23.01.2022 HEALTH ALERT: ACT RESIDENTS TRAVELLING FROM BATEMANS BAY From 12 noon today (Monday 20 July 2020) anyone who attended the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club on Mo...nday 13 July, Wednesday 15 July, Thursday 16 July and Friday 17 July are required to quarantine for 14 days from the date of their departure. This is legally required under a New Public Health Direction signed today, even if you don’t have symptoms. If you’ve visited Batemans Bay Soldiers Club on these dates, contact ACT Health through the COVID-19 Helpline on (02) 6207 7244 so we can support you through your quarantine and organise to get you tested for COVID-19. If you were holidaying in Batemans Bay recently, but didn’t attend the club, you should still be vigilant and get tested if you develop COVID-19 symptoms no matter how mild. We are closely monitoring the situation in NSW and working closely with NSW Health. The COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly. Stay up to date with the latest advice www.covid19.act.gov.au
22.01.2022 Quarantine Advice Soldiers Club Bateman’s Bay ACT Chief Health Officer Dr Kerryn Coleman has advised that from 12 noon today, 20 July 2020 anyone who attended the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club on Monday 13 July and Wednesday, 15 July through to Friday 17 July will be legally required to self-quarantine immediately for 14 days from the date of their visit. We also strongly recommend anybody who visited Batemans Bay Soldiers Club on the above dates get tested for COVID-19, and con...tact ACT Health for advice so they can be supported in their quarantine. Even if you test negative you are still required to self-quarantine until 14 days from the date of your visit at the Soldiers Club. With many Canberrans returning from the south coast after the school holidays we are keen to ensure anyone who has been in this location on the dates specified by NSW Health follow the advice to self-quarantine and get tested. Contact the COVID-19 Helpline on (02) 6207 7244 if you have attended the Soldiers Club last week. ACT Health is working closely with its NSW counterparts to contact trace anyone in the club over those days but I would urge anyone who has not yet been contacted and was in the Club to follow this advice. Anyone who was not at the club but holidaying in Batemans Bay is asked to be vigilant with their health and to get tested if they have any symptoms of COVID-19, no matter how mild. A reminder that symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath. Less common symptoms are loss of smell, loss of taste, runny nose, muscle pain, joint pain, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite. We are in a strong position in the ACT at the moment but we all need to work together as a community to ensure it stays that way, Dr Coleman said. The situation is rapidly evolving so it is important any Canberrans who have been travelling in New South Wales recently to monitor the latest NSW updates.

18.01.2022 Today, on the first Sunday of Advent, we light the Candle of Hope, in remembrance of the Prophet Isaiah, who first foretold the birth of Christ. The candle is a symbol of God's love and forgiveness and represents the hope experienced by many anticipating the birth of Jesus.

15.01.2022 UPDATE ON STAGE 3 EASING OF COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS (23 July 2020) Following a ‘COVID Safe check point’ and advice from the ACT Chief Health Officer, Dr Ker...ryn Coleman, the ACT will not move forward with the implementation of Stage 3 restrictions in the ACT for a further two weeks. No new changes outlined in Stage 3 of Canberra's Recovery Plan will proceed tomorrow, Friday 24 July 2020. We will remain in Step 2.2. So far, the ACT community has done an outstanding job in responding to the threat of COVID-19. It has allowed the Territory to carefully ease restrictions over the past few months without putting a strain on our health system. We all know what the impact of going backwards would be on our economy, and with new cases being confirmed everyday across NSW, we need to be cautious. Please continue to play your role in stopping the spread of COVID-19, remember to: Avoid large crowds. Keep 1.5 metres apart from others you don’t know, whenever possible. Continue good hand and respiratory hygiene. Stay home if you are unwell and get tested if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. More information at www.covid19.act.gov.au

06.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers, As part of our Grandparents and Grand Friends celebration we would like every student to write a letter to their Grandparents or Grand Friends which the school would then post on their behalf. To help us achieve this goal we ask that parents send a postal address for their child’s grandparents to their child’s classroom teacher. Thank you for your support with this!

05.01.2022 In 3/4 students have begun investigating the mass of objects in their environment. Students worked in pairs to make predictions about which objects may be heavier, lighter or the same mass, and then compared how each object felt as they held it in their hands.

Please keep this in mind when you come to pick up your children today. The oval will be open for any flow on traffic. You may like to consider parking in the surrounding streets and walking to the school grounds for pick up. Thank you for your support with this.... Kind regards Rachel Smith Principal
02.01.2022 You know what's better than saying "this food is good for you"? Tell them what foods do in their body! Why do I keep sharing this message? Because we keep selli...ng our kids short labeling foods and good/bad, healthy/unhealthy. Here are some examples of messages I like for different ages: For 2-3yo kids I usually break it down by color. Although it's not 100% accurate, it’s a good framework to get started. Red: gives you a strong heart Orange: helps you see in the dark Yellow: helps your body heal cuts Green: gives you super powers to fight off sickness Blue and Purple: Give you a strong brain White: gives you energy For 4s and 5s you can start being more specific - like carrots and sweet potatoes help you be able to see in the dark. Clementines help your skin heal cuts. Broccoli helps your night vision, your skin heal, AND your bones be strong. For 4s/5s and 6s you can introduce the idea that some foods do a lot of things in their bodies and some foods do a few things. For 6s and 7s you can introduce the concept of vitamins and minerals - tell them HOW carrots protect their night vision (via vitamin A). Learn about the body. For 8s and 9s - learn even more about different things in foods. And so on. All the while, model the way you want your kids to eat in your home and serve them the balanced diet you want them to eat. That's more powerful than anything you could ever tell them. If you need help getting your child to try new foods, my free child eating guide From Stress to Success - 4 Ways to Help Your Child Eat Better without Losing Your Mind is in my bio @kids.eat.in.color #kidseatincolor See more
