21.01.2022 On June 1st we re-opened after a little over 2 months of being closed due to COVID-19. 15.01.2022 Toxic Skincare - does it really exist? There are a lot of skincare brands out there that play on fear. They want you to believe (or dare we say need you to believe) that every other product on the market contains harmful, toxic and dangerous chemicals (ingredients) that will somehow find their way into your bloodstream, cause cancer, may kill you, and so on. There are some outrageous claims being made and it unfortunately usually stems from the all natural (green beauty) ...skincare lines of the world although the cosmeceutical brands arent exempt mind you. We have no issue with the natural alternatives - we use them ourselves. But the marketing behind them has a lot to answer for. In short, there is no such a thing as "toxic skincare". 14.01.2022 We don't usually post before and after photos but we've had a few clients a little sceptical about how effective Laser Hair Removal really is. This before and after should help put your mind at ease... These are the results of a SINGLE Laser Hair Removal session. Both photos taken on the same day - back of each legs - about 4-5 weeks post treatment. The left photo shows a patch of hair (regrowth after 4-5 weeks that we didn't touch with the laser) and clearly highlights the s...ignificant reduction in hair when compared to the surrounding area that was treated with the laser as well as the right photo where no patch was left (the entire leg was treated). Just one more treatment to go and this client probably wont shaving or waxing for perhaps the next 6+ months or more. This is just one example of many highlighting the results that are possible. 13.01.2022 IPL LASER HAIR REMOVAL... there is no such thing! It’s either IPL Hair Removal, or it’s Laser Hair Removal - it can not be IPL Laser Hair Removal. We recently had a chat with a client that was under the impression they were receiving laser hair removal. Not happy with the results or convinced they were getting what they thought they were paying for, they’ve come to us.... During their consultation, we confirmed their suspicions. They were not receiving Laser. IPL and Laser are two very different technologies. Laser handpieces are generally long and skinny with a circular laser beam emitting from the end. The light is visible at all times. IPL/SHR handpieces are quite large/bulky and often shaped a little like an oval/circle. The light source is long, rectangular and not always visible until the flash occurs. Lasers are monochromatic - they emit a single wavelength of highly targeted, concentrated light. It specifically targets the pigment in the hair follicle. Lasers can be configured on the fly to work with particular hair colours and skin tones. They can be safely used on dark skin. IPL is NOT monochromatic - they emit a broad spectrum of light (like a light bulb). This results in only some of the light targeting the hair. They are not safe to use on dark skin. Why does it even matter? Lasers are the gold standard of hair removal. While you may get some results with IPL (or SHR for that matter), it could take substantially longer to achieve. IPL has its place - but marketing it as something it’s not is really poor practice.

13.01.2022 #SaveVicSkinClinics We’ve been patient, we’ve supported the process, we understand that it takes time. That patience, that support and that understanding is fading very quickly. We are absolutely ecstatic that businesses across the state, big and small across all industries, in Metro Melbourne and Regional are opening once again and begin to rebuild.... Unfortunately for us and many like us, reopening is still a struggle. Although we are allowed to open, we are not permitted to remove masks. This is devastating considering upwards of 80% of our services involves treating the face. There is no evidence, no science, no data, and no justification for this restriction. The "science and data" that apparently drives these decisions does not exist in any capacity. All attempts to reach someone for answers have failed. Even the Health Minister when questioned about it on Radio yesterday skipped over the topic almost immediately - giving no indication as to when we can remove them. Gyms are allowed to open and masks are NOT required. Cafes and Restaurants in Regional Vic can have up to 110 people, while Metro can have up to 70. NO masks required. You can hire an escort or get a sensual massage without a mask. You can get a beard trim without a mask. You can get cosmetic injectables on the lips without a mask. Big retail such as Kmart, Big W and JB Hifi are open yet NO contact tracing details are required. This means hundreds (potentially thousands) of people can pass through these stores every day picking up and touching items, trying on clothing, trying out the latest phones and tablets and not a single contact detail is required. But we and many like us can’t perform skin treatments (or even a lip wax for that matter) in a controlled environment, where full contact tracing details are taken, the practitioner wearing a mask at all times and some of the highest level of health and hygiene protocols in place. Premier, we ask that you reopen the professional beauty and aesthetic industry to full capacity. We welcome any DHHS directives to make this happen. We are COVID safe and ready!

12.01.2022 G U T H E A L T H What you eat and drink can have a significant impact on your skin - including how it looks and feels. The gut-skin connection is something weve been practising for years and its great to see that many more clinics are starting to adopt the practice.... If youre experiencing skin concerns such as breakouts or acne, or even just want to improve the overall look and feel of your skin, the first place to start without spending a single dollar or stepping foot inside a skin clinic is to take a good look at what youre eating and drinking. Small changes can make a significant difference. For example (some tips) Fill up on fibre rich foods like fresh vegetables, fruits, beans and whole grains. Increase intake of EFAs (essential fatty acids) either by eating fatty fish like salmon and/or by supplementing with high quality fish oils like Nordic Naturals. If youre drinking a can of Coke or other soft drink everyday, cut it back to one every two days. If youre having 2 coffees a day, try having just one. If youre only drinking 1 litre of water a day, aim for 2. Reduce overall sugar intake. Be mindful of added sugar in things like yogurts, sauces and even cereals. 09.01.2022 B O D Y A C N E Acne can be one of the most challenging skin conditions to treat because so many things can contribute to it. It’s also a skin condition that can develop on other parts of the body such as the chest and back. Both women and men may experience this. It will often start in the early teens and continue through to the early 20’s. For most it will be mild and relatively easy to manage and treat but for others it can be severe and lead to further complications such... as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and scarring - both of which require a different line of treatment to resolve. Depending on the severity of those complications, deep peels and ablative laser/laser resurfacing may be your only options. This coming Sunday the government is set to announce all the information necessary to ensure we can "definitely" reopen and under what conditions. There will most likely be caveats!... Assuming all goes to plan, we will be reopening on Monday 14th of September at 10am. We have to wait until that is officially announced though. It may change, it may not - we just don't know. No one knows. Until we have this information, we don't want to take bookings in case we need to reschedule them. This will be an inconvenience for everyone. 05.01.2022 Since yesterday’s announcement by the government we've received many questions about when we are reopening. There is both good and bad news - so let us explain. Effective from Monday 14th, the state moves from the current Stages strategy and into the newly developed Roadmap strategy - which is essentially a number of Steps that will see our state reach a COVID Normal. THE GOOD NEWS... Beauty/personal care will now fall into line with Hairdressers at Step 3 of the Roadmap. This means that as of next week - assuming case numbers continue to fall and remain that way - we could be in a position to re-open. We will no longer need to wait until November 23rd as announced a week ago. THE BAD NEWS Unfortunately, even once you enter the treatment room and it’s just you and the clinician, you are not permitted to remove your mask. This means no facials, no peels, no micro needling, no laser genesis, no LED light therapy and so on. So while it’s great news for the industry as a whole, our business and many like ours continue to remain ‘heavily’ disadvantaged. While we do offer other services, these are but a small part of what we do. WE WILL STILL OPEN? Yes! We will still open and are definitely looking forward to seeing our wonderful clients that do receive other treatments. Having said that, the days/hours we open will be reduced - some days we may not open at all. As soon as we can reopen - as soon as we have a date - we will definitely let you know.

03.01.2022 M I C R O N E E D L I N G Is deeper better? Does my face need to be covered in blood? The answer to both is a very big NO! In virtually all cases, there is no benefit going any deeper than 0.5mm to 1mm - depending on the target site (concern being treated). This is known as the DEJ (Dermal Epidermal Junction). This is the area in the skin where the Epidermis meets the Dermis, and where all new Epidermal cells are born.... The deeper you go, the more inflammation you create and for no real benefit. The only time going deeper would be beneficial is when working with scarring - in which case we would be supporting you via appropriate per and post care. Skin Needling/Micro needling is another advanced treatment that has been ‘dumbed down’ and is grossly misunderstood and misused. There is much more to it than just stabbing you in the face with a few needles. It’s a treatment that can be performed by anyone, of any skill level, with little or no knowledge of the skin. Just like laser and IPL/SHR, if you’ve got the money to purchase the device, you’re apparently trained and educated enough to use it as well. It's unacceptable, it highlights a complete lack of respect for health, hygiene and safety, and anyone performing such a treatment without such items (at a bare minimum) has a lot to answer for - especially when they refer to themselves as "experienced", "specialists" or "experts". REMEMBER - Micro-needling is NOT regulated (the same as... Laser and IPL/SHR). Anyone of any skill level can perform the treatment with ANY device (good or bad) regardless of training, qualifications or experience. Just because they posted a video or photo on social media of themselves performing the treatment DOES NOT equate to qualified, experienced, or whatever else they might want to call themselves.
