25.01.2022 World Billiards and the Australian Billiards & Snooker Council are delighted to announce that the 2019 World Billiards Championship and 2019 World Open will tak...e place at the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria, in Melbourne, Australia, between Sunday 6th and Saturday 12th October. The World Open will be played over the first two days of this period. The World Billiards Championship will be contested between Tuesday 8th and Saturday 12th. The historic and prestigious World Billiards Championship, first contested in 1870, was played in Melbourne in 1934, when Australian billiards legend Walter Lindrum defended his title against Englands Joe Davis. 85 years later, the Championship will be played in Australia again. The RACV Club is an outstanding venue for this event, with a first-class members only billiard room, extensive dining facilities and an on-site hotel. It is situated right in the heart of Melbourne within walking distance of numerous cafes, restaurants and entertainment facilities. Further details will be released shortly.

12.01.2022 In light of recent developments in respect of the COVID-19 virus, the Board of the Australian Billiards and Snooker Council (ABSC) has resolved to cancel all na...tional and open tournaments presently scheduled in the period up to 30 June 2020. Ultimately the health, safety and welfare of the players, officials and the community generally has to take precedence. The Board expects that its decision will be mirrored at a State & Territory level by its various Member States. Any entry fees paid to date for any ABSC events will be refunded in full. We suggest you seek to obtain a refund or insurance payment for any travel expenses already incurred or defer and reuse the airfares in the future. This decision also extends to players who are eligible to compete in tournaments overseas. At this time the ABSC will not support any player who wishes to travel internationally to play in tournaments. The Board will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will advise of any change to its position as and when necessary.
