20.01.2022 Morning everyone! I hope you’re all well and surviving stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne! I’m fascinated with all the different ways people are finding to communicate with each other during these challenging times. It’s certainly been heartwarming to hear the efforts people are going to to create communication inclusive environments Just a quick update - I’m currently providing Telehealth sessions ONLY during this 6 week period. I strongly believe in keeping our community suppo...rted but also SAFE during these tricky times. If you need speech and language support, please don’t hesitate to message the page or give me a call directly. I’m still here and only a click away - Steph

18.01.2022 Hey guys! Im Steph - Im a speech pathologist! I thought Id share a little bit about myself and about speechies in general (yes - we actually call ourselves... speechies - awkward I know!) Firstly, you may not know what speechies do. We assess, manage, treat and educate people about a whole range of communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan. Our range of practice areas include speech (including motor speech difficulties), language, fluency (think stuttering), voice, AAC (augmented and assisted communication) and swallowing (including feeding and mealtime difficulties). Occasionally we branch out to other related areas such a diagnosing lip/tongue ties too but generally these require additional training and not all speechies specialise in this work. Ive most recently been working for a private practice in Warragul and also in a school environment. I have been primarily working with children with speech and language difficulties, however I have had some experience with literacy difficulties, motor speech disorders and stuttering behaviours. I have a real passion for all things language related. Theres nothing more satisfying for me than to watch a client express their wants and needs and to be able to actively participate in social situations. For me strong communication = social inclusion = happiness! Simple I know On a personal note - Im a mum of 3 gorgeous girls aged 2, 3.5 and 10 which keeps me really busy most of the time! Im also an ex fitness instructor so in my spare time I love attending functional fitness classes to attempt to stay fit. I also love hanging out with my girlfriends and my family whenever I get the chance. So there it is If you have any questions for me feel free to fire away! I'll be running my business out of HealthMint, please feel free to contact me via Stephanie Carvell Speech Pathology for appointments :D Looking forward to meeting you all in person!

11.01.2022 Hi there everyone, I hope you are all safe and well in these uncertain and trying times. Just a quick message to let you know that effective immediately I will be conducting all sessions via Telehealth until further notice. I will be contacting current clients individually to discuss appointments ongoing.... This is not a decision I have made lightly but I believe in our current climate that its in everyones best interests to stay at home as much as possible. This will ensure the health and safety of ourselves, our children and our greater community. I look forward to resuming face to face appointments again in the future. In the meantime please stay safe and look after each other. Warm regards, Steph Carvell, Speech Pathologist.
