11.01.2022 Its very reassuring to know that the measures we have implemented to ensure our customers safety have been given the big tick of approval by the Raymond Terrace police. The fixed seating at the front of the cafe (used by many whether we are open or not) is being implemented as a waiting area for customers waiting for takeaway food. People known to each other are perfectly entitled to assemble there whilst observing social distancing to those they don't know. The officers completely agreed that people must also take responsibility for themselves. We would be more than happy to discuss any concerns people may have in person. This includes these trying times which see us having to enforce restrictions that thankfully 95% of our visitors are sympathetic to, and to those people we say a HUGE thank you for your understanding. To the other 5% we simply ask that you stay away. This 5% consists of those who assume that the rules don't apply to them, who assume ...that when being told that there may be a wait that they are being victimised, who assume they can sit wherever they please, who assume they can re-arrange furniture to suit themselves, who assume they can simply arrive in large groups with no booking and expect to be seated, who assume that after being told that we unfortunately cannot accommodate them that they can then order take-away and be prioritised over seated guests because "It's take-away". Lots of assumptions are being made to which we sadly have become accustomed but the one assumption we will never tolerate is that you can speak to our staff in an offensive manner. We happily employ young locals who in many cases are experiencing their first job. Our philosophy is to always provide a positive work environment and to give the kids some skills that they can then take into their adult lives for when travelling etc. Any person doing this will be asked to leave immediately.
