24.01.2022 Ms James' class (1JD) and Mrs Brine's class (2B) headed out on an excursion to Goolwa today. They had rostered activities, spent time on the playground and even did some fishing!! About 6 carp were caught, much to the delight of the waiting pelicans, who received a free lunch. What a fabulous day!

24.01.2022 Swimming Week Carnival Day - Postponed to Tuesday 17th November 2020 Due to the cold and miserable weather forecast for Friday, the Swimming Carnival will NOT proceed this Friday 13th November. Apologies for those parents who have made arrangements with work etc to be able to attend, however, our first priority is the wellbeing of the students and to ensure the day is successful.... With the forecast for more cold and damp weather tomorrow, Woodside Pool have offered a reschedule of this day for us to early next week. The Carnival Day will take place on TUESDAY 17TH NOVEMBER (next week) with the expected weather forecast for partly cloudy and 24 degrees in Woodside much better conditions for all involved! A revised schedule of the day will be distributed on Monday. This event will commence from 11am and conclude approx 2pm to ensure the busses return by the end of the school day. Tomorrow will be a normal school day - students are expected at school as per normal. As the dates have now been changed, we will require a new permission form for each student to confirm your consent for bus travel on the revised date. All permissions MUST be received by 2pm Monday 16th November to ensure your child can participate. Apologies for the short notice, we hope next week proves to be more suitable weather for this event. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and support

23.01.2022 Today we observed Remembrance Day with a minutes silence at the Woodside Pool. In the afternoon, the Reception to Year 2’s learnt about the history of Remembrance Day, and the reason why we observe minutes silence at 11 o’clock on the 11th Day of November. We invited Mr Low to read the book ‘Lest we Forget’ and then we finished our gathering with the reading of the Remembrance Oath. Reception to Year 2 classes have made their own poppies and added to our display. Year 1 children have also added a quote to the stems of their Poppies. Lest We Forget

11.01.2022 Great News! We will update with further details soon!

07.01.2022 Over the following days, it will be important to let children and people close to you know, that they are ok and that they have people there for them to support them in addition to looking after yourself. Please be mindful that children may be anxious and be worried about themselves, their family, and friends getting ill with COVID-19. Trusted adults can play an important role in helping children make sense of what they hear in a way that is honest, accurate, and minimizes an...xiety or fear. Below are some recommendations to help adults have conversations with children about COVID-19. Tips for talking to children Remain calm. Remember that children will react to both what you say and how you say it. They will pick up cues from the conversations you have with them and with others. Reassure children that they are safe. Let them know it is okay if they feel upset. Share with them how you deal with your own stress so that they can learn how to cope from you. Make yourself available to listen and to talk. Let children know they can come to you when they have questions. Pay attention to what children see or hear on television, radio, or online. Consider reducing the amount of screen time focused on COVID-19. Too much information on one topic can lead to anxiety. Provide information that is truthful and appropriate for the age and developmental level of the child. Talk to children about how some stories on COVID-19 on the Internet and social media may be based on rumours and inaccurate information. Children may misinterpret what they hear and can be frightened about something they do not understand. Teach children everyday actions to reduce the spread of germs. Remind children to wash their hands frequently. 05.01.2022 NAIDOC Week Year 1’s learnt about NAIDOC week and what is means. We learnt about rituals and ceremonies and the significance of body painting. Did you know that body paint has to be applied by someone else? We also learnt that the painting tells a story. Ms James painted our hands so we could make hand prints and then we added dot designs using colours that could be made from nature.

04.01.2022 NAIDOC Week Activities During the recent Outdoor Classroom Day the R-2 students listened to the story of The Rainbow Serpent and discussed how it formed the land. We created our own rainbow serpent weaving though our stairway to the oval using patterns, colours and indigenous designs.

04.01.2022 At 11 am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare to mark the end of World War One. This conflict had mobilised over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead and as many as one third of these with no grave. On this is day we remember the fallen with a minute’s silence to honour those who lost their lives, not just in WW1 but in all wars and armed conflicts. We will remember them.
