24.01.2022 Poetry Festival Highlights - Years 5 - 6

24.01.2022 As the sun sets on Term 3, we would like to thank our St Catherine's families for their wonderful support. It has been a very busy term and Term 4 will gain momentum! Have a relaxing holiday with your family and friends. Stay safe and look after each other. We look forward to seeing your happy, smiling faces on Tuesday 6 October.

24.01.2022 Around Our School... Throughout Term 3, the Year 5 students have been involved in a literature based unit on Dragons. This has been inspired by the text and movie of "How To Train Your Dragon". Amongst many activities and across various curriculum areas, we have made our own dragons from papier mache. As a celebration of our learning today, we hosted a Dragon Expo, watched The Never-ending Story and enjoyed a Dragon Pizza Party. We had so much fun!

24.01.2022 Please read the latest Contact Tracing alert regarding our local area...

Marcie K (1O), Eva B (2W), Diya K (3W), Thomas R (3W), Claire M (4W), Charlize C (4W), Sedona K (5B), Skye W (5O), John K (6B), Amelia B (6W). Please enjoy the videos in following posts. Thank you to Lorraine Hillas for organising this unique opportunity.

18.01.2022 While Mother's Day was earlier in the year, unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity to take the time to honour them and highlight how special they are to us. Therefore, this week's assembly will not only be about our fathers but also our mothers. 5 Orange presented an Assembly to us on Thursday about parents and carers and the special part they play in our lives. While Sunday may be Father's Day, if you didn't celebrate Mother's Day properly, turn it into a Parents' Day and celebrate together.

18.01.2022 Reminder...Please remember to make alternative arrangements for your children for Friday 4 September as it is a Student-free day at school.

15.01.2022 Around Our School... We have some very happy but tired campers returning from Noosa North Shore today. Here are some photos from their wonderful experiences. We are certain they will remember their Year 6 camp fondly.

14.01.2022 As the end of another busy term rolls around, 2 White decided to take some time at Assembly, to remind us of all the things we have done here at St Catherine’s.

13.01.2022 REMINDER.... As you are aware, school photos will be taken tomorrow, Thursday 10 September. WHAT TO WEAR: Students must wear their DAY UNIFORM (NOT sports uniform even if they have HPE).... Students should not wear t-shirts or skivvies underneath their school uniform. Correct shoes and socks must be worn. Bring a comb to tidy hair (photos are taken progressively during the day). SIBLING PHOTOS: Sibling photos will be taken from 7:30am in the Parish Hall. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, parents are asked to drop their children off at the Parish Hall doors (church side). Children will be supervised by the leadership team and teaching staff. If you are unable to drop your children at the hall before school, please remind them to listen for announcements during the day. Office staff will call for siblings to report to the Parish Hall at 2pm (or possibly at lunch time). Please note that the school does not have a record of sibling photo orders so it is important that your children are aware if they need to have one taken. ONLINE ORDERS: LATE FEE Online orders submitted after midnight on Friday 25 September will incur an $18 late fee.

12.01.2022 This week marks National Child Protection Week and 2 Orange have prepared beautiful Assembly to acknowledge this special event. Child protection Week is a reminder of how important it is for us, as educators, to listen to our students. The theme for National Child Protection Week is ‘Putting children first.’, with a focus on the safety and well-being of children. Thank you 2 Orange for reminding us all about the importance of feeling safe and to Recognise, React and Report.

12.01.2022 Around Our School... Safe travels to our Year 6 students as they leave today for their camp. We hope you enjoy yourselves and have fun exploring new personal challenges.

10.01.2022 Around Our School... Year 1 celebrated (albeit belatedly) 100 Days of Learning today. There were many elderly folk around school dressed in their finery. It was a delight to see and enjoy!

08.01.2022 On Friday 6 November, 1 Orange led us in assembly as we officially launched the Annual St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. We will be collecting items for the Christmas Hampers until Wednesday 2 December. We will have flexi-tubs in each of the classrooms ready for donations. If you are able to generously donate items such as things in tins, long-life items, sweet treats and Christmas decorations, that would be greatly appreciated. When you get a chance, you can watch the assembly.

06.01.2022 A few weeks ago, a number of Year 2 students were inspired to do something to help the environment. They decided they would help to tackle the plastic waste problem in our school. Their first step was to create a video to encourage others to pick up their plastic waste and put it in the bin.

06.01.2022 Around Our School... On Tuesday 3rd March continuing our Adopt-a-Cop program, Senior Constable David Keller visited our Year 5 students. It was a good opportunity for students to learn about the equipment worn by police officers and the work that they do within our community.

06.01.2022 On Monday 2 November, 3 Blue led an Assembly about All Saints day which was on Sunday 1st November.

05.01.2022 Around Our School... Busy times in the Music room as we sing our Book-week Song and practice our music reading and playing skills. Recorders, Boom-whackers, Chime-bars and Ukuleles. We have it all.

04.01.2022 NAIDOC Week is a time for all Australians to celebrate the history, diverse culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The theme for this year is Always Was, Always Will Be, acknowledging that our nation’s story didn’t begin with European contact and that the true history of this country dates back thousands of generations. Always Was, Always Will Be recognises that First Nations people have inhabited and cared for this continent for more than 65,000 years. Please watch 4 Orange’s Assembly on NAIDOC Week.

03.01.2022 Remembrance Day On 11 November 1918 at 11am the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. Hence, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month attained a special significance in the post-war years. On Wednesday 11 November, 4 White led our assembly with a focus on Remembrance Day. As with many of our assemblies this year, we recorded it for the rest of our school community to watch.

03.01.2022 Reminder from our St Catherine's C & K regarding Parking Please ensure family members are aware of this information if they are collecting your children. At St Catherine’s Kindergarten, we have limited car parks to accommodate all our kindergarten families at drop-off and pick-up time. Therefore we ask that school families do not use the circular car park located at the Nano Nagle Centre between the hours of 8:30am-9:15am and 2:30pm-3:15pm as stated on the signs in this ...space. Kindy families who have older children enrolled at St Catherine’s Primary School are requested not to remain in the car park waiting for the School day to finish. Spaces are required for Kindy families who need to park and collect their child from Kindy and then travel to other schools to collect other family members. Thank you for your co-operation and support.

01.01.2022 Reminder for tomorrow night's meeting...

01.01.2022 As we draw towards the end of the year, our Preps had a special message to tell us at Assembly.

01.01.2022 Last Friday at assembly, 1 Blue led us in a beautiful reflection about the important role that our grandparents play in our lives. While we may not be able to visit our grandparents during this time, we can still take the time to honour them and remember how special they are to us. Please view the assembly and what 1 Blue has to say about grandparents.
