25.01.2022 Officially guitar number 5. This took me the better part of a year to complete. Omitted fret dots and a Borderless two tone sunburst on a Rosewood & Sitka D28 make for a super clean hard cutting look. Mixed with the rear shifted X bracing this monster has the dry and crisp sound you'd expect from a hand built dreadnought. The Black beauty. The Dark horse of the family . I love everything about this guitar.

23.01.2022 Loving the sound of this D-28. That reflection ain’t bad either! https://www.steadinstruments.com

19.01.2022 As promised. Here’s a little demo of my latest guitar. Let me know what you think!

16.01.2022 Allow me to introduce SD28001. Cute name eh? Proudly sittin' amoungst the overgrown vines in my yard. This is my take on an early 1940s spec Martin D-28. This has a Sitka top, Rosewood back and sides, Mahogany neck, Ebony fingerboard and bridge. 25.5 full scale string length, 1-11/16 bone nut (43mm) and a 40s style through slot bone bridge piece.... Read shifted, fully carved sitka bracing, reclaimed Ivory inlays, heel cap and end cap. Sadly I dont have the time to video this beauty. However, if you're on your way to mountaingrass this weekend I will be bringing this and the prototype along for some pickin' grinin' fun times. This and its older brother are absolute banjo killers. I love the sound of both of them. Vids soon! -Gage

09.01.2022 Alright alright alright. Gearing up for the next stage! A big thank you to the clients that we've had in the past months, they have been extremely patient with us while we have been smoothing out all the little business bumps. Their understanding has enabled this one small business to get through this time of turmoil, and with any luck, come out the other side.... For all those doing it rough, our thoughts are with you. Particularly our friends in VIC, we hope you are all well. To everyone, please stay safe! In the coming months, we will be ramping things up here at Stead Instruments. Our website is currently down for some construction but we reckon you will love the end result so watch this space! In the meantime, here are the latest two that are very near completion: A custom D28 and the first ever Stead D18 with some Tony Rice flair. These are gonna be some mean mothers! What would be your pick?

07.01.2022 For those who haven't seen our Duo Miss Ohio. Here's us taking the latest D28 for a fang! More to follow. Let us know what you think. :-)

06.01.2022 It's fun to try new things. ,

04.01.2022 After the intensity of the holiday period, balancing the work of several projects at the one time I have finally got another guitar off the bench and ready for sale! I love this one, the latest D28. I am getting better at the finishing, still nowhere near perfect but I kind of like that. This guitar has sustain for days and will also age beautifully. I can’t wait to see it in 20 years time with the finish all crackly and having a story to tell. If you like what you see I will have a video of this one up soon (this time I promise). If you’re in the Adelaide area and would like to have a pick send me a message and let me know! Please visit https://www.steadinstruments.com/ for more images and information.

03.01.2022 Howdy y'all. Been flirting with some guitar ageing techniques. So far the lacquer checking looks awesome but I want MORE. On a scale of 0 to Willie Nelson's 'Trigger' how far should we go with this one? I'll leave it up to y'all. I reckon mad max road warrior... with graffiti... and human bones.

01.01.2022 Website is up and running! https://steadluthiery.wixsite.com/mysite Unfortunately wordpress are being annoying and not allowing me to transfer my .com over just yet. Hopefully soon it will have a proper name!... Video comin up next!
