Savior or I die. While I draw this fleeting breath; When my eyelids close in death; When I soar to realms unknown, Bow before the judgment throne, Hide me now my refuge be; Rock of ages, cleft for me. Words and Music by Augustus Toplady and Ruth Buchanan.

01.01.2022 Our Meet Jesus course starts next Monday! WHAT IS CHRISTIANITY? Christianity is all about Jesus.... Jesus made extraordinary claims, the biggest of which is that he said he is God. Jesus did extraordinary things, the biggest being that he died and rose back to life. Jesus said this was important because it is the only way you can be friends with God. This is what the Bible says. Meet Jesus at a short course where you can see for yourself what the Bible says about Jesus. JOIN THE COURSE Meet Jesus is currently running online on Zoom on Monday nights. Come along, ask questions and investigate Jesus for yourself. You can participate as much as youd like (youre welcome to listen with your video off if youd like, or you can grill our assistant minister Vinno with your tricky questions!). Sign up via our website: https://www.stbarnabaschurch.org.au/jesus
