25.01.2022 Throwback Thorsday! The 2014 edition of SA was another monsterous weekend. Headlined by the mighty LORD doing a DUNGEON only set and the BENGAL TIGERS doing their first Sydney show in over 20 years it still remains one of the strongest SA lineups to date. Were you there? \m/

25.01.2022 **announcement time** As we forge our way through very tough times indeed the light at the end of the tunnel just got a little brighter with the addition of the mighty DESECRATOR to Steel Assassins 2020! This is a band that knows how to work a crowd. They last co headlined our fest in 2018 and delivered an absolutely commanding performance. Undoubtably one of Australias leading live acts. Their appearance this year will also serve as their Sydney album launch show for their upcoming latest release. Riffs will be fired and heads will bang. \m/

24.01.2022 **announcement time** After a week laying low whilst the musical world reeled heavily in the wake of the Corona virus cancellation tsunami that hit us all so hard, we now believe we need to get back on track as we are forever hopeful that come November things will return to a form of normal again. So lets please welcome our latest addition to SA 2020: THE LOVING TONGUE. These Adelaide Hard Rockers havent been to Sydney since 2012! Their last show here was actually the very f...irst Steel Assassins where they rocked the hell out of the old Sando in Newtown. THE LOVING TONGUE conjure up sounds of old with their RAINBOW/DIO/PURPLE/ZEPPELIN stylings. They are a band that fondly carries the oldschool torch. 21.01.2022 Once again Maniacs wed just like to apologise over the long silences on this page and lack of recent announcements. Like every other fest, band or venue we are still negotiating the current climate and day by day getting a stronger idea of how we will be affected by the global issue and how to move forward. We still have high hopes and good feelings that SA 2020 will take place in some way, shape or form come November but it may not be to our original design. Regardless we j...ust wanted to check in and assure you that the Wheels of Steel are still turning. We will report more as we have it. 21.01.2022 Wrapping it all up we come to last years installment. Steel Assassins 2019 faced the most obstacles of any previous year from venue change to the usual band cancellations and even losing a headliner (WITCHSKULL) a mere couple of hours before they were to take the stage. It was a very taxing year but after the smoke settled it was one of the very best we have had. The new venue Bridge Hotel gave the fest a brand new flavour and we all embraced the positive change. We finally m...anaged to get the mighty BLACK MAJESTY onboard to coheadline and our very special international guests were RIVERGE from Japan. The boys ended up playing our first ever Thurs warm up show and twice at the fest itself. We also had the legendary voice of MORTAL SIN Mat Maurer drop on in to perform a very special mini set of 3 MS tunes with the HIDDEN INTENT guys. Goosebump moment indeed. Massive year! \m/ See more

Only 1 ep to the bands name but they have been making solid noise nationwide and demanding your attention with their no nonsense Ha...rd Rock n roll anthems. As always we sift through a mountain of newcomers to try and get the very cream of whats out there to kick off our festival in style and set the bar as high as we can. Another year and another band with a monster future ahead of them will cut this years Metallic ribbon. Please welcome Melbourne Technical Thrash/Death Metallers VEXATION. 14.01.2022 DARKER HALF are a band that has frequented our fest no less than 4 times. A fan favourite and one of our favs too plus always a pleasure to work with. It has saddened us to hear of the passing of ex guitarist Brad Dickson. Our condolences go out to all his friends, fans and family. Thanks for the music and friendship. \m/

12.01.2022 **announcement time** 2nd headliner unleashed!! We are incredibly honoured to deliver to you Metal Maniacs an exclusive performance celebrating the 10 year existence of HELLBRINGER.... This Canberra Thrash attack has infected the worldwide underground over the past decade with several top quality releases culminating in festival and club show appearances in both Europe, Japan and the US to boot. The band captures the mid 80s magic of oldschool SLAYER and POSSESSED in both sound and aesthetics. Oldschool evil Thrash! They have been very quiet over the last couple of years though as the search for the right guitarist still continues after longtime member James Lewis relocated to the US. For this special show though they have enlisted the help of an Aussie oldschool legend in Yuri Ward (ex PSYCHRIST/ARMOURED ANGEL) on the axe. Working the local Adelaide scene regularly, SKYHAMMER are standing up and making themselves a name with their own brand of Melodic Metal with a bit of Prog thrown in. 09.01.2022 Steel Assassins 2018 was the 6th and last year in a row we used The Bald Faced Stag as our home. Bitter sweet memories of this one but change is an inevitable part of life. Finished our residency on an absolute high. LORD and DESECRATOR coheadlined and displayed sets that were worthy of arena sized crowds. Extra special guests that year were TORMENTRESS from Singapore. They won everybody over on that performance and still remain one of the most talked about sets of our whole 8 year history. Girl power x 666! \m/

09.01.2022 Hey there Maniacs, just a quick update from us. The last few days have been insane with the musical world turned upside down from concert and tour cancellations. Social media has been lit up with posts addressing all this from a sea of bands and promoters so we thought it best to hold off our regular lineup addition yesterday as we can imagine everyones heads in the music world are spinning right now. We are 100% unaffected atm and have bands to unveil to you all still but we are just letting things settle a bit before we continue on as normal. In the meantime please support all those who have felt the brunt of this current pandemic. Stay strong, stay Metal and stay tuned as we wont stay silent for long. :) \m/

08.01.2022 **Announcement time** We said wed deliver not 1 but 2 new additions today so here we are true to our word. Would you please welcome Sydney Heavy Acid Metallers SABIRE to Steel Assassins 2020! The last 2 years have been huge for SABIRE. They have released a debut ep worldwide, toured Europe twice (although the 2nd was cut short as the current pandemic kicked in) and amassed a solid following amongst Maniacs everywhere who enjoy Traditional Metal laced with catchy anthems. In ...2019 they played the coveted Keep It True Festival and later that year took part in our very own festival warm up show supporting RIVERGE (Japan) You never know what to expect from a live SABIRE show apart from total madness and come November we have no doubt they will deliver one of the most memorable sets of the weekend. \m/ See more

07.01.2022 **Announcement time** After another break of silence its time to make some noise as we now start to unveil the last 3 bands for this years festival and the first one is an absolute beauty. Melbournes WICKED SMILE is a titanic new Hard Rock band spearheaded by Danny Cecati (ex PEGAZUS & EYEFEAR) on vocals and Steve Janevski (ex BLACK MAJESTY & CYCLONE TRACEY) on guitar. Strong pedigree indeed and their debut ep is very much proof of that. Hooky and Powerful Hard Rock in spades. This will be WICKED SMILEs first ever Sydney appearance and we cannot wait to unleash them upon you all. \m/

07.01.2022 **announcement time** After delivering the deflating news that because of the no international travel situation Canadas WARSENAL will not be appearing this year its time to balance the scales and proudly welcome Power Metal machine NIGHT LEGION to step up and co headline SA 2020! We once again find ourselves being very grateful to hook in yet another high quality act to step up in the absence of another. NIGHT LEGION contain in their Metallic ranks current and ex members o...f DUNGEON, DEATH DEALER and DARKER HALF. Thats some quality pedigree right there. They forge a no bullshit straight up form of Melodic Heavy Metal and have created a big buzz in a relatively short period of time. Their debut album blew the roof off 3 years ago and a follow up will soon be on our doorstep. We look forward to NIGHT LEGION showcasing both tracks from the debut and new material as they truly shine in a headlining spot at SA 2020. 06.01.2022 Ok Maniacs, today we cap off our announcements with the last 2 bands for 2020. First up let us kindly introudce you to Qld Thrash newcomers ODIUS. The last decade has seen a steep rise in Thrash Metal coming out of the northern state with a wave of top notch speedsters stepping up to the plate. Although a few have crumbled over the last couple of years with young guns like ODIUS stepping up to the plate the next wave may have just begun. Speed kills and were ok with that. \m/

05.01.2022 We dont need to state the obvious but its probably sunken in by now to everyone that 2020 is gonna be quite devoid of live shows at least for a decent chunk of it. That said we still remain optimistic that by November normality will be somewhat restored and we dont intend to waver from that stance. Most of us are just taking it one day at a time but we all need some light at the end of the tunnel so lets all hope part of that light is our 9th annual Metalfest. We already ...have a bunch of killer bands announced that is fastly stacking up as one of our strongest billings yet. 03.01.2022 **Announcement time but not in a good way** Im sure it wont come as a big shock to most of you that we have to announce Canadian Thrashers WARSENAL will no longer be part of SA 2020. Both the band and ourselves came to the logical agreement to scratch them from this years festival. With no signs of international travel being lifted on the horizon it didnt make any sense to sit quiet and make this call at the 11th hour. Its far too risky on both our behalves so this is how ...it has to be. Australia has been doing well though amidst this crisis and we still are very confident the fest will happen in some capacity but not with our overseas Canadian guests this year. Regarding FORSAKEN AGE we do hope to look at that a bit later though as NZ to Oz travel bubble has already been talked about by Govts so its still a possibility there. Anyways we apologize to all fans who were excited to see WARSENAL downunder but youre all probably quite used to these changes atm so we hope the understanding is an easy one. We will hopefully get the boys down for a future edition and please know we already have a replacement headliner we will announce this week as well as another addition that should make a few of you quite happy.
