24.01.2022 + Songs of Hope + Out of Hiding by Steffany Gretzinger covered by the wonderful Justine! "When I'm at my loneliest the desire of my heart is that someone would remember me...this song is like Jesus' conversation back to me and in his loneliest moment on the cross it was me that He was thinking of."... Lyrics - Come out of hiding You're safe here with Me There's no need to cover What I already see You've got your reasons But I hold your peace You've been on lock-down And I hold the key 'Cause I loved you before you knew it was love And I saw it all, still I chose the cross And you were the one that I was thinking of When I rose from the grave Now rid of the shackles, My victory's yours I tore the veil for you to come close There's no reason to stand at a distance anymore You're not far from home And now I'll be your lighthouse When you're lost at sea And I will illuminate Everything No need to be frightened by intimacy No, just throw off your fear And come running to Me

22.01.2022 Introducing... Ros! > What's your role at the parish? I am Ros, the care missionary from St Benedicts church community. My role in the parish is the coordinator for the Benedict Care program, where I organise angels to go have spiritual talks (and sometimes just simple chats), visiting aged care facilities in the area, dropping off weekly bulletins and helping our senior parishioners. I work closely with a Loving mentor and together we help reach out to those who are in ne...ed. > What's a skill have you taken up during isolation? Making phone calls. I used to feel so awkward calling strangers over the phone. Joining Benedict Care has built my confidence. I enjoy talking with our senior parishioners and now it is becoming my activity during isolation. >Favourite prayer? Prayers taught at Fatima. It was introduced by Fr Gerard Ryan from Wagga Wagga a few years ago when he came to St Benedicts church. I have been praying this prayer before I go to bed. > Cats or dogs? DOGS! It was my dream to have a dog. So, when I just came to Australia, I was given a dog as my 17th birthday present. > How do you like your coffee? I love my flat white coffee with almond milk. It has to be hot and flat with no foam at all.

18.01.2022 Love a bit of Romans 5 We boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Your mercy rains from heaven Like confetti at a wedding And I am celebrating In the downpour Your heart is wild with colour Like a never-ending summer You burn away the winter Of my cold and weary heart My soul cries out holy, holy My heart is lost in Your beauty All hope is found in Your mercy You paid the price now I am Finally free Your grace, oh God's the anchor That's holding me forever Come trouble or high water I am steadfast Yeah, you lift me when I'm sinking Like the swell of mighty oceans The power of redemption Yeah, it gives me wings to soar We'll cast our crowns before Him Like the rusting leaves of autumn Now every chain lies broken And finally we're free

11.01.2022 This weekend, the Catholic Church in Australia marks Child Protection Sunday, on which we pray for those who have been abused, their families and supporters. We recognise and apologise for the harm done by priests, religious and lay people in Church settings. The Church takes a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse. We recommit to practices that support survivors and make the Catholic Church and its ministries the safest possible place for children and people at risk. 09.01.2022 A message from Fr Dan for parishioners and friends of St Benedict's.

09.01.2022 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Cor 13 Reflect on your motivation for love with this homily - https://stbenedicts.com.au/homily/searching-our-motivations

08.01.2022 Silence isn't empty, it's full of answers. When was the last time you made time for silence? Alone, no phone, no interruptions. God speaks in the silence of our heart. Often our lives are full noise - radio, TV, music, chatter, podcasts, netflix, etc. Silence allows us to empty our hearts of this noise and make room for God's presence. ... Our chapel is open Monday - Friday 10am-10pm for silent prayer and Eucharistic Adoration. All are welcome!

06.01.2022 Sexual attraction: Is it a life-giving or destructive force in my life? Online session over Zoom for all age groups Sun., Sept.20th, 3.15 4.30 pm... In this session, well look particularly at the man-woman relationship and how sex is a beautiful & powerful gift from God; yet how it can also be powerfully destructive when used outside the context & way for which God gave it. Well also reflect on boundaries that are important to put into place, to protect ourselves and others from stepping down a destructive path in this area, as well as a pathway to restoration, where we have gone down this road. To register for this session click here: https://forms.gle/4Sd3Bh4rcz2a8pqL6 This program is run by 'Kerygma' and supported by St. Ben's

04.01.2022 Introducing... Karen! > What's your role at the parish? My role is Online Ministry Coordinator. I've been working on building up our online presence, sharing our mission and values via social media, helping develop our online ministry strategy and working on ways to help us all connect during lockdown. ... > What's your favourite bible verse? 2 Cor 12:9- My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. It reminds me that God is what I need, not my own strength or perfection. And that weakness can be a gift because when I am weak I allow God to have control. > How do you like your coffee? Black and with a friend and good conversation. > What has been keeping you entertained during lockdown? I realised I forgot how to whistle and have been practicing! A lot of walks, practicing guitar and figuring out how to do stuff on social media! And getting to know the St Ben's community :) > Favourite snack? Crunchy peanut butter and sliced banana on a wholemeal wrap, toasted. Or any kind of ice cream.
