25.01.2022 St. Bernadette's Mini Vinnies are joining with the St. Bernadette's Parish to assist with the social justice initiative of collecting the Christmas Hampers. Each class has a particular family they are collecting for and 2 Hampers for Year 5 and 6. We are looking for Christmas treats, items of food that a family would enjoy on Christmas Day, small gifts suitable for the family members and non-perishable food (at least 1 year in date). 4W families have already been very generous. All donations are to be in by Thursday 3rd December.

22.01.2022 The Year 5 Spirituality day is an opportunity for the students and teachers to take some time to reflect on how far we have all come this year. From their first camp in February to this day, the students have grown and matured so much. This morning we celebrated a beautiful Liturgy together, prepared by the students. In the reflections, the students identified many qualities of leadership that they aspire to. These words, they’ve now written onto stones and placed in our prayer space, will be the foundations of their leadership as they move forwards to becoming year 6 2021.

18.01.2022 The Year 5 reading inquiry this term was a great opportunity for children to learn how to find a "good fit" book. In the beginning, many children talked about how hard it can be to find a book that is not too easy, not too hard, from a genre they enjoy, with a perfect emotional connection. A "good fit" book is just right! This week we had our gallery walk where the children shared their "Book in a Box", infographics and websites with their peers. The children came away from this with a list of books they'd love to try.
17.01.2022 As is tradition at St Bernadette's, children and staff usually wear a jersey on Father's Day raising awareness for organ donation. The campaign was initiated a... few years ago by The Gremmo family who tragically lost their son in a road accident locally. The Gremmo family is well known in the Hills District. Children are permitted to wear a 'sports jersey' with their sport uniform this Friday (4 September). Unfortunately, this year we are not able to celebrate this special day with our dads on site. However, we wish you all a fabulous day on Sunday with your children. We will be posting some photos on our Facebook page of children celebrating Father's Day at school. Kind regards, Mrs Bianca Cooke - Principal St Bernadette's School Castle Hill
