25.01.2022 [ THANK YOU ] Starting a small business is scary growing a small business is also scary, clients that you dont want to disappoint, a reputation that you dont want to tarnish, you really just want everyone to love you and support you. But a part of growing a small business is making decisions and navigating the growth path in a way that keeps everyone happy but also ensures the business is profitable and sustainable. Now these decisions are SCARY.... But the last couple of days have shown me that with the support of our little STEAM community I dont need to be so scared. Since my post on Friday afternoon I have been overwhelmed with the understanding and kind support for me and my little ironing business from this amazing community of beautiful, caring and supportive people. This little business helps put food on our table, a roof over our head and pay our bills, but more then that this little business and my clients fill my cup to overflowing with happiness, advice and above all support and I cant thank you all enough. My heart is happy and I have butterflies in my tummy what more could a small business owner ask for .

22.01.2022 [ A LITTLE REMINDER ] So this week has been a little crazy busy (super super exciting) but I am still just trying to get my head around this new level of busy and I guess after a week off it can be a little bit of a shock to the system. As much as I am soooo grateful, excited and to be honest just in awe of the journey this little business has me on sometimes you just need that one person to give you a little reminder of why your life has suddenly become a little crazy and th...at it is a good thing, an AMAZING thing in fact. This week I was reminded how blessed I am to have good friends who straighten me up if I get a little wonky, remind me to keep putting one foot in front of the other and tell me on a regular basis how capable I am of achieving anything if I put my heart to it and get myself organised. One of these such friends knocked on my door this week with hot coffee, yummy things to eat and the most amazing cherries all from One Little Farm - flowers and produce This friend reminded me during this crazy week that one of the main reasons I am doing all of this, building this wonderful little business is so that I have the flexibility to fill my hours in a way that works for me. Spending time with family and friends is so so important for my sanity, it keeps my world going round. To be able to have coffee, cake and time with my girlfriends in my ironing room while I am still ironing is one of the many reasons I LOVE my little business so much, it balances out my work life balance in a way that works for me, it just works and makes my heart happy.

17.01.2022 [ UPDATE ] Yesterday afternoon I received a message from one of my lovely clients checking in to see if I was ok as I have been a little quiet on this page the last few weeks. This little message made my heart sing, sing with happiness to know I have such amazing kind hearted clients and we are creating a beautiful caring little community It also did make me realise that things may appear quiet on social media but behind the scenes things are a little crazy, we have a lot ...going on and I feel this is a great time for a little update. On the ironing front my little business is continuing to grow each week which is super exciting and I am looking into booking an appointment with a Business Consultant to explore different avenues on how best to grow and scale my business. Yes this makes my tummy nervous but I have got my big girl pants pulled on tight, lots of support and encouragement from clients, family & friends and am ready to jump in with both feet. I have been working hard behind the scenes getting organised and perfecting some little procedures to improve how everything works and fits together including my cute little clipboards and worksheets for each basket of ironing which keep me organised and on track. As my little business has continued to grow week to week and month to month we have had to start seriously looking at out current living/working arrangements and how this is going to work moving forward and taking on more and more clients which I am very eager to do. So for the last couple of months I have been spending every spare moment trying to find us a bigger house to rent. Something which can comfortably accomodate our family as well as the ironing and will allow the ironing to have its own dedicated space/rooms in our home and the ability for us to shut up shop at the end of each day and enjoy our home as just that a home, not a work space as well. My search for a new house so far has been unsuccessful as I am sure you can imagine we have a number of boxes which we need to tick to make the new place work but I am confident that the perfect home for us is just around the corner and I will be sure to share the exciting news as soon as I find it. I have a couple of other little projects underway which I will share over the coming week but for now I am off to do yoga followed by a cup of tea and catch up with a dear friend and get ready for another great week. 17.01.2022 [ TO BE ORGANISED ] I love to be super organised, to be honest it is my coping mechanism for when life gets crazy, I get organised, I can just see my boys rolling their eyes haha, here she goes again tidy, organise, tidy. For the last few years I have used Goggle Calendar to organise my days which has really come into its own when I started this little business and had to get super organised. But when it comes to To Do Lists and notes I have never been able to settle on a... digital version that I love and keep reverting back to trusty sticky notes. I LOVE sticky notes they are easy, convenient and I can take them with me. But the one thing I have never loved about them is trying to decide where to stick them on my desk doesn't work as dusting and cleaning is a pain and the side of my computer screen looks ugly. So I have been trying a few different sticky note locations and think I have finally found a solution. A simple, yet pretty, manilla folder to stick all my sticky notes on, easy to move when cleaning and pretty sitting on my desk, WIN WIN. Do you love sticky notes? I would love to hear how you use them and what is your favourite brand as I am always looking for new pretty notes to add to my collection.

17.01.2022 [ SOMETHING EXCITING TO START THE NEW YEAR - REFRESH ] 2021 is here and with it comes our new REFRESH Spray REFRESH has been developed to remove soft wrinkles and crumpling from clothes that have been hanging in your wardrobe and are no longer looking as freshly ironed as when you first hung them. It is also perfect for travelling and removing that suitcase look from clothes.... Some of you may know that REFRESH has actually been in the pipeline for a few months now and some of you might have even been lucky enough to be a part of our testing group back in October. We received some AMAZING feedback from members of our testing group and development of REFRESH has been full steam ahead ever since with just a small packaging hiccup along the way, more about that later. Life can’t always be smooth sailing, hiccups apparently make life interesting and to be honest are opportunities to learn and learn we most certainly are. Be sure to check back in for more updates on REFRESH over the coming weeks as we get closer and closer to the finished product and a release date.

15.01.2022 [ MEET JO FROM DONUT KING ] I think sometimes people forget that franchise owners are small local business owners as well, just like the rest of us. Putting one foot in front of the other day after day to put a smile on their customers faces, food on the table for their family and in Jos case yummy donuts in peoples tummies. A visit to Donut King Stockland for coffee, donuts and a chat has been a part of my weekly routine, well forever really. Most Tuesdays for the last 14 y...ears I have been fortunate enough to enjoy donuts and coffee with my grandparents Marge & Ray. Sadly Pop passed away a few years ago now and Nan, at 89, is just a little too tired for weekly coffee dates but the memories I treasure of these times are priceless and all include donuts and the friendly, family like service of Jo, Michael and the team at Donut King Stockland. It is also a great opportunity for a quick catch up with my sister Jess who is the very talented donut decorator and coffee machine wizz, the benefits of having a sister who is a barista is that your coffee is always exactly how you love it The Donut King Team at Stockland have been a part of many families weekly routine, weather a donut to keep the kids quiet while doing the weekly grocery shopping, a takeaway coffee on the way to work or a leisurely catch up with friends (or grandparents) over coffee and donuts, Stocklands wouldnt be the same without donuts and this small local business run my a local family. 15.01.2022 [ A SPECIAL HOUSE GUEST ] The last couple of weeks have been HUGE for us. We have been juggling laundry baskets and ironing from sun up until well after sun down as the last fortnight has been our two biggest weeks since starting this little local business which is so so exciting, I actually find it hard to put into words how grateful I am for this little business of ours and how it has been embraced by so many.... Our beautiful Miss Matilda has also had her boyfriend Archie stay for a week, so in between baskets of ironing there have been lots of puppy cuddles, walks and hanging out with the cutest furry couple ever. When I tell you they are like a little married couple believe me they really are. Archie is the fun loving husband who never really grew up, he loves to chase balls, enjoy gourmet meals and has a little trouble navigating stairs. Miss Matilda is most certainly the bossy wife, rouses her husband when he arrives home as if he has been to the pub, she absolutely loves to be chased around the yard by Archie, just like in their courting days and being a lady she always uses her manners when asking for something even though she is extremely persistent and ensures she gets her own way. We love them both so much and it is always such a highlight when Archie comes to stay. Archie's Mum and Dad even made sure Archie didn't arrive empty handed just like all good house guests, arriving with a beautiful bunch of flowers from Bundaberg Roses

14.01.2022 [ SNAP CHAT FUN ] My boys have introduced me to the fun of Snapchat, I have been having a ball and can't believe it has taken me this long to discover all of these amazing, hilarious things this app can do. I am especially loving the filters that look like I have expertly applied perfect makeup with smooth skin and amazing lashes, oh I wish it was really that easy, oh and to have perfect hair everyday like my little mini me. ... I am loving it so much I have even decided, much to their horror, to send them a good morning motivational snap each morning just to brighten their day and help them leap out of bed with enthusiasm. I do love my little ironing business though and am so excited to have meet a few new clients the last couple of weeks and be able to help them and their family stay on top of their iroing basket.

14.01.2022 I had forgotten how beautiful Burnett Heads is. After many years of driving out here three days a week for our boys to go to Kindy many many years ago and besides the occasional visit to the great skate bowl they have out here I think I have neglected visiting this beautiful little seaside community. So I am so excited to be doing our very first fortnightly pick up this morning and having the opportunity to pop out here every fortnight and enjoy this beautiful place once again.

12.01.2022 [ CUTENESS OVERLOAD ] The things I find in ironing baskets I soooo love matchy-matchy outfits probably because my Mum always dressed myself and my two sisters in matching outfits, from dresses to jackets us three girls and also sometimes my best friend matched, I just love it.... 12.01.2022 [ HELP STOP T-SHIRT STRETCH ] Sadly it happens to all of us, you buy the perfect t-shirt, the right fit, colour, length, neckline, all perfect, well perfect until it has been washed a few times. After a few washes your once perfect t-shirt slowly but surely starts to stretch out of shape, it gradually grows shorter and wider, the neckline doesnt fit as nicely and well the side seams arent exactly on the sides anymore but gradually twisting to a shape all of their own. So be...low are a few tips to help stop your once perfect t-shirt from going out of shape. Always read and follow the care instructions label Use a washing machine without a centre agitator Wash using a gentle cycle Wash in cold water Allow clothes to air dry instead of popping them in the dryer Dry on a flat surface instead of hanging on the line Iron using a steam iron or garment steamer to protect the fabric fibres Store t-shirts folded instead of hanging them Does anyone have any other tips or tricks up their sleeve they are happy to share?

12.01.2022 As with starting any new business there are a million things to learn and many many little everyday processes to perfect in order for a business to run smoothly, efficiently and cost effectively. For the last month one of my priorities on my to do list has been to once and for all resolve my continuing ironing board cover delimma. Surely there had to be an ironing board cover out there that would last me more than 2 weeks, yes lovely people my ironing board covers have only... been lasting me two weeks before they are worn through, who would off thought. So after doing a little research and reading reviews I decided to purchase an ironing board cover from Sewroo Products, all of their products are made right here in Australia. I am happy to report that so far my ironing board cover is holding up like a trooper with no signs of wearing out. So happy with my new purchase, thank you Leeanne and the Sewroo team for your advice, friendly customer service and great ironing board cover.

12.01.2022 [ CLIENT REVIEW ] Not all of our ironing clients are weekly or fortnightly regulars some just need occasional help catching up to be able to start from scratch with an empty ironing basket and others are clients for a period of time while they recover from an injury or a hectic time in their lives. I love that we are able to help our clients juggle the day to day chores of life either as a regular client or an every now and then client, either way it makes me happy... to be able to help lighten their load. 09.01.2022 [ WINNING ] This week I was reminded to celebrate wins. We all work so hard to reach milestones and goals that once we achieve them we forget to stop and celebrate the win and instead immediately start focusing on what's next. So after reaching a big milestone this week, today I stopped to celebrate with a dear friend.... We enjoyed a walk along the beautiful foreshore at Bargara in the winter sunshine, yummy treats at Windmill Cafe Bargara and the opportunity to catch up with each other and talk and talk and talk. It most certainly has been a big week and I am so grateful for the opportunity to reflect on how far my little business has come. 09.01.2022 [ TIME FOR A CHAT + SOME FEEDBACK ] This week I had an appointment with a Business Consultant yes I know little me talking about businessy things, fancy schmancy right. Kylie from @InvestedAccounts was AMAZING. I was able to share with her my concerns about making my business sustainable and profitable for the long haul and being able to scale and grow the business in a way that focuses on the follow areas... - looking after our original grandfather clients (which I have renamed Gorgeous Nanna clients) - employing staff so we can continue to grow and take on more clients - continue a personal friendly, family like relationship with each and everyone of our clients All while still being able to support our family and invest back into the business. A big ask I know hence why we need to have a chat and I am eager to hear your feedback. Kylie and her team presented me with some market research of other laundry services in our local area and from this we have been able to establish were I sit amongst my competitors and the differences and similarities in our services. As I truely value this little social media community, as well as my wonderful clients I would love your honest thoughts on a few things which will help in making some big decisions in how we move forward and continue to grow in a way that will ensure we are around for many years to come. 07.01.2022 [ GET THOSE BABIES ON THE LINE ] If you love to air dry your clothes in the sunshine like I do, and who doesn’t when we live in beautiful sunny Queensland, then getting those babies on the line as soon as possible is key. Not only will you save money on electricity and reduce your carbon footprint but your clothes will smell fresher and last longer. To help further reduce wrinkles give each item a good shake before hanging on the line, the less wrinkles set in the fabric when drying the better the end result will be once ironed

03.01.2022 [ LOOKING A LITLLE DIFFERENT ] So the next time you pop in to drop of your basket or I knock on your front door to deliver your ironing you might notice something a little different about me. I am now the proud wearer of some shiny, sparkly, fashionable crystal eyewear thanks to the beautiful people at The Optical Superstore Bundaberg , honestly these guys are just amazing, so so helpful.... It has been 15 years since I last wore glasses after deciding to have eye surgery to correct my vision in 2006, even now I will only need to wear them for reading and computer work unlike 15 years ago when I was wearing them full-time. To be honest I am actually in love with them, glasses have come along way in the last 15 years especially for us people who have narrow faces and could only ever select from the kids range . These new sparkly facial accessories not only make me look more intelligent, hold my hair out of my face when not in use they also help hide my wrinkles hehe. I am on a winner here people

02.01.2022 [ MY OFFICE ] Settling into a new home takes time, time to make the space your own and ensure working spaces are not only functional but also pleasant to spend time in. This weekend I spent some time on my home office space, getting organised and making it feel homely and enjoyable as I spend a lot of time sitting at this desk working on my laptop. So with the addition of a beautiful lush plant from my Mum's garden and some lovely gifts from friends my office space now feels like my own. My Mum has even agreed I can return the plant, if it is ever feeling unwell, for a little respite and some tender loving care as past experience has taught me I am not the best with plants
