23.01.2022 Sponsored content from our partner SonoSkills: Baker cysts (BC) are not technically true cysts; they represent distention of the gastrocnemius-semimembranosus ...bursa through accumulation of fluid, which communicates with the #knee joint. BC’s are most prevalent in patients with preexisting intra-articular knee joint pathology such as arthritis (degenerative or inflammatory) or internal derangement (meniscal or ACL tears, loose bodies, etc). Although BC’s are most frequently asymptomatic, they may cause posterior knee pain, joint stiffness, and reduced range of motion. BC’s may rupture and cause acute leg pain and swelling, mimicking deep venous thrombosis. The differential diagnosis includes ganglion and other benign cysts, popliteal artery aneurysms, as well as malignant tumors like synovial sarcomas. It is critical to demonstrate the MSK #ultrasound characteristics of a BC to establish a diagnosis and differentiate it from other potential etiologies. Join our 3-part advanced knee webinar at 18/8 (ventral), 15/8 (medial) and 1/9 (posterior and lateral). REGISTER: http://bit.ly/MSK-KNEE Can't join the live webinar? No worries, you'll receive a recording right after the webinar OR after your holiday. #sonography #MSKUS #radiology #orthopedics #sportsmedicine #rheumatology #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #fisoterapia #physiotherapie #fysiotherapie #kinesietherapie

In adults,... it usually follows trauma to the limb, such as a fracture, surgery or a penetrating injury, and is difficult to treat, particularly in its chronic form. APA Pain and APA Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist Anne Daly, MACP, outlines a complicated presentation of complex regional pain syndrome following a work injury in this interesting case study. #NPW2020 #choosephysio http://ow.ly/GP8I50AIDoE
