12.01.2022 Reminder: Restart your Devices Regularly. Can't get eMails? Printer won't print? Everything but laptop has internet access? Just a few minutes to read, that could potentially save you hours of down-time. Please Share... There is a common misconception, that smartphones, PC’s, laptops, iPads and Modem/Routers don’t need to be restarted unless you have to. Let’s look at it this way. You need a goodnight’s sleep, to function the next day. So, let’s say you deprived yourself of days or weeks of proper sleep, you would not be feeling too energetic and certainly making errors throughout your day. Not to mention, you are still processing previous days tasks and worries over and over in your head, without any rest from them. (Ohand making you unpleasant to get along with) In the same way, every device, like your smartphone, PC, laptop, tablet PC & Modem/Router, need to be restarted regularly (Daily preferred, but every few days okay). This restart process clears each devices memory space from all the work its been doing and freshens the device. Making it ready for another days work, without other previous days tasks and errors, slowing down your device and making it unpleasant to use. Should you also restart your Modem/Router everyday?, is a common question that I am asked. My answer is yes. There are 2 main reasons for this. Firstly, in order for all our devices sharing internet, printers and other WiFi Devices, to be able to talk to one another, in our offices and home networks, without connectivity issues occurring, you would need to restart your modem/router first, then all other devices thereafter. Secondly, new kinds of Malicious threats have appeared, targeting your home and business Modem/Routers. And it’s not just certain brands either. Threats include taking control of your devices to launch massive attacks on servers and other internet connected devices, collecting your passwords, files and data, hijacking your internet, and potentially taking control of home’s & work’s modem/router, blocking it forever, thus killing your Wi-Fi. Remedy..you just have to reboot your router regularly. Unplug your modem/router, wait 10-15 seconds or so, plug it back in, and you’re good to go. Conclusion. Restart all your devices regularly (it only takes a few minutes), so that they perform the tasks at their optimum speed, they are designed to do for you. Use the following Order of restarting (waiting for each one to come back on, before you restart the next device): (1)Modem/Router, (2)Printers, then all (3)PC’s, laptops, Tablet & of course Smartphones. This will only lead to a phishing site that you will mistakenly enter in your credentials, which will give over your credentials to the hackers to take over your account. 09.01.2022 ACTIV8 NBN & Satellite NBN Customers Many of you are aware of outages across Australia. Activ8 have 4 BNG type routers, 1 has failed, as they move services onto the 3 there can be issues, therefore until completely fixed services could go on and offline.... Clearly more technical than that, I understand a message has been put on Facebook. Will update you all once services are back to normal, I understand that it should have been only a few hours, but reports from customers are that they are still unable to access internet. You may need to enable your Mobile phone hotspot and plug in via USB cable to your PC or Mobile Hotspot, until issues are rectified
