25.01.2022 I am honoured to be included in the amazing group of finalists in the ACT for the 2020 Telstra Business Women's Awards. I have no idea who nominated me but it's been an interesting and very valuable learning experience getting to this point and I'm very grateful for the support I have had to get here. I have an amazing team of staff, volunteers, mentors and supporters and without their incredible efforts I would not be able to achieve any of the things that I have up to now... so a HUGE thank you to them all. 25.01.2022 It's so wonderful when we get to see the recipients of our special Little Star Beads program. Our beads provide a precious silver lining for little babies and children during their difficult medical journeys and are very loved by their parents. The worn out, big old steel playground is now gone thanks to the mammoth effort of Lee Tunks (little Stella's uncle) from Man of Steel and some energetic helpers. 22.01.2022 On International Nurses Day we send our love and immense appreciation to all of the amazing nurses who take care of our children (and us) during difficult and frightening times when they are sick in hospital. Nurses are on the front line for every patient and their cleverness, diligence, dedication and care go well beyond their job description. In my many days and very long nights in hospital with my little one, the nurses helped to hold me, and my family, together and thos...e who went the extra mile with a bright smile and little thoughtful acts warmed my heart then, and to this day. The gorgeous handmade cuddly bears in the first photo were made for us with so much love by a mum who lost her own lovely daughter, also named Stella last year, and they are on their way to give some cheer to some very sick littlies this Christmas. A very merry day indeed!

21.01.2022 A very sweet memory came up today on my timeline and I thought I’d share it with you. In 2012 on this date we held our first ever Stella Bella Ball. It was such a wonderful experience from the first idea to the whole event, and the efforts of the amazing folk who made it all happen, warm my heart to this day The funds from that very first ball kickstarted all of the programs we still run today for families with seriously ill children and the event was such a success, and ...so much fun for all, that it has became a much loved annual event in Canberra. Even though we can’t hold our Stella Bella Ball this year, it’s so nice to look back on all of the happy memories and to look forward to late next year when hopefully our ball will be back better than ever Check out this gallery and our others and see if you can find your lovely face in one of the pics! 20.01.2022 Since we started the program of supplying healthy, hearty meals for parents caring for babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Canberra Hospital, we've held regular batch cooking nights with a team of volunteers from Projects Assured, but because of Covid-19 we've had to change the way we do things. The wonderful team at Projects Assured purchased and delivered to us all the ingredients, plus the recipes, and our very own Mel spent many hours in the kitchen putting ...together over 75 meals! How lovely that in these difficult times we've been able to keep this program going. 19.01.2022 This year has been hard on many Canberrans, and in many ways. For Stella Bella it's been a tricky one too but I'm glad that we have navigated it well and have been able to maintain our services to the families we support and add new ones as needed. There have been some great assistance packages and grants on offer to organisations both locally and nationally, and we are grateful to have been able to access some of them, but today I want to say thank you for one of the most t...houghtful gestures we have received. Back in March we received a letter from the landlord of our special children's centre. The ACT Government had graciously decided to waive our rent for the next six months and since then has extended that to the end of this year. Do you know what the nicest thing about that letter was? Apart from the kind and generous offer? We didn't have to do anything at all in return. We didn't have to spend hours and resources wading through a big detailed application and cross our fingers that it might be accepted. The offer was just granted because Andrew Barr and his team knew that we were a little charity doing big things and that this year would be a tough one for us. I know that we aren't the only non profit that has been quietly supported in our town this year, with no fanfare, but I think a big THANK YOU is well deserved. So much good out there in our lovely city

12.01.2022 I can and I cant believe it's been 7 years since we received our formal charity registration. It seems like only yesterday sometimes, but the amazing amount of children and families we have supported since we began is wonderfully heartwarming We have had more than 2000 babies and children enjoy the silver lining of our Tiny and Little Star Beads program, provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in food and petrol vouchers, emergency accommodation, and other essential fin...ancial supports to keep families going through really tough times, quietly helped to support families going through end of life care with their beloved little ones, hosted many fun and free family events and camps to help build resilience and networks for families on similar journeys, and provided over 3 years of loving care, learning & respite for children in our one of a kind Stella Bella Children's Centre In the background of all of those meaningful things is a lot of listening, imagining, planning, creating, engaging, sharing, learning and teaching and that all involves a great group of people. Our children's centre staff, our board members and volunteers, our community supporters, an awesome team of mentors from all types of professions, and everyone who has ever donated a cake for a cake stall, an item for an auction or raffle, bought a ticket to an event, donated some dollars or rolled up their sleeves to help us to bring a new program or event to life I never imagined how big our charity would grow and how far it's branches would reach to support so many and there is so much more to do. I am so proud of our achievements and am so invigorated to do more good in the community in the many more years to come. 12.01.2022 We had an amazingly fun night on Saturday night at our Lockdown Lip Sync Grand Final. Everyone involved got right into the spirit of the event with decorations, dancing, voting and connecting and the Lip Sync entries were all fantastic. Thanks sooo much to everyone who got on board to help us make this unique new event such a success. Extra special thanks to our wonderful and uber fun and professional MCs Cam Sullings and Renee Bogatko from Mix 106.3. 09.01.2022 Ten years ago I lost my darling little daughter and I wanted to create something beautiful in her honour today that could be seen from the stars above. Thanks to my partner, daughters and sister for helping me to bring this wonderful vision to life. 06.01.2022 Would you like to join our lovely team at the Stella Bella Children’s Centre? We are currently in need of a part time cook to join our kitchen team making super healthy and delicious meals and snacks for the children in our care each day. All training is provided, as is a fantastic and very friendly work environment. You must hold, or be able to obtain, a working with vulnerable people card and be available to work Tuesdays and Thursdays. You must also enjoy working around... children and being open to learning new things. Approx 12 hours per week is needed with some extra shifts available at times. 05.01.2022 It was very special to see the children celebrate the winter solstice recently with a lantern walk around the Stella Bella Children's Centre and to the adjoining pine forest. 02.01.2022 Happy Friday! We are grateful for many things this week and hope that you have some things happening in your life to be grateful for too This week...... We’ve been able to supply more meals for parents with sick little bubs in the Canberra Hospital; We’ve helped out a some local families who are struggling to manage while caring for their seriously ill child; We’ve sent out lots of beads for children in our extra special Little Star Beads program; We’ve supported a couple of awesome little children with very complex medical needs to continue on their journey in big school with a trained helper by their side, through our Transition to School program and; We’ve enjoyed the lovely winter weather and had loads of fun and adventures with the children in our beautiful Stella Bella Children's Centre. We are so proud to be working hard through this extra challenging time and super grateful to everyone who helps us to be able to continue doing that. As you may know we are unable to host our Trivia night or our much loved Stella Bella Ball this year, due to Covid restrictions so we are super grateful to have been included in the Hands Across Canberra Recovery Appeal.
