25.01.2022 Happening this Thursday. Come along with you pets and join in the interactive web show on Zoom!

25.01.2022 "Why can’t every child and family have enough money to pay for food? We know children develop best in stable and secure family environments, within families protected against poverty safe from job losses and housing stress. Families should never be forced to choose what basic needs they can afford each week. But this is the reality facing 1 million children and their families if income support payments are cut. We can stop this. ACOSS and Raise the Rate have launched a holiday card campaign to call on our political leaders to deliver a permanent and adequate increase to income support before Christmas so families can cover the basics. Show your support by sending a holiday card today."

25.01.2022 Thanks to RA for acknowledging National Stepfamilies Day!

24.01.2022 Shout out to all our Step and blended Dads! We think you awesome! Enjoy your special day tomorrow

22.01.2022 To acknowledge NAIDOC Week 2020 we wanted to share this acknowledgement song, along with lyrics, which fits perfectly with the theme Always Was, Always Will Be. The song is performed by Amanda Testro and written by Sharon Hughes. An Acknowledgement of Country is a way of paying respect to the Traditional Custodians, the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Peoples, on whose land we work and play. There are many ways to Acknowledgement Country. This version, encompassing a connecting between your body and the earth, uses a contemporary song line approach that has travelled far and wide over time. #NAIDOC #NAIDOWeek #NAIDOC2020

21.01.2022 This week is @NAIDOC week. drummond street recognises the significant impacts of this history and the fundamental importance of cultural traditions, beliefs and connection to country and land for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people, families and their communities. We recognise Aboriginal culture, community connection, and self-determination are critical protective factors for wellbeing. We therefore are committed to focus on achieving health (including life expectan...cy) and education equality and responding appropriately to the welfare needs of Aboriginal children and families. This requires our efforts to urgently address disadvantage, including targeting the social determinants of poor health and wellbeing outcomes, and intergenerational experiences of trauma and to do this in a collective and respectful ways.
