15.01.2022 On Friday last week we proudly celebrated the 2nd birthday of our lovely Stella Bella Children's Centre Since opening, the care we offer in both our special care and main stream units has surpassed all of our expectations. We have thoroughly enjoyed watching the children in both of these areas of our centre thrive, and have made some lovely connections with their families along the way. We are very proud that we’ve been able to offer our unique model of specialised care to se...riously ill children and have provided them with an opportunity to form friendships and develop skills in a lovely, happy place with dedicated and super caring staff. We wouldn’t be able to offer this extremely important service without the careful consideration and understanding of the parents in our mainstream care unit and we thank them all for their extra efforts that help us to protect the fragile little children in our special care unit. We had a great little party with our families and were very excited to have some players from Brumbies Rugby take time out of their busy schedules to come out and have some fun and play with the children to help celebrate. It was so nice to see the smiles on the kids and players faces as they played together, making lots of special memories in the beautiful spaces within the centre. Speaking of beautiful spaces, we are also extremely excited to announce that construction will soon commence on the new playground spaces, that has been made possible through the generous funding provided by our wonderful neighbours at COS and by our awesome friends at Construction Control Thank you to everyone who has kindly supported us all along the way from when we started dreaming of this unique new concept of care to making it a wonderful reality for our children, their families and our staff. 14.01.2022 Things are coming along beautifully at the Stella Bella Children's Centre. We are getting ready for our grand opening in a couple of weeks. We are so very happy and grateful for all of the amazing community support we are getting to transform this centre into a beautiful place for little ones to spend their days playing and being cared for. Huge thanks to Frank at http://www.drouinwoodentoys.com.au who has hand made and personally delivered all of our lovely little wooden fu...rniture and to the fellows from YP Painting and Decorating who have patched up and painted the whole interior of the centre for us. Extra huge thanks too, to Pete Payten and the team from http://www.ccontrol.com.au who are supporting in so many ways, from project managing the whole spruce up and enhancement of the centre, to providing manpower for all the jobs that need doing and all out of the goodness of their hearts. Today we are pottering about unpacking things and making plans while a mural is being painted in the Special Care Unit. The week ahead is going to be busy and exciting so it's nice to have some quiet time here before it all begins xxx

13.01.2022 Our little stars deserve the very best of everything and we are so incredibly grateful to Select Fresh Providores. They visit us every week with the freshest, healthiest produce we could wish for, and it's all donated, with lots of love! The children get to taste so many lovely veggies and fruits and any leftovers we use in meals that we donate to parents with sick little babies in hospital, so we make the most of every delivery! They say it takes a village to raise a child and it takes a very special bunch of villagers to help raise seriously ill children so Thank You to this awesome business, from the bottom of our hearts, for sharing their bounty with us each week

11.01.2022 The children did a bit of harvesting this morning in their garden and a basket of spinach, kale, silver beet, parsley and snow peas was then delivered by some little ones to our lovely cook. They will be enjoying vegetable frittata for afternoon tea today using all the veggies that were picked this morning. Happy days. Grateful for sunshine, gardens, tiny farmers and creative caring cooks!

09.01.2022 It's Feel Good Friday here at the Stella Bella Children's Centre. We've had a lovely week and today we would like share some of the things we are grateful for :) <3 The children in our care <3 This week we had our first day of care for some little babies and children who have chronic illnesses. It was such a joy to have them here and to watch them potter about enjoying the lovely toys and our play areas. It was also really nice to watch their Mums happily leave them in our... care feeling confident that their precious children were in very good hands. Nurse Gemma and our staff made sure all of the children had a lovely day and managed everything beautifully. Our little darling in the mainstream care area has been pottering about having a wonderful time and has enjoyed meeting all of the new children coming through with their parents for tours. We have new little children starting next week and are very excited about welcoming them all into our lovely little Stella Bella Community. <3 Kindness from our community <3 We had some lovely ladies in to visit who belong to a small quilting group and they delivered some gorgeous handmade quilts for the children to use in our centre. The quilts were all made with lots love so we were very lucky to receive them We have now had all of our white goods installed and we are already putting the to good use. Harvey Norman Commercial have donated our fancy washer and dryer, 4 fridges, 2 microwaves and our dishwasher and we can't thank them enough! <3 Donations from our chickens <3 We are very proud to announce that our cute chickens have starting laying eggs for us. It's nice to see that they have settle in well and are feeling happy enough to lay. Our resident chicken expert. Gabby, has helped to make them feel at home and Samantha has been doing some construction work on their house too. <3 Our amazing staff <3 We are so proud of the team at the centre for being so kind and friendly to the children, and to each other. They are handling the variety of tasks and their fussy boss ;) with lots of smiles and dedication, and are a joy to work with everyday. All in all, it's been a great week, so THANK YOU to everyone in our Canberra community who has helped us to bring this wonderful children's centre to life, and for your ongoing support. xxx

04.01.2022 We have so much good news to share with you all after our grand opening of the centre on Thursday. It was a joyous and wonderful occasion and it was so lovely to share it with so many folk who have contributed to bringing it to fruition. Even though it was raining, the children had such a lovely, playful, time and were at the heart of all of the celebrations. 04.01.2022 Such a lovely day here today with two very exciting events taking place :) Firstly, we had two beautiful little girls of the same age spending some fun time together in our special care unit today. Neither of these little ones have been able to spend time going to playgroups and doing other group activities that typical children get to do because their health is so fragile. Being able to come to our centre and play, and do crafts and potter about together, whilst being in a... safe and super hygienic space, with an undercover nurse present, was a special treat for both of them! There may have been some little tears from the mums, and me, to see them so happily playing and it made me so proud that the dream I had to offer this service has actually come true xxx Secondly, all of the children in mainstream area of the centre made their own bread rolls to have with their soup today so we were all very chuffed! We had some very interesting variations in shape but the rolls were warm and delicious and the children thoroughly enjoyed them :) Thank you all for being on this absolutely wonderful journey with us. 02.01.2022 We are very proud to announce the opening of the Stella Bella Children's Centre, an exciting new concept for care and education of young children aged 0-5 years. The centre is operated by the Stella Bella Little Stars Foundation, a non profit organisation in Canberra. Opening in March 2017, in Fyshwick, our centre will be an an inclusive childcare facility offering mainstream childcare rooms, and a specialized respite and occasional care unit for chronically ill (non contagio...us) babies and children. Our unique centre will offer: <3 Long day care in the mainstream rooms and occasional and respite care in the special care unit. <3 A flexible and family centered approach to service delivery encouraging parental input into the unique care requirements for each child. <3 Beautiful, Steiner influenced rooms and gardens to encourage self directed play, learning and adventures in a variety of nature inspired spaces. <3 A holistic approach to care and learning, including the natural and social environment, nutrition and physical health. <3 A multi disciplinary team of staff including early childhood educators and health professionals, with a focus on continual staff skills enhancement. <3 Wholesome, delicious meals and snacks provided by our in house cook, using fresh produce picked from our own gardens. <3 Hospital grade standards in hygiene practices and cross infection prevention. <3 Opportunities for children with complex medical conditions to experience the joys of childhood in a safe, happy and nurturing environment and to provide their caregivers with much needed respite. 02.01.2022 What a BIG day! We started our 3 day working bee today with the amazingly talented folk from Construction Control and their trade partners. Some of the fellow's put in almost 12 hours of hard labour today and all in such good cheer. They weeded, trimmed, mowed, whipper snipped and raked the extensive gardens, built veggie boxes and a chicken coop, filled a giant skip, laid new carpet and sorted out our technology. Our Stella Bella ladies kept the workers fed, unpacked toys... and supplies and cleaned inside. We are so grateful for this wonderful hands on support and so happy to see the centre being transformed into the beautiful space we have planned for the children. Sleep well everyone, day 2 tomorrow!
