25.01.2022 Health and well-being is as much mental, as physical.... https://www.businessinsider.com/mentally-strong-people-2015

25.01.2022 https://mailchi.mp/a7f1b35ce646/the-death-of-sets-and-reps Some great words (warning.... a couple start with F) from Coach Taylor Simon....

25.01.2022 All areas of our being relate in some way..... thats my piece of introspection for today. Simon.

24.01.2022 I often get asked about stretching before and after exercise, and whether it assists performance. Stretching before a resistance session, for example, has been shown to reduce strength by as much as 15%, during the session. Warmup via activation/mobilisation activities is far more productive. I will post a video soon showing some of these drills. The attached graphic, from my friends at the Functional Training Institute, offers a comparison between stretching and foam rolling..., as well as an explanation of post exercise muscle soreness. If you have any questions in relation to your health and fitness, dont hesitate to reach out to me here, Simon.

23.01.2022 Probably the #1 question PTs get asked..... Ill let James Smith take it from here (spoiler: a little baby f-bomb in this https://www.facebook.com/498919726879648/posts/2907096809395249/?vh=e

23.01.2022 A great core training exercise... for the relatively advanced trainee. The Sunbird row. Kettlebell in left hand, right hand/ left knee on the bench, right leg extended. Looking at the floor to maintain nice neutral spine position. Core and glutes working really hard here to support spine and maintain stability. Do 2 or 3 sets each side and let me know how you got on....... Simon

23.01.2022 Well its true ....

22.01.2022 Nailed it... If there are any exercises that you would like to ask about, or anything to do with your own health and fitness, you can always message me here. Simon... https://www.shape.com/fitne/tips/worst-exercises-equipment

20.01.2022 Most people will have noticed different types of barbells in their local gym... but may have been hesitant to ask what they are for. Heres the low-down.... everything you ever wanted to know, and a bunch of stuff you didnt realise you wanted to know. If you have any questions about health and fitness, message me here, Simon... https://www.vervefitness.com.au//ultimate-barbell-buying-g

20.01.2022 This study has some quite sobering findings. We all get a bit disgruntled when our pants get a bit tighter than usual, but brain diseases totally destroy your quality of life. Cant get a better reason to stay in shape/get in shape than that in my opinion. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/325854.php

16.01.2022 Developing things like power, balance, and strength actually becomes more important as you age. Just because youre over 60, doesnt mean it has to be barbie weights and chairs. Of course, you dont start from this point, but if you are consistent, and persistent, you can get there. You dont reach an age where progress isnt possible....

15.01.2022 Could be an interesting one to keep in mind when people are dawdling in front of you at the shopping centre? Sometimes it feels like you are the only one who actually knows where theyre going.... but maybe they are just unhealthy? Message me here with any of your health and fitness questions Simon. https://www.sciencealert.com/there-s-a-strange-lifelong-lin

14.01.2022 Celebrate the Process When you do something positive, regardless of the outcome, celebrate. It is the process that matters.... Outcomes aren’t always in your control but your actions are. And you will win when you take the right actions every day. This doesn’t mean that you will win every time, but you will win in the long run. And this deserves to be celebrated. Find a way to celebrate. Maybe it’s a movie, or a date, or a dinner out, or something else. The specifics don’t matter. What matters is that you celebrate it. Celebrate the wins, of course, but also celebrate the losses not because they were loses, but because there is a positive to take with every loss. Every action taken towards a goal, even if things didn’t work out quite well, deserve to be celebrated. Jonathan Goodman A bit of wisdom to start the week If you have any questions in relation to your health and fitness, message me here, Simon.

11.01.2022 My phrase of the week.... a shitshow of uselessness....

11.01.2022 This is really good advice. Think of food as fuel for your daily performance. If youre feeling good, youll never get too far off track. Scales are dumb

10.01.2022 Dont underestimate the value of rest and recovery...

09.01.2022 This is the truth, at the end of the day nobody else can do it for you.... https://thepowerofsilence.co/if-youre-not-satisfied-with-y/

08.01.2022 Its gonna be a very different world for the rest of this year Id say.... https://www.ihrsa.org//social-distancing-in-your-health-c/#

08.01.2022 https://www.washingtonpost.com//it-doesnt-matter-if-its-s/ I think we all know deep down, that this is something to be avoided or minimised. Its easy to fall into the trap, with many things in life, of confusing slightly less bad for you with good for you.....

07.01.2022 Pain is an indicator that something needs to be addressed..... pain is a completely different thing to fatigue https://www.instagram.com/p/B7LzgA-BELE/?igshid=m48k6gt9l7fe

06.01.2022 Procrastination is a growth industry. All of us do it sometimes. Some of us do it so often we may as well include "waiting" as a business skill on our LinkedIn profile. So why do we procrastinate? I think it’s because of the scary stories and fairy tales we create in our minds.... Scary story: "If I fail, I’ll be hurt and embarrassed and people will think less of me." Fairy tale: "If I wait until the absolute perfect conditions present themselves, I have a much greater chance of success, and everything I want will happen with less effort and fewer challenges." There’s a kernel of truth in both examples. Will you feel bad about yourself if you try something and it doesn’t work? Probably. I certainly have. Will people think less of you? Maybe, although those aren’t the kind of people whose opinion you should care about anyway. Is it sometimes better to wait until conditions are better than they are right now? Sure. If you’re going through a bitter divorce or battling a serious illness, that’s probably not when you want to launch a new business, start a new diet, or train for an Ironman. But most of the time, you’re simply waiting for things to "calm down" or for your life to become "less hectic." The truth is, you’ll always be a little scared, and there’ll never be a perfect moment. And deep down, you know it. Procrastination is the arrogant assumption that life owes you another opportunity to do what you could’ve done already if you hadn’t believed those scary stories and fairy tales. By REN JONES Can anybody say truthfully, that they’ve never been guilty of putting things off, waiting for the mythical perfect time that doesn’t exist? Not me....

06.01.2022 Thanks to Coach Gary Wagner for this one

04.01.2022 This interested me, because I personally have pretty tight hamstrings. Stretching does not seem to be making a lot of difference... so Im going to give this a go ....my own little research project https://redefiningstrength.com/the-real-reason-your-hamstr/

02.01.2022 Ready to throw some bombs at the Level 2 Boxing certification... P.S my hand wrapping needs work, but my hands are still intact, so.....

02.01.2022 We all know this, dont we? http://time.com/4803697/bodybuilding-strength-training/

02.01.2022 With depression, anxiety, disconnectedness, and an inability to communicate with other humans (five minutes on social media will confirm this) generally at ridiculously high levels..... the question is why? Now Im not suggesting that there is no place for a dash of mindless entertainment, but when we suggest after watching one series, here are eight others to follow on with...... are we just outsourcing our enjoyment? Is this expanding our minds, or shrinking it? What happening to reading to learn? Communicating and making human connections? Learning a new skill? Physical activity (the most under utilised anti-depressant ever)? In many ways humans have never had access to so much knowledge, but in other ways theyve never been stupider...... Sorry for the rant (not sorry).... https://www.businessinsider.com.au/tv-shows-like-netflix-th

02.01.2022 I thought this was a really thought-provoking read. The article is obviously written with the USA in mind, but I have no doubt that the rest of the developed world is heading down the same path. Agree or disagree..... give me your thoughts. https://www.singletracks.com//over-a-beer-stop-asking-fo/

01.01.2022 A pretty simple explanation....
