If you think you were registered for the ballot and you haven't got an email from us, please get in touch ASAP. There will definitely be a second draw in the ballot before the end of October, so if you haven't registered yet, now is the time!

21.01.2022 After dropping the acorns and taking a little while to gather them all up, the squirrels are back at it. Emails to ballot participants went out TODAY! *Squee! Please check your spam folder, some of the squirrels are battling gremlins at the moment and emails are going wayward. As a last resort, if you cant find an email from us simply log in to your account and see if youre allowed to purchase your pass.

Lets get real for a second here: Swingin' The Blues 2019 needs to sell at least 10 more spots before the end of the month to remain viable, and we just dont have enough people in the ballot to draw that many tickets at the moment. If youre tossing up whether to come or not, this could be your last chance, dont leave it up to other people to make sure the event runs. Head to our registration page, make sure you read the terms and conditions, and then regi...ster! The ballot will be drawn in the middle of January to give winners time to pay for their ticket before we need to make a final go-ahead decision. 21.01.2022 WOAH. We've been flipping through the pics from our Swingin' the Blues photo shoot in the Blue Mountains prior to announcing our first event and we came across this one! See the gesture Leigh and Kara are making here? It's called "shy love" and is used to express love, thanks and appreciation in South Korea. Youngdon and Dawa showed Kara when they first met, and we decided on a whim to take a photo with some shy love to show off our gorgeous location. Little did we know that... we'd be inviting Youngdon and Dawa to be a part of our event! How cool is that?! First seen in Australia at Black Swan Blues, we fell deeply in love with their dancing and attitude towards the dance. 18.01.2022 This is it people! The first draw of the ticket ballot closes at midnight tonight (Sydney time)! Here's one for the mathematicians: if there are eight Aussie teachers on the team and five of them teach following how many teach leading? Three? Wrong, it's SIX. 6 + 5 = 8 ... Vanessa, Kara and Noni all regularly teach both leading and following in blues and swing, and are equally skilled in both roles. All six of our lead teachers and all five of our follow teachers are award-winning, highly popular social dancers. What is this magic you ask? Come find out next April!

16.01.2022 BOOM! First announcement since our #when! We couldnt be more excited to announce that Michael & Evita are returning to Swingin' The Blues in April 2019! This year these two were an absolute hit both on and off the dance floor, just ask your friends about Michael and Karolinas wine tasting, or Evitas DJ set. For those of you who *havent* met these wonderful humans, heres a short list of their dance credentials ... Michael and Evita are International Lindy Hop dancers and teachers based in New York City. They bring an exuberant energy and joy to every project. Their combined resumes span the globe, together having performed on prestigious stages and dancing with Philharmonic Orchestras, touring with Broadway shows, working with Jazz at Lincoln Center plus appearances on, So You Think You Can Dance. Michael and Evita have worked together for over 13 years and have been dancing Lindy Hop for 20 years. As dance teachers, Michael and Evita emphasize the understanding of anatomy and efficient use of the body. Connecting movements through elegant flow, clearly projecting direction within the body, and romantic personal interactions are what create their lead and follow technique. Above all other descriptions, one will surely say that Michael and Evita are inspiring to watch and possess a warm welcome to any student of Lindy Hop. 15.01.2022 This is Serena Serena has been absolutely invaluable to our safer spaces efforts. She has advised on legal requirements, worked with us on building best practice internal policies and procedures, and generally helps keep us sane all year long. Serena was also instrumental in shaping our Code of Conduct, and were quite proud of how the 2018 event turned out. We hope 2019 will be even better and were *very* happy Serena will be continuing in her role for another year! 13.01.2022 So, whats this ballot thing all about? In a nutshell, its the fairest way we could think of (with some help from Tim) to allow everyone a chance to get a ticket to Swingin the Blues. In more detail, when an event opens registrations, follow passes sell like hotcakes. Lead passes tend to sit on the shelf for a while, and some partner passes get sold. ... That puts the onus on follows to: a) be online at the exact time that registrations open and hope theyre one of the lucky ones b) wait for more leads to register and hope they can get off the waitlist c) ask around (beg, plead, ) for a lead to register with. Frankly, were tired of that process. SO, in our system - the ballot - we give everyone a window to register in, and a date when the random draw happens. We even allow you to pair up with someone (lead or follow doesnt matter) and you tickets are counted together - that means you can still go to the event with a friend. So, yes, you may miss out on one of only 92 sleeping spaces in the hotel. (This number is counting 2 Queen beds in a room as 4 spaces, and after accounting for crew only 60 or so spaces are actually available.) You wont, however, miss out because youve chosen to be a follow (or lead) and didnt get to the computer on time or didnt have a lead to register with. At this point in time, were not sure which camp Swingin the Blues is in. There are many factors that determine the longevity of an event - budget, interest from dancers, life stage of the organisers, the 7 year itch, and more.
