25.01.2022 Good morning everyone I would like to confirm that church tomorrow will still be on zoom at 8 am and 9 30 am. Each church is making their own decision. I feel that although lockdown is lifting at midnight there are community infections in our neighbourhood and we need to take care of each other by not gathering in person just yet. Enjoy a walk in the cool of the morning or evening and see you on Zoom. Take care and God bless

23.01.2022 Reading through Mark's Gospel in Lent. Mark 3:20-34 is a challenging passage of Scripture in which Jesus is accused of being out of his mind by his family and also the prince of demons by the religious leaders from Jerusalem. Jesus concludes by looking at those seated in a circle around him and saying "Here are my mother, brothers and sisters." Let us reflect on how we live as brothers and sisters of Jesus.

20.01.2022 Reading through Mark's Gospel in Lent. Today in Mark 2:1-17 Jesus heals a paralyzed man in Capernaum who is let down through the roof by his friends to get near to Jesus the source of healing and forgiveness. Who helps us come close to Jesus the source of healing and forgiveness?

20.01.2022 Reading Mark's Gospel in Lent. Mark 4:1-20 includes the Parable of the Sower. Despite all the seed lost to birds and seedlings chocked by weeds there is an astoundingly plentiful harvest. May we like God the sower continue to scatter seeds of hope, peace and compassion despite seeing that some do not take root and grow to fruitbearing maturity. May we trust that God's harvest will nevertheless be plentiful and more than enough to feed and shelter all people.

14.01.2022 During September we will join Christians throughout the world in marking the Season of Creation. We start on Sunday Sept 5 with a focus on forests. Our most local forests are mangrove forests along the Port River.

13.01.2022 Hello everyone this morning we marked Defence Sunday and prayed for those currently serving in the Australia Defence Force. In doing so we recognised that our defence forces have needed to take on new roles in this last year related to bushfires and pandemic responses and restrictions. This morning we also had the delight of baptizing young Evelyn whose parents both serve in the Air Force, with her godparents and grandparents interstate joining us via Zoom. At baptism we pre...sent a candle and commission the one baptised to shine as a light in the world to the glory of God. In the Matthew 25 Gospel reading today we heard the challenging parable of the ten bridesmaids. All ten of whom get weary with waiting. We are in a season of waiting highlighted this week by waiting for US election results. Over these last few months of the Covid 19 pandemic we have been waiting to flatten the curve, donut day in Melbourne, the lifting of various restrictions and the opening of borders. Some are anxiously waiting for news from countries where covid19 infections are increasing or from serving ADF members deployed overseas. All of us are waiting for a vaccine and the end of the pandemic. To sustain us in our waiting and to support those we love throughtout the world we can pray. The Archbisops of Canterbury and York have put out a joint press release encouraging prople to pray for their nation at 6 pm each night. They have published a cycle of prayer for this on the Church of England website if we wish to join our brothers and sisters overseas in this prayer. By regular prayer with words and/or in actions such as lighting a candle we grow in our relationship with God and develop reserves of good oil to help us shine with God's light even into darkness, despair and disease, thereby bringing the hope. comfort and guidance of Christ the light of the world into our hearts, homes and neighbourhood.

10.01.2022 Hello everyone on Sunday Sept 27 we are participating in the SA Festival of Nature with our Community Garden Open Day from 11 to 3 with Pet Blessing at 2 pm. Paint a bird pot, see what is growing in the garden plots, find out about bringing back the butterfiles and buy plants, calendula ointment, worms or windchimes. Enjoy a sausage sizzle and cold drink or cuppa and cake. Covid plan in place. All welcome.

08.01.2022 Reading through Mark's Gospel in Lent. Today in Mark 2:18-28 Jesus responds to two criticisms of him and his disciples. One concerns fasting and the other Sabbath observance. Jesus concludes that the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath. In 1991 the World Council of Churches met in Canberra. The first Gulf War was escalating at the time and it was decided to hold a 24 hour vigil of prayer and fasting. Some of the young people I came to know said that they would use their vouchers because if there was food available they would eat. At home they often missed meals as there was not enough food available in their poverty stricken homelands. Let us consider how we fast this Lent, not judge others fasting choices and be thankful that we live where we have many and varied opportunities to eat.

07.01.2022 Remembrance Day Wednesfay November 11 at 11 am. We will meet by the rose garden for the two minute silence. All welcome.

06.01.2022 Reading through Mark's Gospel in Lent. In Mark 3:1-19 Jesus visits the synagogue and commissions 12 disciples to participate in his ministry of healing by chosing to do good over evil and to save life rather than to kill by neglect - even if on the Sabbath. What might God by calling us to do in this season of life?

04.01.2022 Celebrating Mangroves in the Season of Creation

01.01.2022 Reading Mark in Lent. In Mark 4:21-41 we continue to hear parables of growth with a focus on faith extending into the story of Jesus stilling the storm. Let us reflect on the growth of faith in our lives. Has it been slow and steady growth or are there special moments with leaps of faith -perhaps in the midst of storms of life? Can we identify the mustard seed of faith in our lives ... the little things from which big things grow? Is it only when we look back we can see that through God's grace our faith has grown like the seed growing secretly?
