23.01.2022 NSW recorded four new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Two of these cases, linked to the Berala cluster, were first reporte...d yesterday morning, but are included in today’s numbers. Four cases were also recorded in returned travellers in hotel quarantine, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 4,784. There were 26,391 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 22,275. NSW Health urges people especially those in western, south-western Sydney and Wollongong to continue to come forward with even the mildest of symptoms. Every person who gets tested plays an important role in helping to contain the spread of COVID-19. A high-volume drive-through COVID testing clinic is open at Merrylands Park, at the corner of Burnett Street and Merrylands Road, from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week. Anyone who has been identified as a close contact from the BWS Berala should go to this site. Of the four new locally acquired cases to 8pm last night: - Two are linked to the BWS Berala cluster, which now numbers 15. A further case, who attended Woolworths, is likely linked to the Berala cluster and is under investigation. - One is a close contact of previously reported case linked to the Croydon cluster, which now numbers 10. In addition, four cases were acquired overseas and are in hotel quarantine. NSW Health has updated its advice regarding the BSW and Woolworths in Berala as part of our efforts to stop the spread of the virus and understand how transmission has occurred in these two key venues of concern. It is critical that people who visited these venues from 20 December to 31 December are tested for COVID-19 and follow the appropriate advice regarding self-isolation, depending on whether they are a close or casual contact. Those identified as close contacts from BWS and Woolworths in Berala should get tested and isolate for 14 days even if they receive a negative result. Household contacts of close contacts should isolate until the close contact has received a negative result. People identified as casual contacts from these two venues should get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result. Please continue to monitor for symptoms, and if they appear, get tested again. BWS Berala: Sunday, 20 December Close contacts: 12:30pm 2pm Casual contacts: all other times that day Monday, 21 December Casual contacts: all day Tuesday, 22 December Close contacts: 12.45pm 9.15pm Casual contacts: all other times that day Wednesday, 23 December Close contacts: 1:40pm 9.15pm Casual contacts: all other times that day Thursday, 24 December Close contacts: 12:40pm 9:15pm Casual contacts: all other times that day Saturday, 26 December Close contacts: 9.55am 7.15pm Casual contacts: all other times that day Sunday, 27 December Close contacts: 12.40pm 8.15pm Casual contacts: all other times that day Monday, 28 December Close contacts: 9.30am 7.15pm Casual contacts: all other times that day Tuesday, 29 December Close contacts: 1.45pm 9.15pm Casual contacts: all other times that day Wednesday, 30 December Close contacts: 12.45pm 9.15pm Casual contacts: all other times that day Thursday, 31 December Close contacts: 8.30am 3pm Casual contacts: all other times that day Woolworths Berala: Anyone who attended at any time between Sunday, 20 December and Thursday, 31 December should get tested immediately and isolate until a negative result is received. Please continue to monitor for symptoms, and if they appear, get tested again. Everyone is urged to keep checking the NSW Government website for new information as it emerges. The state’s ongoing sewage surveillance program has detected fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19 at two pumping stations in Camellia. These stations take in sewage from the Berala area, including Auburn, Bankstown, Bass Hill, Berala, Camellia, Chester Hill, Chullora, Clyde, Condell Park, Granville, Guildford, Guildford West, Harris Park, Holroyd, Homebush West, Lidcombe, Mays Hill, Merrylands, Merrylands West, Newington, North Paramatta, Old Guildford, Parramatta, Potts Hill, Regents Park, Rookwood, Rosehill, Rydalmere, Sefton, Silverwater, South Granville, South Wentworthville, Strathfield, Sydney Olympic Park, Westmead, Yagoona. Everyone in these areas is asked to monitor for symptoms and get tested and isolate immediately if they appear. There are more than 350 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW, many of which are open seven days a week. To find your nearest clinic visit https://www.nsw.gov.au//how-to-protect-yourself-an/clinics or contact your GP. NSW Health is treating 117 COVID-19 cases, none of whom are in intensive care. 18.01.2022 Changing the guard: new Mayor Karen McKeown Tonight Penrith City Councillors elected the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the next 12 months; and this time it is a ...female pairing. Labor’s Karen McKeown is the Mayor and Liberal Tricia Hitchen is the Deputy Mayor. The pairing is the result of a deal made between Labor and Liberal Councillors. Under usual circumstances the Mayor is elected for a two-year period, but this year we were left with a one year term as the Council elections that were meant to be held in September were postponed until September 2021. The two women replace the previous pair up of Liberal Ross Fowler (Mayor) and Karen McKeown as Deputy Mayor.

18.01.2022 MASKS MANDATORY IN MANY INDOOR VENUES FROM MIDNIGHT Greater Sydney includes St Clair & Erskine Park STATEMENT FROM GLADYS BEREJIKLIAN... Whilst these measures do not apply to areas outside Greater Sydney (including Wollongong, Central Coast and Blue Mountains), we urge all residents and visitors across the State to practise COVID safe behaviours and get tested even if symptoms are mild. We thank the community for their patience and understanding. Our priority is always to protect the health and safety of the community.

18.01.2022 Have your say about upgrades to St Clair’s dog park Penrith City Council is inviting residents in the St Clair area to have their say in a survey about upgrades scheduled for St Clair’s off-leash dog park. The dog park is receiving an upgrade in 2021 as part of Council’s commitment to providing safe and usable spaces for residents and their dogs at Penrith’s off-leash dog parks, and Council wants to hear from users about what they’d like to see. ... Penrith Mayor Karen McKeown OAM encouraged users of the dog park to take part in the survey and to find out what’s proposed to be upgraded at the park. The park’s upgrades are all about providing separation between large and small dogs with the installation of a new fence, improving the opportunity for dogs to exercise and socialise without anxiety, Cr McKeown said. We will also be increasing seating and shade for dog owners. The survey is open for two weeks from Friday 27 November to Friday 11 December 2020. Have your say and complete the survey at yoursaypenrith.com.a

17.01.2022 NSW has reported eight cases of locally transmitted COVID 19 through to 8pm last night. Three of these cases were announced to the public yesterday, and are inc...luded in today’s numbers. Four cases in overseas travellers in hotel quarantine were diagnosed in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 4,072. There were 12,498 tests reported in the 24-hour reporting period, compared with 5,970 in the previous 24 hours. Of the twelve new cases to 8pm last night: Four are returned overseas travellers in hotel quarantine One is locally acquired and under investigation Seven are locally acquired and linked to a known case or cluster One new case reported today was locally acquired, is likely to have been infected some days ago and appears linked to the Liverpool Hospital Dialysis cluster. Four more cases are close contacts of this case. One new case is locally acquired whose source is under investigation. The remaining two cases today are close contacts of this case. A known case travelled on a train on Saturday, 3 October that left Parramatta station at 7:13pm and arrived at Milsons Point station at 8:04pm. Anyone who caught the train at this time is considered a casual contact and must monitor for symptoms and get tested immediately if they develop. After testing, they must remain in isolation until a negative test result is received. Locations linked to known cases, advice on testing and isolation, and areas identified for increased testing can be found here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates. Testing numbers have dropped recently, which is a concern. NSW Health renews its call for increased testing across Sydney, even if you have the mildest of symptoms like a runny nose or scratchy throat, cough, fever or other symptoms that could be COVID-19. This is especially important for people across West and South West Sydney with these new cases and after the state’s sewage surveillance program detected fragments of the virus at the North Richmond and West Camden treatment plants. COVID-19 testing clinics can be found here: https://www.nsw.gov.au//how-to-protect-yourself-an/clinics, or call your GP. NSW Health is treating 51 COVID-19 cases, including one in intensive care, who does not require ventilation. Eighty per cent of cases being treated by NSW Health are in non-acute, out-of-hospital care. COVID-19 may be continuing to circulate in the community and we must all be vigilant. To help stop the spread of COVID-19: - If you are unwell, get tested and isolate right away don’t delay. - Wash your hands regularly. Take hand sanitiser with you when you go out. - Keep your distance. Leave 1.5 metres between yourself and others. - Wear a mask when using public transport, rideshares and taxis, and in shops, places of worship and other places where you can’t physically distance. When taking taxis or rideshares, commuters should also sit in the back. Locations linked to known cases, advice on testing and isolation, and areas identified for increased testing can be found here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates.

14.01.2022 Critical investigation launched following man’s death St Marys A critical incident investigation has been launched following the death of a man in St Marys. Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command were patrolling the St Marys area when they approached a man on Acacia Avenue, shortly before 10.30am today (Wednesday 23 December 2020).... The 20-year-old man ran from the officers into a nearby backyard where he reportedly threatened police. Initial reports suggest, a struggle ensued during which the man accessed one of the officer’s firearms before a second officer shot the man in the abdomen. Despite the efforts of police and NSW Ambulance paramedics, he died at the scene. One of the officers, a male senior constable, was also treated at the scene after being bitten by a dog during the incident. He has since been taken to hospital for further treatment. A critical incident team from Homicide Squad will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation will be subject to an independent review. All information will be provided to the Coroner who will determine the cause of death and make any findings about the events leading to the man’s death. No further details are available at this time

12.01.2022 RESTRICTIONS EASED IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS More people will be allowed to gather both at home and in outdoor public spaces, and smaller hospitality venues can increase their capacity under a major easing of COVID-19 restrictions. Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the people of NSW have demonstrated that by working together and following COVID-Safe protocols restrictions can safely be eased.... The community has done an incredible job this year under trying circumstances, Ms Berejiklian said. I hope these changes provide a boost to the hospitality industry and give people certainty in how they can celebrate safely with family, friends and colleagues over the Christmas and New Year period. From Tuesday, 1 December: Up to 50 people (currently 20) can visit a residence as long as an outdoor space is being utilised, however, it’s recommended no more than 30 people gather if the residence has no outdoor area. Up to 50 people can gather outdoors in a public space (currently 30). Small hospitality venues (up to 200 square metres in size) will be allowed to have one person per two square metres indoors. From Monday, 14 December: The Public Health Order requiring employers to allow employees to work from home (where it is reasonably practicable to do so) will be repealed. As employees return to the office, workplaces are encouraged to have COVID-Safe plans. Employers are encouraged to stagger staff starting and finishing times to reduce the impact on public transport. Customers using public transport are strongly encouraged to wear a mask. Deputy Premier John Barilaro said the increased capacity at smaller hospitality venues would make a big difference to cafés and small restaurants across the State. We won’t let this be the COVID that stole Christmas. An increase for gatherings at home and a return of the 2m2 rule for smaller hospitality venues, I hope, will be welcome news across the State. We want the people of NSW to have a proper festive season, they deserve it, Mr Barilaro said. Health Minister Brad Hazzard said the NSW Government has worked closely with the experts at NSW Health to ease restrictions safely for end of year celebrations. It’s important we work together to keep the community safe; so where possible gather together outdoors, get tested if you have any symptoms and if you are elderly or have underlying health issues you should be particularly cautious, Mr Hazzard said. NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said as we head into the festive season there would be more people moving around the community, which means it is vital people continue to come forward for testing. More people will be hosting gatherings in their homes, going out for lunches and dinners and socialising so if you have any COVID-19 symptoms, however mild, please come forward for testing, Dr Chant said.
